YF took an exp party from the LS to beat Genbu not a long time ago. Drops from Genbu are just the beginning for the rewards of sky. However, no item on the server can substitute for respect.

Your right about that but I don't know anyone from YF, it probably was a different item my friend got but regardless of what the item is you still get the idea.

If someone succeeds in killing a God they have a right to be proud of their accomplishment. It doesn't mean they are a better player, or deserve more respect...but it's a challenge that some people don't engage in.

If you struggle with your LS in an epic battle to kill Kirin, and manage to get the Osode, you have a right to wear it with pride...because you and your LS worked for it.

There's a difference between being proud of one's self, and being obnoxious. It sounds to me like your friend was simply happy with his accomplishment...it doesn't sound like he was saying "I'm a better player than you now".

Since you were friends I'm guessing he was more just looking for a "thumbs up" or a "good job!" from you at slaying a God and obtaining the item.
#5 Aug 29 2005 at 4:56 PM Rating: Good
Sounds like someone is jealous. Is it that he got god gear, or that he "managed" (to use your word) to have an accomplishment before you? Don't even try to say this isn't the case - just read your first sentence.

Like another has stated, your friend probably just wanted you to be happy for him. Like a friend should... Killing a god is an accomplishment to be proud of, as is the gear that they drop.

Even though you didn't give us a verbatim of what your friend said when he told you about his new gear... I'm willing to bet who has the "high and mighty" attitude between the two of you. (Hint- it's not him).

Mateo we went over this last night in the LS (which you opted to drop the pearl of after I asked you in tell to not be so negative in LS chat). The more you talked about it, the more it seemed like you were just looking for sympathy. Everyone else got that same feeling. There is no need for sympathy here.

You're worried that you won't have the best gear. So. Make up for it with being as skillful as you can be at your job. I picked up DRK after 3 months off on it, went in with only decent gear and my GSD WAY underleveled. I could tell the PT was a bit frustrated with me not having GSD capped (I'm trying to skill it up btw :-b) but at the end of the day they were all complimenting me on being one of the better DRKs they've seen in a long time.

Yes gear can be the first impression you put on a party. Just make sure the impression you leave them with is a good one. There are so many people consumed with having the "uber" gear that they fail to realize what can really make them good; knowing their weaknesses and how to overcome them. Once you figure that out (hint: Don't rely on gear) you'll have people asking you to pt when you're not even LFG.

I'm sorry you didn't find they sympathy you were seeking from the LS, but that's not what we're about. We push hard work to get the things we want. I'm amazed when I pt with LS members I haven't PTed with before because they share this same mindset. They concentrate on what it takes to make their job great and worry about the gear when it becomes available.

Gear is not everything. As long as it is up-to-date, it will be all fine for me. Anybody who judge another player purely on equipment ("You noob, you need all HQ!") and not on their skill is a noob him/herself.

You do not NEED God gear to be a good player in this game. And sometime wearing that type of gear is for prestige. People who worked on it have the right to be pround of it, but also do not have the right to look down to others that do not have it as long as others have up-to-date gear and good playing skill.

Respect in the game is not earned purely by wearing God gear. True respect is earned by your actions in the game. There are people that does not kill Gods... who are not level 75s etc, and are widely respected.

Add: I notice a lot of people nowadays way too obessed with gear and forget the fundmentals of the game... People need to play Chess or Go or anything like that... Those are {Skill} Onry :3 (I am sucky Chess player, I do admit that ;p)

PS:
BTW Leet :3 You are gonna level Dark Knight? May be you can exp with me sometime with my summoner. Summoner and Dark Knight can actually do Distortion :3 Shiva {Double Slap} FTW!

