reading through these forums I find that people tend to want to post the negatives like crazy, but always forget to post the positives... or maybe my eyes just focus on the drama that goes on in Alla...

Anywayz... It's time for a positive post all those sappy stories going around from japanese players and we have nothing to show for.

I was sitting in Jeuno yesterday waiting for a Crawlers Party (which, by the way, where are all the East Coast peoples? There is never anyone on first thing in morning)

I saw a Female Hume run by that brought a big smile to my face.
Can you think back to the first time you ever died, and you were out in the middle of no where and you thought OMG, I can't believe I just died, I'm so over this game. Then all of a sudden you see that bright light and wonder, whats going on?

To this day I still remember the first Raise from a WHM I ever received and it still brings a smile to my face every time I see her running around. (Thanks Cassie)

Go ahead, do it, post something nice about someone on this forum.

I'm sure there's been times where you're down to 2 HP and you have no 2 hr and all of a sudden you're cured.

How about the first time you made the trek to Selbina or Jeuno but you didnt know the way (Thanks Kimber)

Or you're being TEH Man and letting a a gob whale on you because you don't want to zone it, and all of a sudden someone shows up to your call for help. (not enough room for names)

How about the High Level who sees you sulking because you are having trouble getting that last item for your sub quest and drops what he's doing to help you out. (Don't worry, he didnt want that Valkrum Emperor anyway)

Or how about the WHM who had no problem buffing you up so you could get through Davoi to get to the unused well.

Or the RDM who gallantly slayed all the gobs and bats just so you could get through Ran <tab> and get your ice element for Summoner.(Thanks Eugene)

Or that group of folks who ran ALL OVER VANADIEL killing things for your airpass keys just so you could ride the airship and party in Kazham... only to realize you were happier back in Quifim. (Thanks Garrion, Revoker, Sirena, and probably a few others)

Or the LS that covered for your sorry **** just so you could have your Rank 5 and airship pass (thanks mex, spar, thor, tek, mac, dark, eugene, nez Im sure there are more)

Do I need to go on?? Share the love... Thank someone on this post or better yet
Take 15 minutes out of your busy gaming time to help someone else, you never know when you'll need it.

There are so many nice people on this server. Sure there are a few annoying one, but blist is my friend.

I would write a long thank you list but it would take me forever... I /befriend people who help me, so I don't forget and someday I can repay the favor (usually when I catch up in level.)

Lately the CerberusAlliance LS, made of people from this forum, have been most helpful. Thanks a lot guys. Keep up the good work.

Most of the people I have talked with are really nice and helpful. They make the annoying parts of the game (hello, killing hundreds of mobs for a coffer key) bearable and the cool part of the game excellent. Thank you all.

Now that I think about it, the first player I ever met helped me a lot. She not only picked me up when I was killing bees to make 12 or so gil from a few insect wings, not even realizing there was such a thing as an Auction House or how large the game truly was. She opened my eyes to the depth and uniqueness of Final Fantasy 11. I will forever be in dept to you, Farrel.

So much help, I can't even remember all of the occurances...

LS Members dropping what they are doing to help me get the Kazham Keys (I'm sorry, Kez is the only name that comes to me at the moment, but there WERE others)

Sheppard, who is always anxious to help me with whatever I need. Plus he's great for just joking around:
LS Member: Anyone need an "x" item I'm selling?
Shep: How much?
LS Member: 20,000
Shep: Free, you say?

Antaeres, who was my own personal guide as I started the game. Currently he's taking a break from the game, I'm hoping he'll be back now that I'm the same level as him.

Another LS member who walked me to jeuno from Bastok at level 20 so I could get my chocobo license (I'm awful with names, I'm sorry... Smiley: cry) & casting sneak & invis on me about every 30 or so seconds.

Last night, a pair of Mentors helped me and another person (who's name sounded familiar... then we realized that we were on each others Friend list from back in Valkrum) complete the Ninja Job quest.

Took me a while to meet someone decent. Trust me, not until Kazham did I find a piece of kindness from another player. What started out as a PT that would last for like half an hour, lasted for 7+ hours or so. I had the best time ever in FFXI that day. All because of you Stark. Thanks mate.

What happened was I was in a PT and all I could think of was to get to level 30, and I was at level 26. As soon as I arrived in kazham, I met Stark on the way out to the jungle. I couldn't help but mention that his name meant Strong in Swedish. That's about it, and a couple of minutes later we both ended up in the same party. We talked like mad, and I think we did not only level in kazham together, everyday since that day I've talked to him. I know many people have had these miracle parties and have ended up with 5 new names on the Flist you'll surely forget about, but this was entirely diffrent. It's almost as if I play the game to hang out with him and a couple of more people, including you Delanie. I don't see FFXI the way I did before.

