Has anyone had an opportunity to play with their NPC? Can you issue commands, etc or do they blindly attack?

One notable: If you click on your NPC, it appears to dismiss them.. /sigh. (Yeah, I learned that the hard way^^)

I'm not really sure if you can issue commands to them. I didn't get to use it much since I did the same as you and clicked on him. I really hope they change that part. But I do know that if you go to the certain areas you can meet them in you can adjust certain things about them.

So far, they attack after you make the first swing upon the target.

If you enter /healing, your NPC will do the same.

The NPC's starting mode is "Shield"... occasionaly, at the start of battle, they will use the Job Ability "Provoke." Also, occasionaly, they will use a Weaponskill (Mine has used Burning Blade and Fast Blade)

Starting job level of the NPC is set to 30.

I do not know if they get aggro like the NPC quests do.

You CAN cast cure on other's NPC's in your party. You may also target them with -na's and erase. You may NOT use Protect spells on them. Bard songs have no effect on them.

They are quite strong in taking hits, even as a taru, mine takes hits much better than me. >_>

~That's all I've figured out about them. Also, mine upgraded to Lizard armor, she's becoming less gimpey :P (About 2 NPC call's done so far)

You can cast cure, haste and protect/shell on your NPCs.
Any spells/abilities that work on party only (regen, refresh, protectra, songs, warcry etc...) do not effect your NPC.

My NPC attained lvl 31 today. Took about 2 and a half sessions. I took him out to e. altep and sauromangue champlaigne (sp?).
We killed beetles in e. altep and weapons in Sauromangue.
As lvl 75, I got no exp from the Too Weak mobs, but it lvled my NPC >.>

I also tried my NPC on those Catobelas(sp?) dhalmels in Bibiki. My exp was taxed a bit (like a bst would be with a pet). My NPC got brave and voked the Dhalmel and died in 1 hit lol.

Forgive me for asking a dumb question, but I no longer have access to the game. But how do these NPCs compare to say, having avatars? I see they they are around a limited time only. Once again for me asking a dumb question.
