Lol @ that 62 hunter acting like he knows PVP. Trust me bud, we had our days back at 60 where we completely dominated, sadly those days are fading. Don't get me wrong, there are some very good hutners out there, but that REQUIRES, as in YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT, Gladiator gear. Blizzard did a good job of seperating the gear types finally. If you match a full Gladiator geared Hunter against a raid geared (mind you i'm talking Karazhan or Gruul's Lair here, not really SSC) Lock or Mage, you can kiss the squishey goodbye. I myself am a "LOL LEGOLAS ALLIANCE" Night Elf Hunter, the only Bulletx in the US Armory, and yes I raid more than I PVP.

I was Darkmage and/or Phyzc loooong ago on Bismarck for those who remember me, especially one of my finer points.. my immaturity LOL. Good times.. good times. But yeah, after my second 75 RDM Ban I moved myself over to WoW and have only come back to say sup once in that time. I'll always love FFXI, I made memories here i'll never forget. Along with friends and enemies.. and every time I think about FFXI I get a sinking feeling knowing all those peeps have gone and quit, including Moonpie.. who prolly doesn't remember me but we PT'd w/ her NIN and my RDM for like 12 hours straight once O.O lol. Dburton was my dawg, still chill with em sometimes.

I came here in fact to check to see if this server was even worth coming back to, I was thinking about coming back to play in my off time every once in a while.. FFXI looks like it has some nice new updates coming along that look.. exciting? for lack of a better term lol. Stumbled on this post and decided to make my first post here heh.

Ah well.. Best of luck to any of my old friends reading this, I may be back soon. <3

Yeah, I remember you Phy...your were an *** to me all the time...
...I still remember it

The gear is not the point i'm making.

The point is that I know how to PvP.(Mal'Ganis is a PvP server where Horde outnumbers alliance 3:1, or somewhere in that area.)
#29 Jun 03 2007 at 11:23 PM Rating: Decent
How can you say you know how to PVP when apparently you aren't even 70 yet to try it? Climb in to the ring thinking you know how the big boys brawl and see what happens, besides.. don't get so worked up.. as long as you know you know how to PVP.. it shouldn't matter what I think right? Or are you doubting yourself perhaps and looking to prove to YOURSELF that you can PVP? Lol, idk.. either way CALM DOWN KILLER.

And to Andy.. lol.. idk man, pretty sure somewhere in there you said something like "Everyone is 10% gay" or something like that, which is just asking for a social beatdown :P. Either way.. yeah I was immature back then but w/e, apologies tho it means nothing now.

Heh, now what would be the point of posting just to be a jackass? That seems a little pointless imo ;).

Zariko O.o [Run Away]

lol sup^^

Anyhow, to be honest Andykiller, I never saw myself ever returning to FFXI. I was pretty hardcore into WoW, but after playing it for along time I got kinda bored with it. Seeking PT on FFXI sucks, so the solo aspect of WoW is cool...but after awhile I missed the more PT orientated action of FFXI. If I wanted to play alone, I could just go play my 360 and voice chat with someone. WoW does have alot of aspects that womps FFXI, but in the end, IMHO FFXI has a better sense of community...plus its FF themed and WoW was eh okay but still cant beat FF.

Come on back to FFXI now, yah hear?

The people that say FFXI is more community based never had a guild, and never did any instances. Andy is staying at WoW. Go away Harker. :O
#39 Jun 07 2007 at 10:29 PM Rating: Decent
Once again more ******** lol.. Do us all a favor and stop talking until you hit 70, grind instances for gear.. grind rep for rewards.. grind money for your epic mount.. grind honor for pvp rewards... grind more money if you ever manage to get into a decent raiding guild that requires pots and flasks.. did I miss any more GRINDS? WoW is fun for sure.. until you realize the game only has one aspect (LOLGRINDMORE). FFXI has a much more player based community.. A guild has nothing to do with it..especially since TBC. None of the Azeroth instances are run much anymore due to the train of thought (What for? Outlands greenz are so much better lewt!) making 1-60 completely solo. If you are happy running the same pointless 5-man instances with your guild for the rest of your life more power to you.. I would personally rather rip my hairs.. As annoying as FFXI can be when you get complete idiots in parties (hence the dunes) it is still MUCH MUCH more community oriented than WoW will ever be..

Ahh this thread made me giggle. Good to see that a lot of people got out of FFXI. It was a great game while you were going through sky for the first time, but after you've done it once, you're not going to do anything new until you quit the game. Or something.

Staying with WoW is the right choice, and as for prot pally... You can make it work at 70, it is certainly viable but you will not be the best, and you will always be asked to heal as a pally, no matter the spec. It's what they do best.

Zariko, wish I was in your battlegroup. Then again I wouldn't get to kill you, but ah well.

