Bored at work, so here's a question to ponder...Follow

I'm feeling very philosophical right now. Here is something to think about...

Imagine you have been camping Argus for awhile. He is due to spawn and due to drop the peacock charm. Your real life friend sends you a tell asking if you are ready to kill the WHM AF3 mob for him/her. You were given several weeks notice about this fight. This is the only time they can do it because they will be shipped out to sea tommorow and will be gone for several months.

Now, what would you do. Would you continue to camp Argus, or would you help your friend? Whatever choice you make, please indicate which choice and why. =)

If i knew that argus would spawn in the next 10mins, i would tell the friend that i have to go bathroom, BRT.

being that hell be shipped out to sea soon , that AF gear wont really help him anyways!

I not being mean, I speak the truth, dont you think we should?

Nuven u asked for a philosophical stand point, there is mine :)

Nice Foret =)

Here's the kicker. Argus wouldn't spawn in 10 minutes. He would spawn while your helping your friend and would drop the charm.

Now, again, from a philosophical stand point, would you still help your friend inorder to give them that last moment of triumph and success because they get shipped out? Or would you tell them to wait till they got back and have them feel like crap and not do everything they wanted to do before they had to go?

The choice is yours....

I would help the friend, because to me, a friend is worth so much more than any mob's drop will ever get me. that's my 2 gil.

I would tell my friend my predicament and ask if he could wait a few more minutes that Argus spawn. My friends tend to be understanding people :)

If for some reason I really had to chose between one and the other, I would go with helping my friend. Friends first, always. Besides there is no guarantee that the charm will drop.

yeah in that case i would help the friend out, being that i only have 1 or 2 main friends in this game, i wouldn't want to see them go empty handed,

Hope your having fun at work Nuven, for me, not so fun :(

Given this was a hypothetical situation, and the charm was Garunteed to drop I would explain to my friend that I had to camp this, and that I would go to great lengths after camping argus to help him with his af.

Very true Balzac. I put my friends first before other things..or atleast i try to.

In this situation, I would help my friend out. Nothing can replace the feeling of satisfaction you get when you have helped someone accomplish one of their characters lifetime goals. =)

I'm nowhere near this level, but...

If I gave my word to someone (be it friend, or just another player), and I was able to play at the designated time (i.e. nothing in RL keeping me from playing), I'd keep my promise and help them out.

Oh does this unfortunately hit home. :-/ I and a friend from my LS were camping Kote and had killed 4 waves of place holders. We had been there for around an hour and were whipping EVERYONE to the pulls. He had flash, I had Chi Blast so nobody there stood too much of a chance. Then the LS tell comes up, hey we're here at Castle Oztroja for our Rank 5 mission. >< Oh the frustration. But believing in Karma I packed up and headed to the enterance. Kicking and screaming inside of course.

Here's the kicker. While inside one of these individuals decided lvl 35 was high enough to just walk on his own and not listen to the people helping him. He gets ahead, invis/sneak drops, gets aggro. I was ticked because he got aggro for not listening, but I decided to try to play hero anyways. I got my invis, ran to his <pos> and killed the mobs. Not even a Thank you! Can you believe that crap???? I could be wearing a shiny new red Ochiodu's Kote right now!! >< Some people.

Yeah I don't let the idiocy of one destroy the hope for others. I just don't jump through hoops to help him anymore. :ob

Honestly Nuven, I have NO clue how I got scholar. I've been asking about that for awhile. Is it because I've kept my rating over 3.0? No clue.

As stupid to ask... What does Scholar give you? And what is it exactly?

It's just a message board title that's based on the number of posts you've made, as well as your karma rating. It doesn't do anything per se...it's just there to show you who the veteran posters / postwhores are.
