Same here, I wouldn't mind smoother graphics, but the best part is the expansion to me.

A swarm of L1-30 will be a big boon on the ecnomy, at least as far as driving prices down on crafting materials and crystals.

I remember how bitter the PC players where when "the PS2 noobs" invaded and made made silk and fire crystals dirt cheap. And all the new craftsmen flooded the markets with low end gear, driving prices down even more.. the economy was "ruined" according to many ^^

This was a dream come true for craftsmen. 50 gil insect wings and 500 gil silk thread... And 200 stacks of each crystal on the AH, with noobs contantly undercutting each other...

Right now the FFXI community is economically mature. We have no lower class that farms in volume, because so many of us find it beneath us. We will farm treants and goobues maybe, and a few other decent money makers, but really NM are what most people strive for (an "easy" all or nothing payday)

People blamed the gil sellers for inflation... All they do is sell an item for 1 mil gil, sell the gil online, and the buyer of that gil buys a similar 1 mil item. If they can monopolize and control an item, they may try to increase it, but this would barely be a ripple in the economy. Mostly just out of one pocket, into another.

There is simply too much gil in the economy, and no lower level mass production of materials to suit their needs. Its like a world where everyone is a millionaire... no lower class to sweep the floor or work at a grocery store. When someone finds time they will do the dirty work, but it will be at a cost befitting a millionaire.

So sorry for the rant, but FFXI needs new blood to keep our economy alive. Adding 1000 poor people ot every server will be a very good thing ^^ (except for the odd ones who beg for handouts >.< )

From what I understand, the graphics improvement won't be noticable without the HDTV. Still, I'm looking forward to it. My PS2 won't last forever.

What I'm curious about is the content of the expansion. Any ideas on that?

Edit: Spelling corrections

From what I've heard, so far

-New avatars
-New jobs
-Missions (obviously)

I dunno about new avatars though, it seems pointless to me, although it would be cool if Alexander was San d'Oria >.>

And for missions, I just pray that they're not related with the Gates to Paradise like Zilart/Promathia is.

Bring on the Bahamut summon. :-b (pure speculation. No facts behind it so don't get excited. LoL)

I can't wait to see it on my HDTV. LoL. I guess I'll finalize my TV burn-in when that comes out. *sigh*

New stuff i've heard about.

-Considering adding Blue Mage..but i'm not sure what we'll call them, i guess we could refer to them as bums....but thats not really dignified.

-Upgrading some jobs, Recent interview with 1up, SE said they'll be making some jobs stronger

-Manaburn pt's. This one really upsets SE. They out and out said that since the game came out blms have been too powerfull, and they've been trying to reduce them a bit, but players seem to find a way around it.

And the xbox 360 is supposedly comming out around christmas.. so it might be a while.

I'm wondering if its possible to use FFXI on a ps3 without the hdd, its supposedly built in.

-Atomos(Test Server)-

Anybody know about this?
I'm prolly horribly wrong, but this could be a server that they're testing the xbox release on

They very well could be. I know they have a few test servers that they use regularly. It's not entirely off the wall that would they would up one for testing the 360 platform. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they were already to that testing phase of it.

Last I heard, the 360 was a Thanksgiving release. Did they change it recently? They have a crap load of games set to release mid November.

I actually tried the PS2 version a few times recently, and able to compare with PC -- I had always played on PC. PC version is so much better in graphics. Of course I am not used to play FFXI with that PS2 controller.

The X-Box 360 version will without question awesome graphics, and be better than current PC version.

I am not sure if I am around to see that, but fresh faces will certainly be good to the game. A lot of people that started around the same time are gone now, and it will be great new people able come in to the game.

I really urge when that happens... more senior player to help the newbies out, and be generous in time to help them out. And do not do things that ruins the new players like showing them off you got to get all HQ gear or do power levels through Valkrum Dunes or Qufim Island...

Death to Elitism! Death to Power Leveling!

PS: Rates up to everyone in this thread.... This is one more worthwhile threads for a while.

A larger population sounds nice. .-. Too bad SE doesn't make those nifty caps available to pre-existing characters, though, it would be rather nice to be able to help out some of the new players with those.

On that note, I wonder if there will be some event up during the release. Would definently be enjoyable, and would help everyone meet eachother. <_<