Oh wow, so many people to say thank you to...

And a HUGE thank you to Sanguinius who was always willing to drop what he was doing and come and help me, khazam keys, you name it. I owe you big time Sang!
And Ayndru, the number of times you've got me out of trouble or saved me at the cost of your own safety... I will never forget that.
I love all you guys!!!!

So many names to remember... I met quite a few good people on this server! I'd first like to thank the people in my linkshell that have helped me many of times!

LS: Bladesingers
Members: Speck, Leetfade, Mooncricket, Kowalakiller, Clockworks, Nazgul, Tikki, Glowworm, Xim

I also add people to my friendlist when i have a good party with them or if they've helped me out on something. It's gonna be hard to remember all the names now... and i might even spell some of them wrong (sorry guys & gals).

Friends: Stephaniel, Americurine (spelling), Deckardcain, Firefly

Many more that i can't think of right now... i'll come back and update this post when i get their names tonight. I just want people to know that they are good people! So if you see them in the need of help you'll know it's appreciated.

Much respect!

Way back when, I asked a high level japanese player to help me get a magicked skull in Gusgen for sub-job. They went out of their way to help me and i will never forget such an honourable deed! There was also a taru who spent about half an hour teaching me the basics when i first played, thanks to you as well.

My friends in the LS Galliumafry, Ninjaturtles, ShinraElite

all ;)

Diavolo and Kyrin -- awesome paladin and black mage that help out all the time

Sofa and Sotaka -- nice cute taru bards

Arlyn -- a very helpful RDM that I know well

Well Im happy... Good to see a post that took off and no derogatory remarks.

It is kinda nice to log on every once and a while and just go to the sheep grounds and help folks out. I can't wait till I can head to the Jungles and kill off gob trains.

I mean, yeah, I think everyone should go through that madness, but also, I think that sometimes you really need a good night of no nonsense lvling.

There have been many little things that made my stay in Vana'diel better... from getting flowers for no reason to help when I need it.

I count myself as being very lucky to have been invited to a wonderful LS. They have helped me so much (and hopefully will be helping me a bit more to get my AF...lol!)

i cant remember the nice people

but i sure as heck can remember the lame people... the mean people....

i find it easier to remember someone that acts like a jack ***..
maybe its just my personality..

but i must say. there are tons of people that were nice to me, that probably molded the in game personality i have...

i help anyone that asks me.. simply because whenever i asked someone for help.. they did... (except the lames)

there is 1 person however... i just cant freaking remember his name.. i just know his deed i liked..

JP guy, i asked him for help in japanese...

he said ok. i didnt even tell him what it was. i just said "can you help me with something?"

he replies.. "ok"

then i responded by telling him what it was.. he said "ok^^"

yep, that inspired me to be nice to whoever the hell asks me for help..unless of course im occupied..
but i dont turn down people simply because theyre "strangers"

Chyna: For been the best tourguide and been an overall great person and actually made the game more enjoyable. (I have no idea what happened to her though...she dissapeared...if your reading this send me a /tell ^_^)

Kittana: My 1st good friend of the game that also shares the same fusterations for this game as I do.

Darkorko: Helping me out with the dreaded task of leveling THF to 15 and always looking out for me.

Insane: 1st higher level person to help me out. (Sub items quest)

Brigade: A high level J/E player who insisted in helping me out with getting my RSE in Gusen Mines even though I didn't even know him. This was a critical part as during that point I was about to quit the game all together from the fusteration of not having any help to get my RSE.

????: I can't remember his name but it was a high level J RDM player who helped me out in getting my SAM.

Goku: Awesome PLD who escorted both me and Elysana to the top of Delkfutt's Tower to finish our RANK mission.

I agree...there's too much ******** in these forums.
I say we organize on planning more LS events...

Wow... too many cool people that I have met along the way to name.. but my flist continues to grow! But here's a story I'd like to share that set the tone for my adventures in Vana D!

I started off with 4 RL friends and needless to say none of us had a clue what we were doing..but having a blast! We all were different jobs so we couldnt even trade information. I was probably a lvl 6 BLM or so when I discovered Alla forum. I posted on the BLM forum with some ideas and questions. I got some responses, etc...

