Hey Cerberus!
Ok I need some help (surprise surprise). I am at the dreaded 40s for monk and am faced with an easy 1mil in necessary equipment. I am still using full Elvaan RSE (the body piece isn't so good for the monk) and battle gloves. Somehow I regularly get beat when trying to pull NMs for my equip. This, of course, baffles me because I'm using a /targetnpc chiblast macro but it's consistent nonetheless. I'm not the type to rant and rave about JP pop advantage and botting (except for those all day camp fests where I don't even get to fight :-/) but I'm actively looking for some tips/tricks in getting these f'n mobs. Even some good money making tips would be lovely. I do have a THF up to 15 for farming but is there something better than black tiger fangs and tree cuttings? My cooking is at 34 so far so I'm trying to do the norms. I really don't have time for fishing because I have a static party with my 32DRK and spend a lot of time helping people in my LS. I also don't like to try to consistently camp one NM just to raise money. My thought is someone else might need to wear that gear (don't want to be a hypocrite). Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks to those that share the desire to help others.
*Side Note* If you need RSE help I tend to have pretty good luck with it. I've helped 5 or 6 already. :-) (Just please don't everyone ask at once.. LoL)

No advice for you.... but I feel your pain! I'm lvl 43 MNK and feel like I'm going to be farming forever to afford the gear that I need. Alas, I guess it's life, huh?
I've got thief lvl'd to 15 as well, but have been having no luck on drops of late. I *still* haven't gotten my RSE .... oh well.

Lol...definitely easier stated than performing ^^ I find NM camping to be my personal favorite over any of those Trade/skills, but that's my personality anyway ^^ goodluck.

I am a 50 monk and i never got the kotte and such. When i hit 40 i got combatcasters mitts and the tourney patas. at 50 i now have the tactician magician hooks. I pull hate from my static party pally like crazy. So i figured with another 15 attack it would even worse.
So to make a long story short dont worry about keeping up with the joneses as lon as you are doin a whole lot of damage. dont worry about it.

I'm sorry but, you'll save up for that gil for nothing. You'll never get a party. The only way you will get any use of the gil is if you are lucky to get a static party.
I quit my MNK for the 2nd time yesterday, 1-2months of doing nothing.
Didnt you know? people on this server just loves MNK's.
They will let you stay in Jeuno so you wont get hurt.
*edit* If you still want to continue, wich everyone wants... i want, buts it has gone to far.
Sell all your RSE but the legs. That will give you 150k or so. Enough for the Jujitsu Gi. Then you can buy Federation Kyahans and the Merc captains headgear. Keep these until you get AF, or can get Kote/Fuma in a cheap deal. They arent needed.
As for weapons, you can keep the Impact Knuckles(thats what they are called, right? ^^;) until 48 to get Patas+1 or wait until 50 to get T.K Hooks, Tourney Patas arent any good.
As for belt i have forgotten what i used, atleast i sold my brownbelt, and got something else, then sold that at 48 to get Life belt.

Yes I understand how hard it is to get a PT as a monk, however, I happen to have a few in my LS (SAM, WHM, RDM, and DRG) that are all around that level so it's not AS difficult. :-) With people starting to finally realize the benefit of a monk against the undead in higher levels, I'm finding I get more invites now.
EDIT: Any tanks around 42-44 that want to pt just send me a tell. I'll try to get the other 4 moving and we'll go level. :-)
As far as Tourney Patas, I just bought them about a week ago. I actually do like them but I don't see the "huge difference" that some have mentioned. But it's a nice change from the knuckles and I rarely miss with +16 dex. I already have the Merc Headgear so that's one down. :-/
As for the hate problem. I have definitely run into that in pts. The mobs never seem to like you after you bust out Raging Fists to end a Fusion SC. :-/ Seems to **** them off a bit.

I've seen you at many of the NMs I've been chasing down. :-) Can anyone recommend a decent NM other than lizzy with it's crap spawn range. I don't care for Spook either just because of the stupid Tombstone right in the middle. It really messed up the /targetnpc command.

Ah... I am merely an aspiring level 36 MNK (though it's my main). I feel your pain, man. Since level 34 I've been saving for a Jujitsu Gi, and I figure I'll never get to buy the Ochiudo's Kote, so I'll be camping it.

Always willing to help out the fellow Monks. Sunday after 4:45pm EST your RSE will be in Gusgen Mines. If you can get the quest, and get some silent oils and prism powder I'll take ya. If I can talk my lvl 44 WHM buddy to go it will go rather quickly. I only have one request when helping. Hide! LoL. Too many are all about going gung-ho and jumping in over their head. I'm not a huge fan of gusgen just because of how bad everything links. I got jumped by 2 banshees and 3 wights one time. NOT pretty! If my WHM buddy goes I could care less if you want to fight. If I'm getting a cure I can take 5 or 6 relatively easily (provided my 2hr is up of course). But yeah, if you want to go on Sunday I should be able to take you as long as my SP isn't leveling.
Kickrock. I'll see if I can hoard a few oil/powders and whatnot. And trust me, I know when a fight is over my head. ^^
