The other day I was looking for a party and a friend of mine and I decided to start one ourselves. Now, being the job class i am and being invited to pt more than not, I'm usually not the party leader and has been a while since I've been. Now in this situation i ended up being the party leader. After a little bit we get a party together we head out to Quicksand caves and start to kill stuff and get decent exp but great chaining. Anyway, what i found with this pt is there was a little disagreement in stuff like skillchains and whether or not we should go to Garliege and pt there (people disagree, it's human nature). Now of course being the party leader, i have to listen to all opinions and make a decision and personally I'm a pretty laid back whm and go with the flow. I just don't like pissing off people. Anyway, the point of this thread is I would like to give a big Kutos to all you party leaders out there who enjoy being the leaders and keep parties happy for long periods of time. I personally had a great time with the party we had and everyone was generally happy and people did there jobs great. I just wanted to give my 2 cents about my rare experience as a party leader. The stress of being the leader and hopeing everyone was happy just is not something I enjoy.

So once again, you willing party leader rock. We've all had people try to pawn off leader and everyone go 'nooooo'. You can have all the good players in the world in your party but being a team and working together is what makes for good fun. This takes a good leader. Keep up the good work, It's tough at times and you deserve more credit.

Hey Vim, good call. I hate being leader with a passion. I just hate doing searches basically.

Anyhow, off subject. Sorry I bailed after one BCNM last night, but to be honest as badly as that first one went, I didn't see how the second one could have gone much differently. I think if the RDM would have used Dispel on the main worm, my 2 hr would have done more than like, 200 dmg, lol. It just didnt appear we really knew what we were doing (myself included) and if I died another time I would have been really far behind my static in XP, and I was already trying to catch one of our members as it was.

So, sorry all if you guys thought we were gonna do like 4 or 5 of those, but I didn't want to end up at level 38.

Heh, I am usually the party leader because I am a DRK and I have to make my own exp party else I dont get exps. Not because I like being a leader. ><;

When I play my RDM as fun job, I am never the leader. Leader is just too much work.

no prob Triz, it was a wise choice....we we're really over our heads (*sigh*- i'm BCNM cursed/gimped/dumb). Let me know if you want to go to your doom again, I'll be happy to join the slaughter (I feel bad for Chisusu who died twice in the fight x.x...but she's quite the good sport :)). Those worms made my hit list, alongside Leviathan....and ghouls (can't wait to hit 50= HOLY ^^)

Alright bud. I just think its tough to throw a few people together who ahve never even pt'd together before to do a BCNM, especially that one!

I think a good one to start on is the one with the one big Crawler. He has a ton of HP, but with 3 BLM/ 2 RNG and WHM, it can be done, or all RNG and WHM, or basically any combination of high dmg dealers and whm it can be your first victory lol.

Yeah, I felt bad for Chisusu, too. And after her second death, it was absolutley not the time and place to say "I told ya so!" But, I did tell her not to try that. That sucked.

I don't mind being party leader, and I've been party leader on more than one ocassion, people love me!
No, really, they do!
I've played a lot of jobs, and pretty much know what it's like from their perspective, thus I can understand if they're having a hard time doing something, etc etc.
I can also make up skillchains off the top of my head sometimes, don't even know how I memorized some of them, but they're mostly SAM/THF/MNK ones, since I got those to 30+.
Anyway, it shouldn't be as stressful as you claim, and that's why the "Change leader" button was invented, just give it to someone else and they'll take the party straight downhill. =P

People treat you differently when you have something they want. When I am DRK and invite random people they usually gives me less positive response compare to my experience inviting people as RDM.

Besides, as RDM, I get 2-3 invites on peak time in the first 10 min I change my job. I only assume leader as RDM when I see a full party worth of LFG players in Jeuno and everyone is too lazy to become a leader. (Yes, they torment me even when I am not a DRK XD)

I love being the leader of parties. Since I was level 17 with my Warrior I have been the leader of almost every party I am in. I have also has many people tell me how good of a leader I am and how they would love to party with me another time. That was what made me decide to always lead parties If I could. And when a leader has to go I will always offer to take leadership just because I have been doing it for so long.

