I'm a taru lvl 31 whm 20SMN with all the avatars but levy and fenrir. But I kind of got bored with leveling. So I've decided to take up farming/crafting while I don't feel like hunting for a party.

The problem I'm having is I can't decide if I want to go into Cooking or cloth craft.

I like the idea of cooking to make food for myself and for making money

But the idea of making all my own armor at higher levels is also appealing to me.

I plan on taking one craft to 100 and the other one to 60

I guess in the end it will come down to what craft is more useful for a 75/whm 75/SMN. Or maybe witch one has less competition at the higher lvl.

So I'm asking my fellow players on Cerberus for advice.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me

Well truthfully any craft WILL make you money at higher levels. But i would go clothcraft to 100 and food to 60. That way u can make your own food and some of your own armor. Plus Clothcraft at 100 will bring in some nice dough!

yea, clothcraft HQ's will sell for more than Food HQ's cause clothing HQ is permenant where food HQ's wear off still, just last a little longer than their normal counterparts.

I can honestly say that I wish I had cooking high enough to make yag drinks as I use them by the dozen as a solo'ing smn... but if I had to start it all over again, I'd work on clothcraft again instead... grab a lvl 5-10 job and you can farm the materials you need to get started in sarutabaruta and giddeus.

1 wind crystal w/ 1 yagudo necklace = 3 grass threads
(till lvl 3 or 4)

1 earth crystal w/ 3 grass threads = 1 grass cloth
(till lvl 5 or so)

1 earth crystal w/ 1 grass thread & 2 grass cloths = 1 Cape
(till lvl 7 or so)

1 earth crystal w/ 1 grass thread & 3 grass cloths = 1 Kenpogi
(till lvl 9 or 10)

I might be wrong on the level caps... it has been sooo long since I've concerned myself with beginning clothcraft... but now that I'm 73, I can make some good gil. Continuing to level is difficult now as it is very expensive just for a couple 0.1's and even then the materials aren't as common as I'd like.. So maybe now I might start cooking for a lil bit.

Euh yea... well if u wanna lvl cooking to 100 its only 2-3 mil, u can make steady profits but not huge ones.

Clothcraft to 100 costs somtin like 50mil? (not sure, ask ulmo, the last lvl is like 1-2M loss per synth if succeeded i think)

So yea, unless ur really really rich u should lvl cooking first, make some steady profits for a while, save up that cash and lvl clothcraft on a mule when ur higher lvl or cooking high enough

just my opinion, cuz imo if u lvl clothcraft first u will just spend your money for nothing cuz you'll have no other source of income than farming/NM which takes a lot more time and is a lot more inconsistent than crafting for a couple hundred k a day with cooking.

i never thought about it that way. how is the profit at lvl 60 cooking? would it help to lvl it to 60 THEN take cloth to 100?

I'm a lvl 83 cook and I would also suggest clothcraft over cooking. All my clothcrafting friends are way richer than me hehe

Yea hmm, i didnt mean to say that clothcraft isn't better than cooking, but you probly don't have the gil to get CC to 100, probly not even 80.

What I meant is if you get to 100 cooking and find the right synth for nice profit, u could fund your CC on a mule.

But heck, if u got 40+ mil in ur pocket, lvl CC to 100 =P
