I'm debating rather it's better to wait for xbox 360 players or try to deal with this the best I can.

Level 17 seems to be level that I will be stuck on for God knows how long. I do play this game but it has been spent sitting in dunes LFG for a long time. Getting bored for an hour and logging off. Note that's way longer than I ever waited with my then 70 whm.

Wont top BLM though, when I went 3 days without a party - waiting 6 hours each. At low level given I am an oldie, I still expect those 15 minute lfgs lol. It also doesn't help that being a whm in dunes players have little to no regard for your exp and will invite you to these big behind level gaps. Like say 17 19 19 19 20 19, and I'm forced to deal with it cause refusing might mean waiting more hours for a party. AT THE SAME TIME suffering a big xp penalty.

I just went through the same thing lvlg my WHM sub. I never thought it would be so hard for WHM to get a pty! When I did finally get an invite, it was in a totally mismatched pty because "we are the only ones this lvl range lfg."

Suprisingly, few of these ptys were newbies. I must have gotten in on the "lvl your sub" trend, because so many were rank 9 and 10. I appreciate that, not only because I know they are experienced players, but because I am learning a new job myself. I can't tell you how handy it was to have the 25 SAM turn out to be a 75 WHM. I asked TONS of questions along the way!

I am having to be systematic in my sub lvlg due to serious inventory issues, or I would offer you my 18 THF, which is on my eventual list of subs to lvl.

Of course the dunes are empty. The dunes are soooooo 2004. Korroloka Tunnel ftw <3.

One thing to try is soloing. White Mage is hard job to solo, but I think Thief can do reasonably well.

Most people are high levels nowadays, but I would have fun leveling a new subjob. Should I do another 75 o_O;? Maat Cap O_o?

But you can't just go to the tunnel and go LFP there. You'll be doing it for nothing. Besides the xp sucks for my level there. Everyone also can't level there. The tunnel doesnt have enough worms to hold the 36-43 paople that dunes usually have.

Um..have you ever been to Korroloka? >_>

Exp doesn't suck at lvl 17 there, if you know what to fight you can lvl past the Qufim lvls there. And you CAN lfp there, depends on what time of day you go though, or you can just lfp in Bastok. Sure beats lfp for hours in the dunes just to end up with a crappy party.

And the "good exp" lvl range there is very narrow. Yes, the tunnel is a viable option, but not for nearly the lvls as the Dunes.

Mithranger does have a point. If you are looking specifically at lvl 17, exp is good there if you get the right combo. I have done best with a pty of 5 taking VTs and IT-.

I have not been to the tunnel enough, but I have been to the maze more times than I can remember. I guess this oldie needs to break away from tradition and LFP there >_>. Either way it will still feel like a big waste of more time.

To be honest, Korroloka is pretty empty on NA and EU hours but bursting with people on JP hours, so if you're on then you'd be sure to get a pt me thinks :o

i'm not entirely sure, but i think a thf might be possible to solo worms @ korro. tunnel with range....~ i duoed once wiht a thf (but level 75 rng so his archery and stuff was capped) and i was a smn and it was easy exp

just need to be careful of its magic~ if you can get a mage to come to duo with you~ silence the worm and keep range attacking/nuking would prolly get it kileld really easy

Worm pts @ korro is really easy exp, you get a few DDs and a healer and there you go~ ;) can even solo if you have a *cough (something ama hates)* PLer *cough*

Oh yeah thf can solo worms there all right. I solod thf there myself, went from lvl 17 to 23 in 2 hours, beat that dunes/Qufim.

I had marksmanship capped, used Acid Bolts and a HQ Crossbow, used Au Laits and had a few hi-potions left over from skilling alchemy. Virtually no downtime and the privacy of EU prime time made for some awesome exp :D

Soloing is certainly an option while lfg anywhere at any level. Just put your flag up and go wherever you want.

I tend to blast through endless numbers of EP at the {La Theine Plateau} or {Konschtat Highlands} zones until 17...you have little down time and no competition. Then at 17, at least with a melee job and some potions/food/decent gear you can take on the lizzies in the Dunes near the {Konschtat Highlands} zone or even the bunnies/bats/gobs near the {La Theine} zone.

The only Dunes parties I've been in were over a year ago...I levelled rdm/whm/blm/mnk/war/thf all to 20 at the same time to get the Dunes over and done with. I duo'd drk to 24 and went straight to the jungle for pt's (drk is now 42). I've been soloing nin at the zone with some occasional duo'ing (is now 18). I've been soloing smn at the {Tahrongi Cavern} zone (is now 16), etc. I figure some exp is better than no exp...and there is little that is more frustrating than lfg for hours and not being able to do anything productive.

If you grab just one person who is lfg, you can duo pretty much anything near the zone entrances to the Dunes easy (and zone if you get into trouble).

Otherwise...if you'd prefer to wait it out lfg...I'd suggest either staying relatively close in a nearby zone slicing through the EP's (you'd be surprised how fast the exp can build up) or consider taking up fishing in Selbina. At least you'd be doing something productive...and who knows...you might just get enough exp to skip the rest of the dunes entirely and go straight to {Qufim}.

Take care and good luck!

I second this statement. Specially if you're a mage type. Finding at least 1 or 2 DDs should not be too hard and helps pass the LFG time. Just keep searching for people while xping to add to the PT.

I finally got whm to 18..but I'm still stuck in dunes with it til 19. With no buff(no surprize there, parties don't read my text when I provide my @'s so I don't do it anymore..)and all and I like how I got dumped at the secret beach. Being a whm rules so hardcore in FFXI :) /sarcasm.

I'm having better luck with BLM. No coincedence there~

If you need any help, Desnia. Look me up in the game. I am usually on in "JP hours", so easy to find me since I usually do log in (and NOT afk) in the morning for a while if you are still in Australia.

You were obviouly AFK. Shortly we all died and you came back on to find a full allied PT dead. ahh good times haha!

Try to talk to Kikyo, Majorkusanagi, Woof, and Zeushkor in the game. Kikyo is an American who works in Japan, and he speaks very good Japanese too. And Major is in the US armed force who stationed in Korea. Woof just moved to New Zealand from America. Zeus is Chinese, but he lives in Tasmania.

Teqrain does not play that much anymore, but you can talk to him if you see him >.> He is nice Singaporean guy and speaks very good English. You can also try to talk to Zklken, but he is always very busy in the game.

Hmmmm May be I could send them a tell ahead, or you can mention my name. Try to catch me in the game. I am online usually briefly around 8 PM Japan time (I think that is around 10-11 PM in Australia)

My whm however is still trapped there >_> but who cares, I will let that hated job rot til I take blm to 36.
