Saying Goodbye...Follow

We on the Draconis Linkshell very recently had a member quit the game. It was a long story why he was leaving, it had to do with Friends, and the 'Real World'. We are all sad that he left (yes, he gave away his items and deleted his well rounded, advanced job, high level character), but understand why.

We had a send off for him. All the ls members on at the time met in Selbina. We talk and laughed.... and yes when he got on the 'Last Voyage' out of Vana'diel some of us cried. We were not close friends, hell, we didn't even know his real name until we said good-bye. But, we at Draconis pride ourselves on being FAMILY. And, the family said farewell to one of our own.

How close are you to people you met in the game? How much do you know about their 'real' life? I was thinking about this after. I know somethings about almost everyone on our linkshell (almost 50 strong), something personal, something REAL. Does that make them REAL friends? I think so.

There isn't a person on our linkshell I would not invite to my humble abode. There is not a person there that I would not enjoy spending 'real' time with. But, since we are spread out all over the world, we spend our time in Vana'diel. Does this fact make me a game addict? I'm not sure. Do I come to Vana'diel to 'play the game' or the 'be with my friends'? Both I am sure. But, my friends come first (even out of Vana'diel)! If one is having a personal problem and needs someone to talk to, they are priority. The game... although fun and exciting (and boring) is second to the friends I have found.

Now... with all the rambling finished...

Good-bye Sidius... Hopefully we will meet again

I am friends with a few people in game...

1 more so then others, tronix (if any of you know him, im sure you agree he is a great guy) and we always help/talk to each other about real life problems, and i would consider us good friends... being its online and all.

Other then that i have a few from RL who play the game so, does that count?

I think it counts, Iron.

Who said a friend is someone you see face-to-face? I think a friend is someone you care about, want to help, and enjoy spending time with. On-line, or IRL.

I can relate to this as well. Two days ago, an old friend of mine from my very first linkshell was forced to quit the game. It was sad for me, and a few other old members(thrillagorilla, sholandra, smeigal). We all helped mold him into the character he was today. We would laugh, have good times, and do all kinds of fun things together.

Now it is all a part of the past. His name was Baylan. If any of you knew him, he was one of a kind. The UBER HUME RDM. It is a tough loss, but in time we will move on. We all /salute you.

Saying goodbye sucks. I've seen so many of my friend from NotAGuild, my first ls, and definatly the oldest NA LS on the server disappear. From Zeckro to Scooticus to Rekki to all these ppl most people never even heard of. Lately, Musama, Saitou, Zeige(; ;), Mailee, damn...so many people. However i keep in touch still with alot of people, like Dragoonvengance, Limdul, Maladur, all my good friends. Its sad when people leave, but it doesn't have to be the end of a friendship, thankfully :D
Good luck to everyone leaving the server, Even Pance, we did have some fun times ^^;
