Yeah, it is not like I showed a story or two in which feminists behave in less than appropriate way.
What's your point?

Are you presenting proof that feminists are all crazy whacko's and there fore the movement has no merit...or what?

Monitored by a smart phone app no doubt. Ms. Hanna needs to get with the 21st century already. Smiley: disappointed

They can both be inappropriate. The women in question wouldn't have done it if it wasn't inappropriate -- they were, after all, trying to make a scene and be noticed.

And where is the appropriate place to get noticed? On the podium, I say. They sure as hell wouldn't get their point across quietly protesting in their homes.

Really? You can't think of any other options besides jumping up and down screaming in a church and meekly sitting at home?

For the rest of class, could you tell me what you think about the women in church referenced in both stories? No, you wanna call me a women hater instead? That is cool; now @#%^ off, and have a happy new year!

I call into question whether or not you understand the definition of "inappropriate" behavior. So a couple women shouted in a church. Big deal. It's NOTHING compared to the thousands of years' worth of oppression and violence women have suffered all over the globe. I think we've earned the right to shout a little.

Put on your big girl panties and deal with it, angrymnk.

No. You don't get to be a **** because you have suffered. Normal rules apply to everyone. Yes, women too. I know. It is just crazy that I even dare to think that.

You want to be treated equally, here is your chance. Be prepared to be treated like everyone else when you step over a line.

Btw. if it was just a little shouting no one would care ( I assume that was your point ).

Well Yeehaw.....

I thought the point the protesters were trying to make was about god gender (versus inequality). Though the audio was really bad and in German so I'm not really sure what they lady was yelling in the video.

In high school we realized that anything read in German can sound like angry hate speech.

What they intended to do and what they did can be, and in this case are, two different things. While their form of protest may be about god gender ( idiotic issue btw ), the kid glove treatment they are getting here is amusing.

What do you think would happen in a temple of less temperate people? Do you think someone would be slapped? Would you be outraged then?

If this was my party they'd interrupted, I'd be irritated and probably even pissed off. The folks holding and attending the service seemed to take it in stride and carry on with just a little interruption after the offending person(s) had been removed. Why are you so outraged?

Heh, not enough fiber in my diet.

I would like you to use your imagination a little. What if they did not take in stride? Would I be reading news about Priests emotionally raping the feminist messenger of peace and love? Would you be getting bent out of shape while defending the feminist horde besieging a church ( 2nd link )? Would you portray them spitting at the praying crowd as angelic rain mixed with ambrosia, and non-generic douchery as a novel way of protest?

Would you be angry that someone, somewhere did not take in stride?

Do tell.

So... in other words, you're upset because people didn't respond to your links as you wanted them to?

What balance are you trying to restore? I still don't see the big deal about a couple women shouting at a church.

For some Baptist churches that's pretty much any given Sunday.

It is very difficult for people who take a certain level of privilege for granted to appreciate that others might desire and deserve a fair share of the pie. They recognize, vaguely perhaps, that a level playing field represents a net loss to themselves. Thus, they see unfairness in any change that elevates another individual to something nearer their own level of privilege.

It's all pretty silly, really, considering that we 99%-ers are all relatively underprivileged next to the top 1%; but that's the way it is. Every peasant wants to hold on to his own hovel and half acre, and will defend his own right to property and by default his master's right to property, even if that includes the peasant himself.

Easier by far to denigrate groups who try to bring attention to social injustice as crazy and disruptive than to admit that your own station is perilously close to theirs. It's the paradox of the right-wing authoritarian that those who would benefit most from social equality fight hardest against it.

But hey, keep hugging those chains. You've earned them.
