For WAR your best support job now (being that you have unlocked some advanced jobs) would be NIN. Otherwise, MNK.

If you want help with WAR subjobs I recommend going to the WAR forum on this site, there are some very helpful posts and people willing to help out.

People use /NIN so that they can dual wield to add more damage and so that they can blink tank. What you really have to ask yourself is, "What do I want out of playing WAR?" You could probably go /NIN for damage dealing and never even use Utsusemi, but if people see you are playing WAR/NIN they are probably going to expect you to have Utsu. If you want to tank I would (and do) go with /MNK: it adds much needed HP and VIT as well as some hate enhancing tools. Boost and Provoke as often as possible and you shouldn't have a hard time holding hate.

Send me a tell in game if you want, I'm always willing to help when I can.

Dude, suck it up and do the tenshodo fame and get Utsusemi. It's worth the time and the effort. And if you ever expect to play NIN without Utsusemi you will go directly to NIN Sin Hell.

You'll need to turn in about 200 (I did). Maybe more or less depending if you have done the Selbina Sheep guy quest any. I even had to do 2 small quests (rusty Subligar and Leggings quests) and the Tonko quest in Norg before I was able to get the Utsusemi quest. Good luck!

Hey there Axle, I'm a warrior also, so I just thought I'd let you know my experience as to your subjob choices and what they offer.

War/Mnk: A tough cookie. This combo resembles a Pld almost. One gets a good amount of HP and some Vit to boot. The job abilities this combo yields are also very tank freindly. Counter from the monk is great. Boost adds attack and some hate. Dodge is handy in a pinch.

War/Thf: Damage, pure and simple. When you go this route grab the meanest Great axe you can and stack Sturmwind and Sneak Attack as often as possible.

War/Nin: A great tank. The dual wield abitlity sure does look cool, but all in all is a minor bonus pre 50 (or sans Shasari). In most cases a great axe is more damaging. This combo depends on Utsusemi tanking. At minimum this combo will result in 6 free hits wasted on shadows. Without it your just a War/Mnk that looks a bit cooler and has less HP, no counter, boost, or dodge.

There you have it. Some people will make a case for samuria, but I have not tried it, so I cant comment.

I don't think you can get negative fame, and AFAIK, doing the Tenshodo quests doesn't lower your fame elsewhere, so it'd be a good idea to get the most out of the Selbina quests before you start on Tenshodo. That's effectively what I did. I have nearly maximum (if not max) Norg fame. I walked right in and got the Leviathan and Utsusemi quests without anything else (and my riceball price was 156).

You can get fame from Norg negated by the Selbina Sheep quest, it's been proven. By others and myself (out of cusiosity). After I did the Utsusemi and Tonko quests and accepted a couple other NIN scroll quests, my Rice Ball price was 154. After turning in around 9 stacks of boyhoda moss to the sheep guy, my rice ball price is 158, so it definately effects it.

You can get negative fame. The Blackmail quest in San lowers your san d'oria fame. The Cornettes quest in Windy lowers you Bastok fame. If you get caught on the smuggling quest, your tenshodo fame goes down.

Nonono... I mean a *net* negative fame. In other words, if you have done *no* Tenshodo quests, and you do Only The Best a few hundred times, your Tenshodo fame is still *zero*.

WOW! i didnt think id get nearly this many posts. I lvld my MNK last night so i can use it until i get enough fame for utsusemi. Thanks alot you guys for all your advice. Now a second question, whats the best sub for MNK?

I'd have to say SAM, maybe WAR. SAM will give you a load of TP to use, but WAR will give you Berserk and Double Attack and Physical Attack Up.

THF would also be an option, but I think the bonuses given by SAM or WAR outweigh Sneak Attack and eventually Trick Attack.

Definitely not NIN. Dual Wield would go to waste, and the Ninjutsu won't help you much at all. RNG is useless since you couldn't equip any ranged weapons as a MNK, and the Accuracy Bonus just isn't as useful as the other jobs.

Best sub for mnk = war or thf, and since you already have war just sub that.
