Trust me, nothing gives Chicagoians more mirth than to read news stories about how Seattle, Atlanta or some other "never sees snow" city got 1.5" of the white stuff and had to be shut down
I lived in Salt Lake for a year before moving here. That year was one of the weirdest winters according to the locals. According to a few SLC usually would have snow by Halloween. However they didn't see snow until the middle of December; when 12 feet dumped on them in a 7 day period.
Before SLC I spent 20 years in North Idaho and Eastern Washington where there's plenty of snow from early November through the middle of April. During all that time we had maybe 5 snow days because of high winds, not really because of snow.
So Jophiel, I kinda have to chuckle along with you when a few inches shuts us down. The main reason most people in the Puget Sound region don't go anywhere is we're all unprepared. Snow tires, chains, studs, sand/gravel/salt on the roadways, traction sand in the trunk and the other snow gear don't really exist around here.