Yeah I actually SPed with my DRK for a long time until it caught up to my Monk. It's at 48 now and I like it because it's a very challenging job to play well. (ABS spells, SCs, Hate management)I really wanted to have that DRK AF just because it looked sweet so now I think I'm going to go ahead and get it. Asuran Fists is first priority though. :-b

What level is your SMN? I'm always up for leveling with friends. :-D

Nice. As soon as I start swinging Asuran Fists I'll get DRK to 50. It shouldn't take too long. :P

I've had this sudden urge to level my NIN too. >.>

A Ninja 37 sub is always very useful in this game. I want a Ninja 37 sub too to do double hammer Hexa Strike terror without getting hit a single time ;p

Yes he he managed to pull ahead of me, it surprised me because I was higher level than him and all of a sudden I saw him one day and he was three or four levels higher than me, I knew that he had more time to play than me but I didn't think he would catch up so quickly. I mean, I've seen a person get a job from 63 to 75 in less than a month and things like that surprise me because quite honestly, I didn't think that was possible.

I opted to drop the pearl because you said you didn't want any problems in the LS and I decided to just drop it and save us all a lot of trouble. Secondly, I wasn't looking for sympathy, I was just irritated and went in to a long rant, I was just venting, as I already stated clearly "I have already come to terms with the fact that I won't get the items I want, I've given up on it, no big deal."

Edit: For some reason I can't quote people here on Alla, not sure why, you people will have to figure out your responses.

Actually I said we don't condone constant negativity in the LS. If I felt you were a "problem" I would have broke your pearl. I just think you have a very negative outlook on things which I really didn't want spreading within the LS. This is one of those things that's just not worth getting worked up over. Hell Lebiont went flying passed me but I'm not going to get all pissed about it.

Well I would have gotten annoyed again at some point and I saw the problem would have escalated eventually, believe me I made the right decision and it's better off for your LS. I have a feeling after my rant in Jeuno last night that my rep is going to get worse and it won't make the Bladesingers look any better. So, I've realized that I am probably going to go without an LS, I am just going to try and make some pt's here and there and get to 75 drk and then I'll just switch to my next main and just keep going from there, I'll just have to see what things I can do on my own and not worry about the things I can't. For the last time, I am not jealous, I don't care about the rare/ex gear things like that which I wouldn't want to use in an exp pt. I don't care if I can equip it or not, if I don't feel that an item, no matter what it is, is something I don't think I could make use of, I don't want it. I also don't care that he passed by me, I have stopped leveling drk for now and have been working on my subs.

Edit: Left something out

Chill people... Try to take personal fights off the open forums, that would just spread rumours and cause more trouble (other people going to flame and add gas to the problem).

I am not going to take sides in what is being said here, despite I do hold personal opinions (which I will not voice here).

i'm not butting in, but
nothing drives me up the wall more than a person who whines and moans about something that cannot be controlled...take it to tells, vent to your friends, or go kill a TW crab with 300 tp or something.

Funny how you would say anything, I've heard from some of your ex members and I can't tell you how many times they've been complaining about how you and Fowler don't do anything and that your LS is going downhill because you left the sackholders in charge. This isn't my opinion of course, I never been in your LS, but if what these people said was true, it's not really your place to criticize anyone.

Edit: I think they were just overexaggerating, no decent Linkshell leader would abandon their LS to sackholders, if they did, they wouldn't deserve to own a shell.

funny how i would say anything why?

i never assumed anything from this post regarding your ls and it's activities. i noted how dumb you were acting regarding a genbu item...simply put, your defensive demeanor and your grasp of cerberus gossip solidifies my point that you are by far, a whiney little boy with a silly attitude.

i can criticize you all i want because my ls has nothing to do this post...nor was it mentioned...so i'm failing to understand how you think you can put me in my place by being..well...an off-topic idiot?

This was not supposed to be a flaming thread -- that is why I made my last post. Let's be peaceful folks... And the thread has diverged from the original topic in a hostile manner.

How is it gossip if EVERYONE that I've spoken to that's left your LS all said the same thing? Makes sense if you ignore the whole logic thing. But that's neither here nor there.

you keep posting to get the last word in.
be quiet, don't begin to assume you know everything or anything for that matter because a few disgruntled ex-members told you /gasp, things.

it's gossip, because you know nada. you are on the outside looking in.

this is a 'whine/moan about <insertstupidsubjecthere>' clean up the boards this is lame. alla should be semi-useful, as KI isn't.