Also Hey to Harker, been a long time. Sorry to hear you didn't like WoW as much as FFXI, though I can see how you might think WoW has less community than FFXI, I thought the same way until after I hit 70.

And thats about it until the next time I get bored enough to come to some FFXI forums.

Throwing in my 2 cents as someone who's got nearly 3 level 70 characters and has raided endgame:

WoW is hands-down better than FFXI. I quit WoW more than a year ago and my RNG still has some of the best gear possible; 'nuff said. My Rogue, on the other hand, had CTS, Maladath, Brut Blade, 4/8 T1, 7/8 T2, and my gear isn't even comparable to my brother's gear, and he never raided until BC came out.

WoW is constantly changing, the devs actually listen to the players, and if you get into a good guild, they're more of a family than any LS in FFXI, mainly because vent isn't considered optional, it's mandatory.

BTW, Zariko, respec for the love of God.

It all boils down to opinion I guess. WoW in my personal opinion is too easy, and ALOT of people will agree. If you still play Wow it's because you A)Have friends on there you have grown attached to and still want to chill with em (same reason alot of peeps stay on FFXI) or B) ..you just like easy games lol@u. No this isn't coming from someone who played WoW to 40 and gave up. I have 2 70's and raided end game Pre-TBC and Post-TBC. I still log on the nights I need to raid because I made a commitment when I decided to raid with that guild. But as far as playing WoW full time anymore? I didn't realize how much I hated it until I actually stooped playing it for the most part.

And Qinny, I haven't talked to Db in quite a few months, he left FFXI soon after I did from what I understand. It's sad to see people like him go, he was a great guy.

Bulletx - 70 Hunter - Lightbringer
Squishey - 70 Warrior - Lightbringer

You're joking, right?

From your armory, I'm guessing the most your guild has done is Gruul, if not only Maulgar.

My guild just downed Mag last night, and I can tell you from watching the fight and hearing all of the effort my guild put into it that it's a hell of a lot harder than progression in FFXI.

How would I know?

Gee, I dunno, maybe because I went to sea with AD?

Playing the highest DPS job in FFXI (at the time RNG) and the highest DPS class in WoW (single-target, Rogue) tells me which game is easier. WoW is a hell of a lot more intricate to be #1 on Gruul, #1 on Mag, etc. Not only that, but specs matter. It's not FFXI where merits are just extra stuff that you do when you're bored; spec matters 100% on everything past Karazhan.

I'll give you an example of my DPS in a typical boss encounter in FFXI versus WoW:

FFXI:

Ctrl-1, Ctrl-1, Ctrl-1, etc. Oshi 100 TP! Alt-1!

Rinse and repeat.

WoW:

Opener, SS, SnD, SS, SS, SS, SS, SnD (if Relentless Strikes proc'd), SS, SS, SS, SS, Rupture, etc.

Then I have to watch KTM to make sure I'm riding my hate threshold so I'm not doing sh*tty DPS yet staying under the tank's threat.

Oshi AoE! Run out, bandage/pot, run back in.

Which brings me to another aspect of WoW vs FFXI: buffs.

WoW buffs make such a huge difference that it can make the difference between winning a boss fight and wiping. Food, pots, flasks, casted buffs from Mages, Priests, Druids, Paladins, Shaman totems, etc all make a big difference in all aspects of the fight.

FFXI has what, food, Protect and Shell?

Sorry, never realized that FFXI was so much harder.

(Oh, and if you think DPSing on a Hunter is easier than a RNG, you're not doing it right. Smiley: tongue)

Oh oh, and I almost forgot...the one reason WoW is better than FFXI:

YOU CAN JUMP.

Hey moonpie, How are ya? I'm good...working my *** off up in the arctic...still. Ohhh my roommate just handed me a beer...first one in 4 weeks.... :( no booze allowed up here...

Anyhow, I do miss FFX1 in the aspect of helping everyone out and basically long term relationships with your linkshell.

SO far in WoW, I have made my own guild which I ran with a friend I met in my 50s and we basically started from scratch to raiding with newbs through Karazhan, it was instant reward the first night we took out Attunemen...but I find commitment from people in WoW is much harder to get than FFX1...soon enough my guild crumbled and disbanded...we made it up the the curator. Anyway I do miss FF in some aspects, but in WOW who gives a ****, theres so many people you meet and theres never a shortage of things to do between PVP and instances and raiding. Overall WoW gets my vote, but I have contemplated coming back to FFX1 and join back up with Krack and them, but for now, I dont have the time during the working season.

Hows life post FF for you?

Man, just lookin up some old websites of guilds that I remember, AD is open to all recruitment??? FFX1 community dying off? What is it like population wise now? and JPs vs. NAs (in numbers)? RMT still quite rampant? ...Ah well...maybe FF might be fun again if the next expansion is similar to CoP and not that TOAU crap.
