See a lot of people look at me and think he must be a noob low rank low lvl jobs etc. i ahve a life outside of FFXI. I only play to have fun. The xp is good but it is not all about this game. I see a lot of people xping and not doing anything else and guess what they get burned out of the game because they get tired of xping. And frankly i got tired of xping the little time i am doing it. A lot of the players in this game and in a lot of the games all they want to do is be the highest rank and the highest job. When was the last time you took a choco ride just for the heck of it not to go anywhere just for the heck of it. i do it all the time to see the sights. This game has got to get out of the xp grind and more into the fun and excitement of the game . Sry for the long rant i will try to shorten the rest :P Try doing lv 1 fun runs w/ your ls or try to have a choco race from windy-sandy both events are freaking awesome. Or if you are not making enought gil instead of famring craft. Crafting is a lot of fun I do my crafting on my bros characrter to lvl up his skill. And SE knows that people ge ttired and burn out from xping that is why they make the events like summerfest so you can start doing other things besides lvling. And yesa they do this for financial reasons but hey it works out for everyone we get activities to knock us out of the lvl grinding and they get paid It is a win-win situation :P (sarcasm) Ok tyvm for hearing me out i had to get that out. And sry again for the LONG post
(^ ^)y And i promise to never write a long thread ever again.

Why do you think I have my craftskills up? I hate leveling. I'd much prefer to chat with my LS and craft stuff to sell than to go exp grind for hours on end just to get to 75. Hell, I could be 75 by now had I stuck with WHM, but I preferred to take a different route, that will be more fun for me.

*raises a glass* HERE HERE!
I've been known to go up to two weeks without leveling. I love working on my crafts when I can. Not only is it my income source, but I do get a certain mini-thrill at watching my skill go up, or succeeding for the first time on a complex synth. First time I succeeded at making a bronze bed, I was dancing around LOL.
And that's not all I do in my sparetime, I've spent hours messing 'round in the dunes wiping out trains, or just on a whim, stop to help out a party, or even go with my LS friends on a quest. And I love following some quests, just for the storyline.
There's so much to do, and so much more to see (especially now that the patch changed some scenery). I say "live it up a little".

Rate up! Unlike the people who rated you down, I tend to agree. This game is HUGE, and needs more people like you who just enjoy the game for what it is. More people need to stop and smell the roses. But on the other hand, some people actually enjoy the exp grinding every day whenever they can. *gasp*

Someone rated you down for this? How lame... :P Rate up from me. :)

I agree...I'm still at Lv. 30 tops, but that's because I got burned out on THF and just needed a break from it all. I played around with some other jobs and did a lot of crafting, and now I'm ready to get back into gear, with a slightly adjusted plan even. :D Meanwhile, my friend who's a DRK54 and was in Valkurm at the same time as me is starting to get a little tired of the level push, and so she's taken to Woodworking, and she's a lot happier with the game again.

It's most important to have fun, regardless of what some of the hardcore people in the game think. Some people just go into games like this with the mindset that they have to rush as fast as they can to the top of the ladder, but once they do that, they feel they have nowhere left to go, and that's just sad. :(

Man, I agree with you with all my heart and soul. Why do you think I am a White Mage perpetually at lvl 30? I love exploring this world and its lore more than anything.

Yea, definately. Me and my friends are always exploring and doing fun things. Playing hide and seek is great fun! O_o We don't lvl that often, but when we do it's so much fun because we're friends and we're not power-crazy and super-serious and we do it all in one big chunk. Then we go back to just hanging out again. ;3

I've been playing for quite awhile now, and my main character is only level 21... I LOVE just running around town and talking to people. Oh...yeah.... I also seem to remember that in MMORPG, the RPG stands for role-playing game. I love to roleplay, and you don't need Uber level to do that. I seem to remember one night that me and Nighstintodream sat around and fished for EVER just talking in character... it was AWESOME!!! I think that everyone should try the roleplay aspect of the game at least once.

I love to just travel the lands and take screenshots of very beautiful areas to me. (look up my picture gallery thread here somewhere.. will be adding a couple more shots to it soon)

While I'm waiting for a friend to catch up to my lvl, and going through Finals... I have not leveled one bit. I've died, but I haven't gone through the tedium of xp gain for a while >.< I miss my AF, but I do enjoy some of the people I've happened to meet on my journies of helping and hunting. (Princesss, this means you *laughs* )

And frankly, I know as soon as CoP comes out, I'll start to feel a little envious that everyone else will be able to enjoy the new sights and sounds.

But definitely, I love xping, but saying hi to my friends, helping the newer adventurer's out.. that's some fun stuff.

I agree, even though I have to admit I enjoy leveling most of the time (unless people in the pt are fighting/argueing etc) even for hour on end days in a row. Most of my boredom is from sitting there LFP (monks curse) for hours on end, as Im doing right now. ; ;

But even after such pts when I dont feel like sitting, such as last night I hopped on a Choc at Dem and rode to Valk, to see the Swirling Vortex my LS had mentioned earlier. Then I caught the boat to Mhaura ran around Bubu to the Bibiki Bay zone place found it was sealed tightly, then I headed up to Meri Mts, and found a crater spot I had never noticed before. I ran up to Zi'Tah just to see, it had been a while sisnce I did the Sam quest, mobs get nasty there real quick. In Sauromugue I found out Tabar Beaks still hurt a little. Started getting tired so I headed to Jueno to sleep.

I like little adventures like these but leveling makes this possible I like exploring new areas, and seeing what I can kill solo. I still like Pting and meeting new people though.

I gotta agree there.. my first ever real lvl goal was to lvl high enough for raise to help occasionally at the dunes. I got that level, but realized that maybe, if I had my AF, I could do so much more. So now, my goal is to lvl for AF.

I gotta admit, adventuring is fun... but I can't stay the same level forever if I wanna go out and see new places. I could never have been able to explore the wonders of Zi'tah back at level 30 like I can at lvl 50... free to roam to most of the area without too much agro. Sure, the excitement of sneaking and invising in certain areas are great... but to stroll without the need... now that's pretty relaxing.

Here's to the fun of adventuring with some leveling thrown in. With a balance of both, life in Vana'diel is never truly dull.
