It looks like the way that things used to be for Vana'diel. I could swear that I could see Tavnazia, the walls in Rolenberry Field being unbroken, the Outpost just outside Windurst being more fortified...

That looks like the Dark Rider in Mt. Zhayolm to me.

I believe the Dark Rider to be Odin, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure what SE had planned for that character, new HNM fight or a new Summon? I haven't had time to research it, but it looks cool nonetheless.
Anyway the new expansion looks really good so far, can't wait to see more of the history of Vana'diel, especially the details surrounding the rise and fall of Tavnazia.

So... back on topic, theories, ideas, stuff we'd like to see in the new expansion?
I'm fairly excited to see what they'll be giving us in it. Looks like quite a bit of Pre-Crystal War era stuff, which has interested me for a long while. I'm Windurstian, but as an Elvaan I've had an interest in San d'Oria and Tavnazia and their history as well.
Toyed a bit with the idea of a fanfic, and the origins of my character and whatnot, never quite wrote it down but that may yet happen...

If you type in some of the NPC names on ffxiclopedia, it'd give you some brief history of the NPC (for instance I typed in a Galka named Invincible Shield).
i seriously cant believe they still support the game. Ive loved square since NES and even ive defected to WoW several times (theyre just lucky ffxi is more addicting :p). I say they're hoping this expansion serves up enough hype and memories to carry us over to winter 2008 when they'll bring us a friggin sequel already! .. god i cant wait XD
