Okay, so I've been playing on PS2 since it came out. Unfortunately my graphics card on my PC was not able to run FFXI, no biggie! But I recently installed Radeon 9800 on my PC so I'm finally able to play on my computer.

My question is this:

My girlfriend wants to start playing, so I figured I would just have her play on my PS2 while I play on the PC. How would I go about setting this up? Two people can't play on the same account correct? I would have to use my POL account to play my character on the PC, so what would I have to do to be able to let my GF play on the PS2? And would I have to get a World Pass? Hmmm...so confused :\

Any help would be most appreciated!!! Thanks ;)

You have to buy another copy of the game, and CoP, then install it on the PC.

Unless you dont ever plan on playing together, then you can just share the content ID you have now.

If you create a new character on your current account, it will go to Bismarck by default.

If you buy a new game (Realy just buying a new content ID) then you will have to buy a wolrd pass.

You don't have to buy a world pass to get on the server you want. Anyway, a new copy of the game is a MUST. I am almost positive you two want to play together. I play on PS2 and when my friend isn't home I play on his PC. Before you log into PoL go back and you can create a new user and assign it a password so no one else can get on it. My friend's PC has Mine, his, and two other friends accounts on there... of course your settings, backgrounds, bgm's wouldn't be on your PC but those are easily replaced/fixed/downloaded or whatever....I suck at explaining things... hmmm... sorry lol

Well, you could create and delete char's till you get on the server you want but come on, it's just easier to get a WP and they aren't that expensive.

I have the set up described, my PC (Barely) runs FFXI and my Wife plays on that and I play on the PS2. This will probably change as soon as I get a new PC, even with the crap PC the graphics are a LOT better on PC :)

Well I have a copy of FFXI that I never installed on my PC because I initially purchased it.... then found out I wasn't able to run it (I know, stupid mistake on my part). So I have the copy of the game for the PC!!

But I'm going to want to play "my character" on the PC, so I'd have to use the POL account from the PS2? Is this even possible, or am I just going to have to start over on the PC version. If thats the case, I'll let her use the PC version and I'll stick with the PS2.

I hope this makes sense

EDIT: And yes, we'd probably like to play at the same time if possible...

NO!! you don't have to start over!!! Dude, I play on my PS2 mainly... when my friend Kestias' computer is free I play my character on his PC.. and when my friend Alerek's PC is open I play on there.... You know how you boot up PoL and you are instantly taken to the password window? Well go to cancel.. and how it has a list of things to do on the left and on the right it would have say "Aidayn" with the person logo next to it or whatever... well you can set it up so both you and your wife have one of those. And it doesn't cost anything either... I have my PoL account and characters on two PC's and my PS2... I suck at explaining things but hopefully I am getting somewhere...

OK say you install FFXI again on the PC... You install everything, put in all the registration codes... get your new ID number.... you can give the ID number and password to your wife... take your old ID number and password... set it up so you can log into PoL on the PC with your old ID and PW.... your wife could then take the new one... set that one up on the PS2... she could create a new character and you would have your old one on your PC.

I truely deeply am horrible at directions... especially if I can't point stuff out and show examples... but I hope this helps

No problem!

Me and my friends are all crazy with this game because usually three of us play in the same room so we've experimented with all kinds of crazy stuff!

Another nice thing about that set up is I have my PS2 next to my PC, so I can PL a char I created on my wife's account with Wintaru ^^

Imagine taking a Mithra thief to 20, getting SJ, and all without having to PT in the dunes ^^ It's very nice, Findarato is level 7 Thief, SJ already leveled to 15 (gonna switch her to NIN at 30 for a sub), and rapidly gaining XP. She's averaging 140-180 xp per battle with Wintaru curing her and therefore tanking ^^

I hear you. I'm pretty much dropping wintaru from any other jobs than WHM and BLM (main and sub) because I honestly don't have the time to raise anything else if I hope to have AF by the end of this year (and I really want it^^). So making a new char to be PL'd was a great option.
