should I come back?Follow

#1 May 28 2007 at 3:44 AM Rating: Default
Yes, the infamous Andykiller is thinking of coming back. I was thinking of all my friends I had on FFXI... but I also remembered that 25% of the server disliked me. And how freaking boring the game got...I mean look at my sig lol.

So my question is...should I come back to Vana'diel? Its up to you Bismarck...

Much love,
-Andykiller

You know you want to come back otherwise you never would have posted
this thread. You just want to justify it to yourself by being able to
say that so and so wants you to come back and play.

The fact as we all hate this game from time to time, we all make enemies
from time to time and we all have people who would rather see our
characters explode in game :P

If you want to play then you should just play, it really is up to you
mister. Personally I don't think I'll ever quit until the game servers
explode but thats just me.

So what do you want to do?

I'm with Zander on this one. If you have to ask us if you should come back you'd be doing it for the wrong reasons. Hell, if you're worried about the server hating you, they are doing a server migration with the next update. If you're not going to enjoy it or dont think you'll enjoy it I wouldnt bother. If you've got that fiending sensation to play get your fix, you may get hooked again.

Stick with WoW, Andy. If you're still 37 like your signature suggests then you've still yet to experience even a 3rd of the game. You've still got your blue mount quest coming up with your crappy prot spec paladin. Go holy! You healz! Get to 58, go to Outlands and some of the most visually stunning zones in the game as of yet. The people in Nagrand may suck, but the region is just wonderful! Hellfire Peninsula, and Zangarmarsh aren't that bad either. You've got a long way to go still, but really. Stick with it. You've got a lot of the fun still ahead of you as of yet.

On the note of FFXI, you've experienced most of it. Sure, you didn't beat Maat. He's overrated. Sure, you've probably never been to sea. Biggest headache ever. You've probably experienced some portions of sky with the lesser gods, annoying as all hell. Maybe you've even had a chance to sing a few of your songs at a Kirin fight. Not that cool.

Trust me guy, at 60 you'll be fighting some fun Elite mobs that have more HP than Kirin. What does he have? 40k, or something like that? Yeah, about that. Most of all, you get to solo them! What does that say about Kirin? Exactly, he's a final fantasy mob.

Sure, if this didn't convince you to stick with WoW then go back to FFXI. Go back to the constant farming for gear that costs so much it's really not even worth it. Go back to the mindless grinding, and skillchaining. Singing your songs to people that beg you for this, and that. Then, if you beat Maat. Go pull your taru head off in Caedarva Mire. People quit FFXI due to several different reasons. The majority of those that quit do so because the game just stops being fun, but then they begin to miss it and wonder why they quit in the first place.

Let me blow this horn; It's because you couldn't beat maat, and because I kept bugging you to come EXP when you couldn't get any, and..the game stopped being fun.

PS; Stick with WoW, move to my server, and i'll help you.(Not really.)

I say if you want to come back, try it out again. Your a bard anyhow so its not like you will just sitting around staring at your moogle all day.

Personally i would stick with wow, and for once Zariko is right, your not that high of lvl and you have barely scratched to the real content of the game.

HIJACK!

Zariko, I wish to god I was on your server. I would follow you around for hours on end ganking the **** out of you with DOT's, imps and phonebooks.

Andy - stick with WoW. It gets better and better. And altho I feel as though the universe may actually explode if I agree with Zariko, most of the comparisons he made are accurate.

And if you are a Pally, get ready to heal...a lot.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm staying on WoW. Its 10x better than FFXI anyway. And my RL friends play it.
I got an idea. :) How about we get all the former Bismarck players that play WoW now to make alts on one server and we can get a guild together and crap. It'll be fun. :)

I second the "Stick with WoW sentiment" Not sure why in the hell I played FFXI for so long. Can you say REDUNDANT? That's FFXI for ya.

I have to agree, even after the Holy Nerf (bumping down the 100% mana return after getting a crit heal to 60%) Pallies are still the most mana efficient healers in the game. Sorry to break to news to you bud, but if your going to really want to get anywhere in the end game as a pally, you kinda need to be holy spec. Considering Druids and Warriors can tank better then you, and Rouges, Mages, Locks, Hunters, Shadow Priests and Shamans can out DPS you, Healing is preety much what pallies are best at.

Hunters are only an issue for locks if they are BM. And even then, stay out of their line of sight and they basically are running around like morons looking for you as your DOT's are eating them away to nothing.

Not saying by any means that it is easy, but Hunters are beatable.

Now mages on the otherhand...***** that...

The sad truth, Andy, is that if you wanted to tank, start up a warrior. Before you spend too much time lvling a job that people will only let you heal.

FFXI gets boring. I'll admit that. Then again, what game that you've played for a while doesn't get boring? I've been a gamer since the NES days and pretty much every game I've played since then, I got tired of playing at some point. But, I'd always come back after a few weeks, months, years... and play some of them again. Because those games were good.

