A study come out today about breastmilk purchased online. Apparently much of it shows dangerously high levels of bacteria and/or levels of highly toxic bacteria like salmonella and e.coli.
Duh.
It's always good to have the proof, but come on. Who'd purchase human breast milk on the internets, and secondly, WHY?
It seems counter-intuitive to me. If one is so concerned about the health of their child that they want to feed it human breast milk versus formula, why would they take such a huge risk and purchase it from some stranger in a strange land over the internet. There are not even guarantees it's human milk.
Fems, how would you feel about selling your boob milk? Talk about being bovine.
I'm all about lactating moms helping out friends/families or even neighborly acquaintances that can't, for whatever reason, make their own breast milk. But a market for human breast milk seems like it's on that edge of ethical creepiness.
