Hey! I'd love it if the Dems would finally start seriously discussing "issues" instead of general Bush/Rep bashing. It might raise the level of political discussion in this country to a dizzying hight slightly higher then the "You suck! No I don't!" level it's at right now.
It's political
REPORTING that's the problem, certainly not the Democratic party. This isn't a partisan statement, and I think it would be clear to anyone, an alien who just landed say, that the current administrations is
obsessed with secrecy and vagueness.
Moreso than we as a nation have ever seen. Kerry talks about the things he would change constantly. Every single stump speech contains specefics of what he'd do diffrently and why it would be better for the country.

It's not that I think that's "all the Dems have". It's "All I've seen from the Dems so far". Personally, I believe that the Dems will have a problem with this simply because at the moment they seem to be a party that's not really unified behind anything other then that they don't like one aspect or another of the Rep platform.
That's the oppinion of everyone who gets their current events from conservative shills, I guess. It's not even close to true, however. The party is unified behind a set of ideas. The messanger of those ideas is less important this election presicely because the ideas are what matters.
As opposed to the Republican ethic of "Bush's *real* likable! Not too smart, but people don't like smart!"

I'll say it again: It's really really easy to get an otherwise disparate group to agree that they all dislike someone else. It's another thing entirely to get that same group to agree on any set of things they "like" though. It would be really nice to see something coherent come out of the Left sometime before the election...
Considering there was coherance around February 1st I think you need to broaden your horizons of news sources. I realize that you're such a brainwashed partisan hack that you probably couldn't bear to read anything not written by Bob Novak or Fred Barnes, but the reality is that the Left is easily the most unified it's been in my lifetime. Unified on the platform, unified on the message, and unified on the messanger.
What would be nice is to see the Republican Party adress an issue of any kind without outright lies or slogans. The Republican's are the kings of slogans. "No Child Left Behind" Fantastic slogan. Doesn't matter if you never authorize funding for it, people don't ever do that much work on the news they just remember the slogan.
The Gabji's of the world anren't clever or motivated enough to dig a little deeper and see what the slogan's actually mean. But hell, it's the superficial average intilegence Gabji-esque voters that decide elections. So in a way I suppose it's a very promising thing that Gabji doesn't see any issue oriented content from the Left. Probably means we might be able to snag his vote.