Anyways... I went home that night and logged on. I was trying to kill Giant Bees in between my frequent deaths when I recieved a /tell from a stranger who said they saw my post on Alla, etc. We chit chatted a bit and she gave me some advice, then out of no where in true BLM form she popped onto my screen. (yeah, I was freaked out how she somehow found me in the INCREDIBLY emmense world!!)... After sitting there talking a while... we were bidding our farewells when up came the "XX offers a trade."...

I fumbled my way to get the trade window up... and she gave me a ring! To be honest, I dont even remember whether it was an Ascetic's or Emerite's... All I remember is that I couldnt have afforded it at the time. I thanked her tremendously!! Then I sent /tells to each of my RL friends... and yes even sent a misstell to her... (Mujuru was extremely embarrassed... lol!)... But I was REALLY excited and her generosity and kindness has never been forgotten.

That's when I realized that there are MAD cool people out there!! and no matter how many A$$hats I come across (and there have been plenty). I KNOW that there are more cool people out there for me to meet!

At any rate... Thanks Summer! I've only seen you once since then... and sent a /wave and a /smile... but never expressed the effect you had on my experience! Hope this finds its way to your ears!

My thought is this: Summer probably doesnt even remember me... why? because she's probably done so many acts of kindness that its probably impossible to keep track! But I'm certain her influence directly effects Vana D... I for one have been influenced by her and my tribute to Summer has been to show the same type of kindness and generosity to those starting off as well! I truly think that this is something she would have wanted me to do... Kindness breeds kindness!!!

It doesnt take much to spread kindness throughout our server (our world!)... just a bit of effort, maybe a little gil, maybe a few kind word... but that little bit goes a LONG LONG way!

EDIT: I don't think that this link has anything to do with acts of kindness, etc... but I think that the people posting in this thread would probably appreciate it. It kind of got me back on track in my adventures in Vana D! Enjoy!

http://www2.hawaii.edu/~dokihara/meetingagain-en.swf

EDIT2: grrrr... link doesnt work. So cut and paste into your browser!! Worth the effort!

Too many to name....

But, off the top of my head, Kaylyn (Best person ever), Mythrania (Words cannot describe), Hibiu (The GREAT Hibiu), Jeuth(Meadow-prancing Windurstian Galka), Devi(Embodiment of 'taru niceness), Anger (No longer playing, bless his drunken-male-mithra heart), Xera (Meet me at the Song Runes again. I'll buy you a beer), Maynerd (Waxing philosophical on Batallia Downs), Alistor (Make 'em bleed), Kalisto (Man of Mysteries), Kelsia (Always remembered), Bluestrk (I am your eternal meatshield), Charsibelle ( ^^ ) Anfini (Word to your mother. And brothers. They're cool, too), Daft (Burn Ghelsba to the ground!), Entei (Where have you been, anyway?), Lunaleska (Yes, you're awesome already) Daenerys (That's MISS Targaryen), Winterfeldt (That's SIR Winterfeldt!), Yanos (I'm still disturbed by the transformation..), Blizz (He of the crab of death, or something), and the gone-but-never-forgotten Bleedingoak!(HAIL BASTOK!!!)

And so, so many others that I can't remember off the top of my head, which makes them no less awesome.

This is an awesome thread, My hero in Ceberus is Pyre.

From my third week in the game he has been there, to help and guide me thru the rough spots. Sometimes in person sometimes in tells but always close to me.

I only hope that everyone meets a hero or many, for there are plenty.

First and foremost:

RAYME

This guy is absolutely amazing. He's helped me out more then any other person on the server by a longshot.

There are many, many others but one that comes to mind (mainly because it was the most recent)

Rwolf

This guy stopped doing his genkai II so I could get Rank 5.
Like I said there are way more but I don't have a great deal of time atm. Thanks to everybody. Late.

Zheno (I believe that was his name...) 75 JP PLD who, randomly, I asked to help out with my NIN quest... he was SUPER nice about it, and he spoke a little English, so I was able to communicate my point to him... he was in Selb, so I /telled... yeah... goes like that ^.^

Tiggs - Wow, great guy Tiggs, always willing to help out once his party is over and stuff... he was the starter of a new LS after VanadielsMoose broke apart, and he invited me, but then I switched over to AK, most commonly known now as TheNameless ^.^

Delaine - WOW. Not to give anyone bad ideas or anything, but I LOVE YOU DELAINE!! My game experience would not have been anything NEAR as good as it was if I had never met you. Thank you for being there for me ^.^

Dendrem - See above, Delanie, but replace words with Dendrem and keep in mind that I used the word 'love' in a figurative sense >.>

Forget name at the moment... I think it started with a 'Z', but I'm not sure >.> - Awesome American!! RDM, higher levels now... he was my friend's friend, and once I needed to unlock SAM, I /telled him about it... he was very polite about it, and was totally willing to help out when his party was over. He also helped me out on several other occasions, such as getting to Norg to finish NIN quest, getting to Norg to get Tonko and (I wished) Utsu scrolls, and many other things. Thanks buddy!

