Has anyone else been getting kicked off the server with no warning the last few weeks? I've gone from having a random d/c every month or so to one every day like clock work.

It's becoming the biggest downfall of this game... i don't log on just to sit around jeuno and chat... so when i'm online it's to attend an event or to get a solid block of exp. The last 2 nights i've had a d/c in the middle of 2 planned events.. one was cancelled because a number of us couldn't log back on for several hours... and last nights we just had to sit in Ifrit's until everyone finally logged back on.

We'll see what happens tonight... but i'm about fed up.

I personally have no problem at all last few days. It must be a very regional and ISP/line dependent thing. I myself is a Verizon DSL user from southwest Maryland / suburban Washington DC.

Someone no <3 SE or Japanese servers recently....

Very good chance it's regional. Leetfade and I d/c at the exact same time (maybe 30 seconds apart) from each other each time. A good friend, Speck, also lives north of us (michigan) and is getting the same amount of d/c just at different times than us.

It's one thing to get a d/c... but not be able to log back on for several hours is unacceptable in my book.

I have had a few problems lately. The problems are usually in the evening and weekends, so I have assumed it was due to population on the servers. But, that might not be the case.

I do, however, have no problems getting back online after being kicked. Is this consistent with other players' connection issues?
Just wondering.

The recent wave of problems seem to have started when SE do things to take action against botting or the use 3rd party software via changing game mechanics (like how to win the pull of NM), banning, and changing their software to make 3rd party software to fail. (Yes certain people in Cerberus has also be banned/suspended for that too)

May be have been some kiddy(s) who got banned -- knowing he/she will never get caught -- and start DDOSing SE (with some working knowledge of weakness of OS and how SE uses their ports).

I few KTO members that are living in the Mid-West and Great Lakes also having problems lately too... So it sounds like a general issue with the Internet around that region... May be a few major "traffic hubs" in that region are being really jammed or DDOSed...

I have had the same problem since Sunday. Random d/c with no warning. Each time I am not the only one in pty to go, either. Usually 2-3 players d/c within several seconds of each other. I am able to eventually log back on, but only after several attempts.

I am playing in Missouri, which is Midwest as well, but I am not so anxious to blame it on my home internet connection. While I am playing on PS2, my son is playing one of any number of online games on PC. His connection never skips a beat, no matter how long it takes me to log back on.

Since I came back to playing two and a half weeks ago, I've d/c'd twice and R0'd for more than 3-5 seconds several times. Everytime I R0 for a moment, it comes back with R2000+ once I finally begin receiving packets again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sort of packet exchange could get someone bumped off their internet connection... basically, SE DDoS attacks the user.. I mean, wow, 2000+ packets is quite a bit when the average is usually 350-500.

Well, like Speck, I'm also from Michigan, but I've only had this problem once. Last saturday night I d2ed into Jeuno and kept getting R0, so I stepped into Rolanberry and logged. Other than that I've had nothing. Oh yeah, and just recently a friend of mine, Villegas, quit partially because of this crap.

Same here, like 1-3 times a night. Waldorf Maryland, here so its happening everywhere I think. Well at least the ppls I know are haveing the same prob.
#12 Sep 28 2005 at 11:08 PM Rating: Decent
Here in Utah I've had at least one instance of R0 at least every time I log on. I haven't been disconnected in most of these instances - and when I have I've usually been able to log right back in after a try or two.

There are a bit different than your normal D/C. You can be sitting there chatting one second, then the next you're booted. It seems to happen around 9:30 est for me lately.

For an example, I can't remember exactly where I was at the time, but I had just boosted up for a Chi Blast and as soon as I did my /ja Chi, I got booted. I saw the animation for the chi itself, and as soon as it connected, I wasn't. This is how screwy it's been. I got dropped 3 times during Dynamis Windurst as did a large chunk of our alliance.

I know they've been really working to catch people botting on stuff like HNM pulls so it very well could be attributed to that. I heard that a bunch of people got booted at King Behemoth the other night for that. LoL

Posting here from Fairy server( I like to browse through other servers forums when im bored) and we too have been having random DCs at 100% connection. More than likely it is a regional problem, I live in the south and have had few problems, though I do still get my daily R0. Hopefully SE will get it together and figure out what the problem is.( if its even their fault to begin with.)

Speeling sucks ^.^

That thread can be flaming, but it does has some interesting discussions.

I think a lot of people have to accept that Internet is inheritely (sp) unstable and unsecure. It is simply a property of the Internet with so many things can "webbed" and connected, so many possible software and hardware problems, and so many ways it can be compromised. SE still, on average, has the one of the best track record in keeping their servers up. With some problems (even though they are still better with the problems), people think it is like the "End of Vana'Diel." People really need to chill. I am sure SE sys admins are just as frustrated as the consumers.

Einstein says "God does not play dice." But Einstein is wrong, Mother Nature is really random even we do not prefer to. Consumers and business want (spell as "demand") Internet to be secure and stable, but that is simply not possible at least for now.

I am not defending SE. There may be thing SE can do, but there are only so much can be done. But refuting unstability of the Internet is like trying to proof F=ma is wrong, or Gravity does not exist.

Add: F=ma is indeed "wrong" sometimes ;p but usually right for most real life situations

No. All I get is my usual OS shutdowns which give me this blue screen with a bunch of Fault_page_error info crap. And when that happens, it's instant.

If you're getting issues like that, Elathia, I'd get that PC looked at. <.<

Ama, that F=ma is a new one to me. Unless, of course, you were referring to E=mc2. (that 2 is meant to signify squared LoL)

I live here in Michigan, I have d/ced once in the last couple of weeks.

I use SBC DSL so I dunno.

I do get a bit of lag in the most empty of places at times.

BTW. Thank You Ama for 9-1 last night <3. Amanada

As we can probably tell from the responses it's not an issue with your personal ISP. Like Leet was saying, 1 second you have a full connection... the next second you're gone. Even if i just yank the chord from my ps2 i still have 30 seconds to plug it back in before a d/c (i've tested it).

Strange enough some of the d/c's happen as soon as you perform an action. Like a /ja or clicking on a ??? (like Dynamis-Bastok)..

I wouldn't mind seeing a few Tracert's from different parts of the world/country to see how the routing differs from geographical location. Very good chance it could be a regional problem.. but due to SE's internal routing.

Kain, i heard about Vill >< That sucks... we just did zm5 the night before (along with a number of d/c's)..

I know everyone thinks we're just trying to "flame" SE.. but that is not the case one bit. I own a web hosting company, if i had daily problems with email/ftp/www routing do you think i'd still have any customers? No. SE just needs to take the responsibility and fix the problem. I'd rather have 2 days of downtime and come back to a stable server than daily R0.

/rant off

side note... F=ma is not Einstein... it's Newton. But I know Amanada was not confused... Einstein was mentioned only as referrence to the quote and held no further relevance to the formula. Also, I can prove F=ma to be true...

I'm barly over a buck-ten and when I'm sitting around doing nothing, I am very lazy... when I'm up walking around, I have slightly more energy but am still fairly dead to the world. LOL