FFXI has it's good points. It also has it's bad points.( LFG on Drg, dump economy lately, ignorance to name a few) One good point FFXI has over WoW imo, is that I can play from the comfort of my couch, bed, floor, whatever. WoW I'm kinda stuck in a PC chair. It's kind of a silly reason to stick to FFXI, but I'd rather be comfortable for the few hours or so that I play.

Plus, I got a few friends that make it worthwhile to log in.

Anyway, like stated before, if you have to ask us if you should come back or not, then you shouldn't. Like you've stated already.

And BM spec hunters are mostly retarded. MM spec is by far the best route to take. As an MM spec I can silence you for 3.5 seconds, sap your mana, and stun you for 4.5. By the time the stun and silence is gone, you're dead. It's tons of fun.

Mages? Ha. I don't waste my bullets on them. I melee kill them. Raptor strike 2k crit, neato!

On to you, Andy, now that warriors are possibly the slowest leveling class these days due to the constant nerfs. If you wanna tank, level a druid. Sure, bear form can't really outtank a warrior, but really the only warriors you see at 60+ these days are the warriors that were 60 before TBC hit.

As a DURID you have cat form too! It's great, then at 50? MANGLE! MANGLE MANGLE MANGLE! I HATE MANGLE.

After what was said above (i dont think you can do 13k dmg in 8 sec) Death Coil > Fear > DOTs > Life Tap > Fear (again)> Drain Life / Shadow Bolts (all while my fel guard is pounding you) = Dead hunter ^^

According to armory I'd only have to do 9k damage in 8 seconds, which is very very possible. So, 13k is irrelevant. 2k arcane shot crits, 1k white crits. Along with other random fun things I can throw out. Freezing trap the felguard, FD him away. Break your target and come back up wailing on you.

Also, I think it's so cute that we're still talking this competitive business Mach. It's wonderful. Really, it is.

And this is one of the reasons i enjoy playing wow, no stupid Rook to dump petras in, its usually kill or be killed, and with 4800 health, one round of DOTs and mabey a shadowburn = a Dead Zariko.

Then again it would be an unfair fight being your only in the low 60s. Once your 70 though i am sure it would be a good fight.

EDIT: 13k is fully buffed ^^ with my STAM gear setup on, 9k is in instance gear which i focus on +DMG and +Spell Crit

Yeah, around 70 i'll be sitting on 10k unbuffed. I'm gonna be respecing survival here pretty soon. And yeah, stupid rooks and petras.

I get a giggle everytime my arcane shot crits for 2k on a 69 warrior in BGs, and then when they run up on me and raptor strike hits 700. I can just imagine the look on their face when the 63 hunter kills them.

I won't lie. I do have trouble with good locks. Sometimes it'll be leapfrog. I'll kill them, they'll kill me. I'll kill them. Silencing shot really hurts them though if I get a lucky crit in there.

AND you won't be buffed all the time!

Lol @ that 62 hunter acting like he knows PVP. Trust me bud, we had our days back at 60 where we completely dominated, sadly those days are fading. Don't get me wrong, there are some very good hutners out there, but that REQUIRES, as in YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT, Gladiator gear. Blizzard did a good job of seperating the gear types finally. If you match a full Gladiator geared Hunter against a raid geared (mind you i'm talking Karazhan or Gruul's Lair here, not really SSC) Lock or Mage, you can kiss the squishey goodbye. I myself am a "LOL LEGOLAS ALLIANCE" Night Elf Hunter, the only Bulletx in the US Armory, and yes I raid more than I PVP.

I was Darkmage and/or Phyzc loooong ago on Bismarck for those who remember me, especially one of my finer points.. my immaturity LOL. Good times.. good times. But yeah, after my second 75 RDM Ban I moved myself over to WoW and have only come back to say sup once in that time. I'll always love FFXI, I made memories here i'll never forget. Along with friends and enemies.. and every time I think about FFXI I get a sinking feeling knowing all those peeps have gone and quit, including Moonpie.. who prolly doesn't remember me but we PT'd w/ her NIN and my RDM for like 12 hours straight once O.O lol. Dburton was my dawg, still chill with em sometimes.

I came here in fact to check to see if this server was even worth coming back to, I was thinking about coming back to play in my off time every once in a while.. FFXI looks like it has some nice new updates coming along that look.. exciting? for lack of a better term lol. Stumbled on this post and decided to make my first post here heh.

Ah well.. Best of luck to any of my old friends reading this, I may be back soon. <3

If I ever admitted to being alliance at anytime, i'd tell you to look up Kailo on the armory.
#26 Jun 02 2007 at 10:09 PM Rating: Decent
Why? On the Armory the only Alliance Kailo I see is some Night Elf rogue in crap gear, and ever worse weapons, who got his Gladiator hands before weapons. You aren't making much of a point here?