Who else...

Well, too many to name really, but those were my main thank-yous. Here are some more, w/o descriptions:

Neore
Raimune
Elementis (I know him by Neore)
Geomtyr
Nebz (^.^)
Tribbin

And many others... thank you all so much for making my time in Vana'diel the best! ^.^
/cry from all the sentamentality

In no order of merit:

Madeline, when i was Eume and still a long standing chat mate at least. Isominds, guide and guardian and playmate bwhahAHAAa~~! Neptunes, for a surprising 17k sword that i've yet to pay back in full. Ripperny, for a very nice time going about a selbina clay quest and getting beaudine glacier. Ritsu, for just being the chatty self 'she' is. Soulzguider, for being the leader of my LS, and also getting my AF1. Czarina, for helping out in AF too, and the lovely selbina clay quest for sauromange. Kaerith, for her just being her *evil wink*. Shabet, for some wondrous help with carrying items--melon juice... lots of it ><. Reiden, for planning up a static party for fun and all. Sosarugi, for assistance with AF1 and also some interesting conversations. Rogziel and his 2 friends for rank 5 (man, that was a toughie at my level!! thanks so much! :)). tujefe, detanita, glade for participating in the operation codenamed "Bash the Cardians". Guesswhat, for being so patient farming. Leszarin, Va...(sorry, i forgot the name. just remember the V) for helping out with my carby ruby. That PLD that finally helped me get it. the numerous people who so kindly raised me, ported me, warped II me. etc

it's not that i'm done. it's just that i can't put all the rest down on without taking time off actually playing ffxi. ^^

oh, and thanks to all who helped make the PTs i'm in a wondrous time to play in.

Yoink
Taught me how to fish when I was a poor lowbie and even lent me a WHOLE set of fishing gear. Too bad he isn't playing anymore. Thanks to him I was able to afford food, scrolls, armor, and weapons for a while. Teach a man to fish...

Xemit
Gave me my first LS invite and has been a cool dude ever since, despite the fact that he's in another country and our LS consists of just me and him late at night. I'm still proud to be a member of the very small and very quiet XIWarriors (but I hope the EU release lets us have few more members that time of night). I've been with him since Level 9 and I won't be leaving anytime soon. Loyalty, it's a good thing.

Saijin
Gave me my second invite to an LS and was always kind. I met him (female Elvaan, male player) while searching for help on my subjob items. I was offering everything I had (700gil for up to three level 20+) and he sent a tell saying "How about one level 47 for free?" Awesome. The second I hit level 47, the first thing thought was "This is the same level as Saijin... I hope I live up to the standard."

The entire EternalKnights LS and former CrimsonLegion
Legion got me mostly where I am as far as rank and helped me do missions (although it was always a massive Raid). The Knights are a constant source of fun in a game I am slowly starting to hate. Especially joining in a Raid with Zidar, who magically makes Carbuncle's Ruby or chest keys drop within minutes and he's a friggin' DRG. Our Galka good luck charm lol

Qwestar
He's just... nice. Evereytime I see him I think "I wonder how many people have thought 'wow what a cool dude!' since I first met him. Gave me great advice from the starting of my BST and saved my *** a couple times in Valkurm Dunes while leveling another job, whether he knew it or not.

Rubedo
He saved my rear end while me and gragryphon stupidly decided to fight the wannabe NM for an item need for Rank 5 in Beadeux (Tab doesn't work here so the spelling stays =/). He saw us dying and told us to invite him. We did, and proceeded to kick ***. He then stayed with us even though his LS arrived and was waiting for him to get a coffer key and we killed another spawn of the mob with his help. Then a day later he gave me the other item needed free of charge, courtesy of his LS.

There are sooooo many others who helped me out, minorly and majorly, and I'm very sorry if I missed you, but I am really bad with names lol

Keep it goin folks... I love seeing peoples names up here that I party with.

Glad to see Neptunes name up there... now if only we could manage to party again. She kept things interesting and I never had to worry about someone dying.

And don't forget Tekkub... you might not have partied with him, but Im sure there's not a one of you out there that hasn't relied on his killer fame guides. Thanks for all that hard work!
