Our new ally who we're removing from the list of terrorist states

"I hope that we shall not be prompted or obliged by any evil to go back or to look backwards," Gaddafi said, after defending his past support for militant Third World "freedom fighters."

"We do hope that we shall not be obliged or forced one day to go back to those days when we bomb our cars or put explosive belts around our beds and around our women so that we will not be searched and not be harassed in our bedrooms and in our homes, as it is taking place now in Iraq (news - web sites) and in Palestine."

Well, clearly he's cahnged hiw ways.

In a statement timed for the visit, human rights group Amnesty International said Libya continues to jail, torture and execute political prisoners.

"The European Union has first of all to take care of the human rights issue," said Libyan protester Saeed Khaled, a former defense engineer, exiled since 1998 in Switzerland.

"Nothing has changed in the country. The region is still the same. The changes he's making are only in foreign policy."

And is terrified that if he doesn't end his brutal dictator act we'll invade like we did in Iraq. The Bush plan is working!

A mass murderer in a nice suit and tie with a pleasant smile on his face is still a mass murderer despite what his lawyer would like you to think.

Actually, I'm looking for the silver lining.

We were in a phase of fighting for emancipation, liberation.... We were accused of being terrorists, but that is the price we had to pay. If that is terrorism, then we are proud to be terrorists because we helped the liberation of the (African) continent", Kadhafi told public Radio France Internationale.

Proud to be terrorists.

Yup, time to take him them off the list of nations that sponsor terrorism. He's clearly remorsefull.

What's the upside to this again? Oil that we don't need at the same price we pay now?

last night rented Timeline (not a good flick btw rented Kill Bill too, much better ), was intresting to me to think about how both sides would view the others as terrorists. If you wantonly kill the populace of your enemy and get to write history cause it helps you win then you are heroic but if you do it and you lose your an evil terrorist, not that this hasnt been said before but most of you didnt truly think about it then and wont truly think about it now so =P.

Are you saying that the US Military was wantonly killing civilians during the Iraq war? I was there. Were civilians killed definitly. Was it intentional. No. If you have ever been in a fire fight once the first round goes down range its a free for all. You dont have time to pick out choice targets when the **** hits the fan.

The difference here is that a terrorist by definition targets civilians and non military targets in order to cause fear within said populace. Then using this fear in order to gain some political advantage. Spain comes to mind as a pretty recent example of this tactic working.

Me too. I saw every civillian that was killed, personally. I can gaurantee that every one was a mistake, made only because an devil baby eating deamon was near by.

Also, I invented pants.

Actually, the most Iraqi civilians were killed in the years since Desert Storm. That's what happens when bombs destroy water works, sewage treatment facilities, power plants, that sort of thing. Pile on 11 years of highly effective trade sanctions, and you get a pretty scary mortality rate.
