today around 10pm est ends the hardest round of besieged for this server yet. we got attacked by ALL THREE armies at lvl 5 trolls > undead > mamool ja and we beat them all.

It was hectic, but extremely fun. Died 2 times, but eventually just stuck to healing and debuffing the mobs.
if only i was 75 and had ToUA.

I'm willing to bet if they didn't get scared they would've won, heh. They were wicked strong and quite hard to hit. The easiest ones to hit were the undead, but then they'd go and drain back to full HP.
You know, Blood Saber with about 50 people around sure is a pain in the ***.
Whatever the Mamool did that hit everyone for 2k was pretty brutal too, what move was that?

Mijin Gakure. I got munched for just under 3000 damage.
the mamool ja also had wyverns lol. one of them used fang rush i believe it was on me for like 1.4k dmg

You know, I was just minding my own business there, trying to warp to Jeuno and I heard the music and saw the shouts. I was tired, I wanted to go fishing and I couldn't leave. I was like WTF?!
Then I got a blind invite to help Bismarck and you know....It was a friggin BLAST! We kicked major ***** I never was involved in one of those before, but man, I never want to miss another one ever again!!!

How regularly do these things happen? I'm not quite sure what the mechanics of this event involve. Help a white mage out. Who knows, it may be me in your party next time saving your skin by regenerating it as fast is it gets torn off. Haha.
Exactly, I'd like to know if there's a pattern too, I don't want to miss it if I'm on.

Yes we did. And no, it wasn't the warp Taru like people were thinking it was. Supposedly it was a weapon vendor. The NPC was rescued within 45 minutes to an hour after the raids ended.
Still, based on my own experiences, it's gonna take quite a force to bring us down. An average of 140-160 attackers per wave, vs. about 500+ defenders, most of which were at least 60+, and there was even a linkshell outside the city, skirmishing with them, before they reached the gates. Yeah, they better keep bringing stronger stuff, 'cause we're gonna keep beating them back!
I only did one and it was a weak one at that.

i dont really belive there is a pattern to the maddness "Besieged" you just have to look at the besieged map every now and then to see at what number and in what status the groups in.
From what ive seen they are in "Training" until at least 100+ and then depending on their lvl, they either continue training until they hit the required number for them to start "Advancing".
During this time they are attackable before they even hit the city... (never really seen them in action though due to my lvl)
And after Advancing comes "Attacking" and this is when you get the CS's and Besigeing starts.

damn i cant imagine the lag. from the one's i've been in.. .with just 1 force attacking lag was worst than dynamis.

For the first two battles last night, the lag wasn't bad on my end. It wasn't until the Mamool Ja landed and we had 650+ people in Al Zahbi that I had almost a full two minute delay between the time I hit a spell macro and the time it actually went off.
Things did get so crazy last night, though, that it made POL crash twice for me.
i heard alot of ppl died and they took 1 prisoner... thats what i heard. but good job on defending the area ^^

Pardon my newbishness, but I've been away from FFXI for months, and what is this "beseiged" stuff you are talking about?? Is it some kind of new event or something? Please describe it! :)
Besieged came with the new expansion..basically the city gets attacked by enemies..and they swarm inside and basically anyone inside at the time has to defend it...

there is a new city called al zahbi. there are 3 types of beastmen. undead swarm, mamool ja savages, troll mercenaries. there is an item in the city that the monsters want. we hafta stop them from getting it. so what happens is they occasionally attack the city and the players have to fight them in the streets of the city to stop them.

Well read the above thread...was over 600+ people defending it and lots of the people posting are in their 70's and they talked about how they died alot...so yea..i'd assume so. But i'm still gonna go (51pld) no matter what and ***** around hehehe.
its very very easy to get there lol the mobs were only hard because they were besieged lvl 5. a lvl 1 army is very easy to kill.