Well, I do applaude you all for your work. It's a little tougher for me because I tend not to pay too much attention to skillchains and such (since I don't participate in them). Party Leader is never easy. Kutos Yekan for taking the helm as a fellow whm. /bow

I respect all who would put a party together and take the initiative to get everyone on the same page so the party will work out well. Players who like to be leaders deserve an A+ for their efforts! ^^

And Triz and Vim, I didn't mind dying on the BCNM(even if it was twice X.x) I had an idea that had a small chance of working, but I was willing to try because it was better than just giving up. I'm sorry that it didn't work out. ; ; And Triz "I told you so"...all I can say is lol and oh well it didn't work out. ^^; I am willing to try it again and I have researched more about it now. Also Triz which one is the big crawler one? That could be fun. ^^

Thanks for the link Triz! I'm gonna have to try that one it looks like fun for BLMs. ^^ Now my main problem is most of my friends are WHMs... >.> Hmmm... I have to try this BCNM. Also Triz don't worry about the multiple deaths. I got the lost xp back in a xp pt right after the failed BCNM last night. ^^ We need to try it again but with a better strategy and more organization. I know hate worms now and I must go kill random worms that I see in Vana Diel. If you wanna try either of the 2 BCNMs then send me a /tell in game. I'm always up for BCNMs. I need money for my staves and erase for Cholala.

P.S. That BCNM was nuts, but it was fun for the short time we were in there. I just can't believe your EES only did 200 dmg O.o!!

Lol, yeah I was just guessing on the 200 dmg, but I watched it's HP meter and it barely moved. Like I said, Dispel would have helped (I think it had Stoneskin up). Plus, I think with that one basically the BRD needs to just keep spamming Horde Lullaby when possible, and not doing much else, because those worms woke up pretty quick. Even poor Spantz just kinda stood there at first for a bit, wondering what to do. If we try it again we definately need a better strategy than that one.

For palsborough BCNMs you'd need:
2 RNGs 3 BLMs 1 RDM
Or you could do 3 RNGs 2 BLMs 1 RDM.
BLMs use Sleepga, and everyone beats on the big worm, there's no point in dispelling stoneskin, just beat it a few times and it'll go away(magic also makes it disappear). As soon as the big worm is dead, BLMs go to rest while the RNGs pick a worm to keep beating on, RDM should use convert by now and keep them alive. Once the BLMs are full they step back in and spam -ga until every worm is dead, the last couple of worms everyone else can just step in and melee them while the RNGs keep spamming arrows
Had 6/6 successful runs this way, might wanna give it a shot.

I fully agree with you Triz. A better plan must be made. We will go i next time with better knowledge as well. We just need more prep time next time. Unlike last time when we were mainly discussing how the treasure was to be divided up. ^^; Lets just plan it out carefully and we can win that BCNM. ^^

I thought about this too, thanks for mentioning it. BCNM's are kinda basically set-up for massive dmg dealers. Then how do you incorporate your buddies into these who are say WHM or PLD? Are they kinda just SoL?

What about us poor little summoners??

Guess we'll have to wait until CoP updates :)

You could use a PLD for the Giddeus BCNM, this BCNM could use any job combo, currently I have a set party for Giddeus BCNM and we have...
DRK, RDM, BRD, BLM, BLM, THF.
THF is very useful, BRDs build a lot of hate with horde lullaby, and using sata onto the DRK(Don't really need a hardcore tank, the onions hit pretty wimpy) is the perfect way to get hate on him and off the BRD, our THF also spams arrows which cause a lot of damage, you could use a WHM here instead of an RDM, but note he'd have to bring juices and always watch his MP carefully, and if you bring a PLD, you might want to make him a PLD/NIN or something, and have THF sata the hate to him.
Now for the reason we have a DRK, the black mandy uses flood, so Stun is just the ticket.
Either way it's your call, I've seen BCNMs in which the mandy doesn't cast flood at all, Utsusemi can absorb Flood, so really it's up to you.
-edit-
SMN/WHM could be just a WHM with lesser cures and more MP I guess <.<
