Last night we set out for Eld. Nec. for coffer keys. 3 of us are from the same static + 3 others who were helping and/or needed keys themselves. 6 of us lvl 54-58 I believe. Anyway, finally get to the Hume Bones area, first pull didn't go as planned, 2 died before I could get the escape off. Not the best way to start but hey! It happens.

Next thing I know, one of the peeps that died, disbands and logs. Not a word before he winked out. At least to me. This person is part of my static and this behavior did not come as a surprise. I'm sick of it. None of us like to die and sometimes we get just as pissed when it happens but I would never leave anyone hanging like that. Especially, my friends.

So to my static I say GOODBYE! I'm done with the tempermental BS.

I'd have to agree, that isn't appropriate behavior for someone who is in your static party of all places! Good luck though, I am sure you will find another in no time.

One thing i'll say about the Necropolis, the best piece of advice anyone has given me about that place ever:

"Pull the undead with cure and they will never ever link"

It made the Necropolis so very very nice. Adds will still happen if you have a group of mages standing a little too far back or if a curious newly undead decide to strike it out on his own and begin wandering toward all the ruckus a party is causing, but it isn't so bad!^^

Heh, I was one of the guys trying to help with this. This experience confirmed my "help curse". See, I've been lucky to be the recepient of a lot of help in this game from quests, to xp, to missions. Now that I am able, I keep trying to help people with the things that they need and something always seems to go wrong. This was the third thing lately that I've tried to go help on and has gone horribly wrong. So don't be too discouraged, just count yourself as a victim of my cursed aura. Two of the three bad episodes were in Davoi, so I thought the curse may have been related to that, but after last night, it seems to be anchored on me. Sorry for the mess >_<

---- The stuff below is probably more appropriate for the Eld. Coffer Hunt Quest thread ---

After the final failed attempt to camp up at H8 I do have to concede to Bhone that Human Bones was the place for us to be. He was also right in saything that camping there required one of two things: 1.) 2-3 High level people that could have solo'd the non-key dropping mobs or 2.) a pet puller that could have pulled the key droppers from behind the non-key droppers. The low HP aggro range seemed to be bigger than I remembered. The 3rd add we got came after us from 6 miles away. Seriously, he was out of breath by the time he got there.

>>> This was supposed to be a reply to Namfoodle's post, but the board seemed to lose that somewhere in all my reloading and editing <<<

The problem we had was cure pulling was this:

X = mob we want (key-dropper)
O = mob we don't want (non-key-dropper)
P = our camp

** see diagram below **

If you go try to cure pull an X, your sneak will drop and the O's will get you on the way back. I don't think /pet "Assault" and /pet "Retreat" cause sneak to drop (but I'm not sure). If they don't, then we need to sneak up the SMN, and let them pet pull the Xs.

              | X |
   |   |      | X |
---+   +------+   |
     P    OO O    |
---+   +----------+
   |   |

I didn't expect this thing to be a cakewalk. And I'm not complaining about how it went. No need for anyone to be sorry about any of it. We appreciated your help, Hogosha. The cause for my irritation is the events immediately following the first pull. (you were there when the WHM pulled a Copperfield)

That was how the first mob was pulled, which resulted in 3 or 4 mobs and the 2 deaths.

I was too far back to see mob placement. I didn't know there were a few behind the puller.

Do you mean Invis? Sneak never drops on me if I cast, at least that I've ever noticed...

The sneak drops when you cast cure but strangely enough, you can recast sneak without sneak dropping. Hmmm. I was there last night also and it was a mess. Even got aggro WITH sneak on. I think we killed 2 key droppers in like 3 hours, escaped 3 or 4 times, had 6 total deaths amongst party. Totally blew but I was very appreciative of the people that came to try and help.

We wouldve been okay if we had a high lvl puller who didnt get aggro.Killin the mob wasnt the issue. Pullin without getting aggro was.

Sneak will drop once you get hit and then the lovely mobs will link. I didn't even think about that, sorry! I don't know about SMN and dropping sneak either...but I think that I will do some experimentation with it! I need to settle the "What happens when Carby tries to pull around linking mobs" arguement in my Linkshell anyway.

Thanks! And, sorry again! ><

Yes, using an SMN to carby-pull will NOT drop sneak, and it's a VERY good way to do it. When I was hunting my eldieme coffer key, it resulted in MANY deaths from people helping me SEVERAL times, the way you would do it is get rid of the mobs you don't want first, and then go on to the ones you do want, or try the spriggan camp. The spriggan camp is slightly more dangerous, but all the mobs you need will spawn there, and with an experienced party, you should be okay.
It's a very slow key, I know, it's nearly unbelievable how horrible that drop rate is. But yeah, gonna have to do it sooner or later so, might as well spend a week or 2 down there and just get it over with.
Good luck!
