I posted this on the main forums in a discussion about Necromancers being a new job, thought I would posted it here as well for people I know to discuss openly.

Here is what I posted in regards to Necromancers:

I think alot of people are failing to notice they might already be looking at the "necromancer". Necromanccers use the power of the Dead, most here are just thinking in the box with summoning the dead. What about be able to use the abilities of the foes you have crushed in battle, "call" thier spirits in order to use thier powers, not actually call them into existance.

The word used in the description, FELL, as in Fell Magic aludes to magic evil or sinister in nature. Black mages use descructive magic but it isn't evil in nature just extremely powerful. The power to use a creatures abilities against itself, exploiting its weaknesses, well, if you ask me, that sound fairly sinister. I could be dead wrong (no pun intended) but I do know that necromancy isn't just limited to calling skeletons up from the ground. Necromancy includes, communication, summoning and most of all a deep knowledge in dead and what knowing how to protect ones self from the dead returned.

These are just thoughts but the Necromancer might be staring at you already on the page of new jobs.

I think Necromancer would be an interesting addition, but there is already a Summoning job, granted it would be different "spirits", but I'd much prefer that if you summoned a skeleton/fomor or whatever, it would look different than the ones you see in Eldieme, or Lufaise.

All I am saying that the Necromancer everyone is calling for because of the Lamias might in all actuallity be the Blue mage cause their description fits proper guidelines.

I for one would like to see this job implemented. Since the addition of the Corse mobs in CoP I always wondered if this would be next. However I try not to read into anything SE does anymore because they just throw some wild pitch to left field and leave you scratching your head i.e. the corsair job being a gambling pirate (from as far as i could tell the pirates in this game called forth undead to do their dirty work but hey wtf do i know). It would however be a job I would like to see added to the new list since they seem to be heading away from your usual swing a sword and cast a spell ideal with what has been shown so far.

The Lamia's description is that they summon the lost souls of the sea to aid them in battle, so I'd assume they were a necromancer. But hey, all beastmen have jobs, BLM, WHM, RDM, WAR, MNK, SMN, BST, I'd guess that Lamia's will be no different in this aspect

There's a SMN enemy in Dynamis - Jeuno called Vanguard Necromancer that's a summoner, so there you have it, Necromancer = SMN.

If I see any job added, I'd love to see a job that can melee and use Elemental Spikes and En- spells, I know about the /RDM SJ idea, but the main problem with that is many ppl look down on it.

Well if you own a Mannequin, and do the quest Knocking on Forbidden Doors from Tavnazia Safehold you'll learn that the starter npc Enaremand and the other npc from the cutscenes are Necromancers for jobs, this is not assumed, they themselves tell this.

***Spoiler***

Enaremand has lost her wife so he's making mannequin trying to recreate her, until he finally made one that looked as her and was trying to give it life, but had failed all his attempts.

So he asks you to find this Necromancer that had been missing since long ago, so when you do in Phomiuna, Enaremand gets him to accept to try and get her wife back into the mannequin.

The Necromancer already knows that it is impossible, that the mannequin will just be an animated and empty vessel, but still agrees to do it.

So then we meet in Lufaise and the necromancer tells you to take care of it the mannequin after hi animates it. He uses a Burst-like animation to give 'life' to the mannequin and then you proceed to fight it.

After beating it, Enaremand will blame you for killing her wife but then he'll understand that it's not possible to bring a soul into some body.

Btw the Necromancer from the cutscenes whom i can't remember the name, uses a Dalmatica, and he isn't wearing any smn AF/JSE related gear, nor is Carby around.

So it is fair to assume that Necromancer is a job of its own even just it is NPC related.

***End of spoiler***

But just because that guy is a necromancer doesn't mean the job will be added to the game.

The only hint to the job IMO is that one guy in Norg you talk to that talks about they use a type of magic that's not known to advernturer's, but the main problem I see with it being added is the usefulness of the job, since they could only summon...

Skeletons
Shadows
Ghosts
Hounds
Doomeds
And the new undead type mob.

And 6 magic spells doesn't seem like enough to really have a use.

I know that, i was just stating that Necromancer exists as a job already even if it's only for NPCs.

And it'd be 7 types of undead with Fomors.

Besides before Fenrir there were only 7 avatars too, now there are 9.

First off let me shout out to Dahl and Callis, nice to see you guys on here. Now to the post.
To the op who stated 'because Corsair uses guns makes it a job like RNG.' Its not anything like RNG, NIN uses guns but its no way near anything like a RNG, please open your mind to other possiblities of what can be. Dahl,I honestly believe that your assestment of what a necromancer might be, is the most original idea about the job to date. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but, yours is the most original and I do hope that if SE does decide to give us a Necro, that your idea is used someway, somehow.
My 2gil.

I think people are failing to realize that I think the abilities that Blue Mage has or at least, those proposed, could mean Blue Mage is the "Necromancer". Not think they will actually name a job Necromancer but give Necromanic abilities to a new job but call it something different.
