What do you think of the update changes?Follow

Looks like they nerfed rusty/padded caps and some other stuff but the other changes look pretty sweet all in all. The new equips with abilities looks interesting...

Couple things i really like:

First off, BLM getting to use some scythes is really cool. Though i don't think they really needed it, i mean, what kind of BLM needs to melee anyway? And i honestly think that any Elvaan or Galka that is now considering becoming a BLM because that weapon will help out with thier damage shouldn't hold their breath. The way i see it, BLM were getting sick of WHM getting hexastrike at 75 and they were kinda feeling left out.

Paladin getting raise at 50. Again, i think this is neat, but its really redundant in a party setting cause a good PLD is supposed to be the first to die. But, if it puts a smile on my roomies face now knowing that he can raise people in the dunes, im all for it.

Gobbie-bag quest 5. Keep em coming SE, im still not buying a mule.

Bard etudes now effect individuals...WOOOHOOO! This makes my job so much better, now i can give +VIT to tanks, +DEX to RNG and DRK, and +MND to my mages. And here's the greatest part...I DON'T have to move ^^. Thank you SE

Some good, some pointless in my opinion. But those are the ones that stuck out in my mind

Some are okay, but if you ask me, BLMs getting to use scythes?
RDMs can't even skill up staff, and we're MAGES...So BLMs get scythes...Leave it to SE to make absolutely no sense in any manner whatsoever.
Other than that, DRGs seem to have been improved, though they will never be completely ungimped until(if) Penta Thrust returns more TP like it once did.
Bio and Dia using less MP seems pretty cool as well, I guess.
But again, no critical updates. All stuff we lived and could've continued living without, so.
Thanks for the updates, SE! Now I can cast Bio more often to skill up Dark faster, whilst watching a taru BLM with a scythe run by me, that'd make an awesome scene.
'till I run back to the Jeuno AH, and see how many useful items are being jacked up in price and sold by gil farmers.
Good job addressing the real problems on the servers.
When that list of updates says "All players above 50 gain an ability called 'Smite Gilfarmer'" THEN I'll be happy.

Well to be honest i Appreciate the Dia and Bio MP changes 59mp is quite bad at least 30 is more managable. and Regarding teh BLM Weapon use it will probally be similar to BLM using Bilibo's they get no WS and they hit for nothing. I dont thin you will see a blm him somehtin gwith Shadow of Death or anything.

The one thing i Begged SE to do which absoluelty sucks is to give us RDM more Sword WS's since our AF1 is a sword. I mean shining blade is all good and all and Once i get to Later 50's i will get Spirits Whithin and all but why couldnt we have Seraph blade or Vorpal Blade? I also know that we do not gain TP easily since we do rest after each fight but it would have been nice to have so Decent WS's esepcially when farming but o well.

Aside from that i think all the Updates are great Especially teh XP Hike at 51 and 61 that will help get 10k Xp needed to get to lvl 52. So i say bravo to SE for continue to make the game fresh and exciting

Fastah!

Euh... hmm. Ya them updates... Raise 1 at 50. I think i speak for every pally when i say: yay

They did nerf the NIN but didnt buff the PLD for HNM fights, so frankly, it just makes the whole population worst off towards the end fights. Fenrir was a decent challenge with two good blink tanks, now its possible he will become one hell of a fight.

I dont think it will really hit the NIN on xping thou. Many popular xp mobs dont have any AE, just like beetles, spiders, dhamels etc.

Nyways back to dowloading...

It's funny to see all the people on the main page complaining about the Padded Cap "nerf" and how it has suddenly made their Blacksmithing skill "useless"...

It appears the windower was also patched in this update.
**** you, SE.

Wow, this patch has A LOT of great stuff. And I really can't call the utsusemi changes a "nerf," except to sub NINs. They make it so Physical AoEs have the chance to remove more than 1 shadow. Yeah, and?

Anyways, there are a lot of cool things, like BLMs with scythes, bigger gobbie bags... I don't think anyone can be that dissapointed with it. The new "enchanted" and "dispensing" equip sounds interesting...

One of the nicest things for me though, is the exp increase for levels 51+ and 61+, just as I get to 50, and back to leveling.

Sucks about the padded cap buying price, but they also added new recipes, and new guild point items...

I'm downloading the patch now and I can't wait to play!!!

the Dia II thing is a big help.

