I do not remember the exact price, but mine are at 152. I believe that must be 156..not sure though. But definitely somewhere between 156 and 152 unless they changed it since I did it.

Rice balls are not a reliable way to check your fame. The price varies (as all NPC items do) with supply and demand as well as fame. The only real way to check your fame is to just go to Norg and talk to the fame checker guy.

And on a side note if you are doing necklaces it only takes about 160 to get enough fame (doing the quest 40 times), so just keep track of how many times you do it. You can pull it off in a few hours so not like it is hard.

Actually Weakness, it is a very reliable way to check your fame because for many the trip to Norg is a very hard one. True, the prices do fluctuate, but if the price for you is around what it should be, you can figure with the inflated NPC price it should be ok. Just use some guestimation.

Oh, I just thought of something, sorry weakness, that update they did where store prices rise exponentially when people buy that item one day. So yea...after SE implemented that it did become harder to determine your Norg fame, but not that many people buy rice balls (or didn't last time I played, maybe they do now), so I think it's still fairly reliable.

I found that the easiest way to increase Norg fame is to mine Zeruhn. A few stacks of pickaxes, a few stacks of fire/wind crystals, and not only do you have a boatload of Zinc ore, but you also have the ability to work on both smithing and goldsmithing. Zeruhn mines are also a great place to level lowbie jobs.

Three nights worth of mining with 3 stacks of pickaxes per night should get you enough zinc ores to boost you up.

Actually, its the easiest way to check your fame. Prices only change on guild merchants, and the npc in jeuno is not a guild merchant, therefore, does not change.

I think the equation was:

(Current riceball price -/- 154) times 12 (necklaces) in order to get the number of necklaces you still have to farm for sufficient Norg fame.

So 154 is the minimum price here. I do have to add that I did get the quest at the price of 155 and one time at 154. I suggest you just go to Norg when the price is at 154.

Good luck!

Last edit: I corrected the equation mentioned above ; ; Why I changed 12 into 4 is beyond me. Lemme crawl back into my hole again and feel ashamed of myself while tying myself a noose

All Tenshodo merchants are guild merchants.

Tenshodo merchants are definitely guild-like the way they do pricing. No one buys out all the rice balls in Tenshodo, though. It's not like bronze ingots at the smith guild. So, the price doesn't usually shift by much and it won't shift at all during the same Vanadiel day except due to fame. OTH, it most certainly can and will fluncuate from day to day and you can't really use a price-point from someone else as a test for fame except in the most general way; eg. I might be able to open quest at 160g rice, but you might need 152g. If you're at 200g, though, it's probably safe to say you need more fame work.

Unless you're using a mule for utsusemi:ichi, you might as well just invest in maximizing Tenshodo. You'll want it max or near-max eventually for other things (like SMN Avatars).

Please, by all means, go buy riceballs from the NON GUILD MERCHANT upfront, buy 100k worth, the price will be the same the next day.