Also as far as the scythe thing, I'm pretty sure itll be a farming only thing. I highly highly doubt blm will be able to use a scythe in party play, as they would likely hit for about 5% accuracy.

rusty cap thing sucks, my smithing is at lvl 20 almost high enough to make caps, and now I dont have that to look forward to.. ><

I couldnt agree more on the rdm sword WS. Give us one freakin WS thats EX please god. Or at least give us a vorpal blade or something decent. I'm stuck at lvl 60 still using my very first weapon skill(fast blade), because I cant get anything better until Savage Blade... please SE thats ridiculous.

Pld raise at 50 is pretty cool, im sure the Pld's love it, even though it doesnt have much use in a party situation except rare cases, Im sure pld's will still put it to good use.

Perhaps, but staff skill would be as meaningless to me as divine skill.

I have access to the good weapon skills because I sub dark knight, so my complaint is not getting an increased sword skill cap while black mages get an entirely new combat skill altogether.

Anyway, decreased spell cost for Dia II...oh yes....^.^

Fix things that needed to be fixed and some I wish they didn't touch. >.<

First of off Ill start with ninja since thats what I am o.o Overall I thought it was going to be a lot worse. Still can tank very well in my opinion so I don't plan on changing jobs. By Ill tell you the truth I wouldn't of been suprised to see S-E pull some extremely **** move like "Use JA provoke will cancel out the ninja spell utsusemi", but thank god I don't have to get extremely pissed ^^

Black mage with scythes sounds uber cool. Even though it may be useless, sounds wicked cool. You never know if they might add job specific scythes for BLM eventually that give -enmity or some nice INT+.

I personally think it is extremely stupid that they are more worried about a windower than gilfarmers and NM pop times where **** get advantages.

I love how it says they added the word "rear" to the translator, many people are going to have fun with that one.

Enchanted and dispensing equipment intrigues me, Id love to see how they work that.

HOPEFULLY they place a nomad moogle in selbina and mhaura. I also wouldn't mind a mini-choco verndor too ;]

There is one simple phrase I *REALLY* wish they'd add to the auto-translator.

"I will pay."

Oh..and I gotta say this just for fun:

THEY'RE NERFING WINDURST! THE QUON CONTINENT GETS BOTH OF THE NEW REGIONS AND THE MAJORITY OF THE NEW ZONES! MINDARTIA GOT CRAP!

Okay, that's all. :P

Two new regions added: Movalpolos and Tavnazian Archipelago. As best as I can tell, Tavnazia is accessed from Gustav Tunnel, and Movalpolos from Palborough.

Additionally, the following regions have new zones added:
Fauregandi (Pso'Xja, The Shrouded Maw)
Norvallen (Phanauet Channel, Carpenters' Landing)
Valdeaunia (Uleguerand Range, Bearclaw Pinnacle)
Aragoneu (Attohwa Chasm, Boneyard Gully)
Kolshushu (Bibiki Bay, Manaclipper)

There's also a bunch of location listings for the crags specifically. My wife was always hoping to be able to go *inside* the structures, so that sounds really awesome.

Wintaru gains the effect of Barslapra
Wintaru readies Seraph Strike
Wintaru hits Kingpopof for -1 damage
/em runs like hell

:P

Too bad you couldn't raise when we were in Eldieme, that would have been handy.

I'm currently unable to log onto FFXI, so is there anyone who is that can tell me if the new regions are on the region map yet? Obviously you can't enter them till CoP is released, but anyone know if you can actually see their position? It's be extremely nifty if you could.

I believe Ele posted a link to the main forum where the names are listed. Looks the the new Regions are going to be in Sandy and Basty's areas. A lot of existing regions have new areas added to them.

It seems that some people are getting CoP already, althought it sounds like they can't hit the new areas until the NA release. A couple of our members got the new Gobbiebag V quest but the items sound distinctly CoP'ish ^^

All in all, I think that the update rocks. SE really knows what they are doing and it shows.

I hate the padded nerf. I saw it coming which is why I hurried up to get my mule's smithing up high enough to do it, I made enough to buy my Dark Staff and Light Staff, and even put my clothcraft to 68.9 (from 65ish) and get my Weaver's Apron. But, I was saving up for a Vermillion Cloak now and shiz, that's not going to happen now lol.
