EU Player Returning to FFXIFollow

#1 Sep 06 2004 at 1:25 PM Rating: Decent
I imported FFXI back at the time of the American release, well almost a month after, I got it around christmas, anyway, by February I had deleted my account. I ran into some bad people, I guess I was a little bit of a punk myself at times, but it spoilt my game.

Anyways, backstory is now.. behind me, as COP is coming out I decided to reorder the game, so I will be playing again with a new account on a new server, Bismarck this time.

As I know which server im going to be joining I felt I would post on the server forum and see if anyone could give me some information on nifty ways to make a buck on this server. Perhaps tell me places where botters/campers/gil-sellers camp out areas too heavily for the average gamer to get a slice of the action.

Maybe some information on the current state of economy, whats hot and whats not.

By the way, im going to be a Taru BLM/WHM, just like I was before I quit quite a while back, if anyones interested, but itll take me a long time to get up to the level I was before I quit again. ^__^

Thanks for any replies in advance, maybe a forum conversation could start if there are any active people around to talk to me.

Could you use a spellcheck before you post please, im having difficulty understanding what language you're trying to speak in.

Hopefully English isnt your first language, if it isnt your first language, then you're not doing so bad at all.

Edit: Im kind of sad more people didnt reply to this post yet, but maybe this is a dead time for the forum.

I'd say the easiest way to make a buck is to farm and sell stacks of items first, or if you have the time craft them into more expensive items. As you probably realised through playing before, its easier than most new players think to get by in this game, you can re-sell armor to make money to buy new armor, and from gathering crystals and other items from creatures at the start of your game you can horde up cash quickly and easily.

I think the guy above was talking about the September realease of the EU version of Final Fantasy, in my opinion you should wait for that, im playing an american import and now i have to go through the trouble of importing the expansion!!

Let me know your name when you get online and i'll help you out ^^

I used to play the import, ive preordered the EU version which im getting the day after it ships to retailers, should be one of the first in England to get it.

I know of many ways to get cash, but maybe there were speciic items that sold well on Bismarck.

Also, craft skills eat more money than they make, so I wont be training one for quite some time, except maybe carpentry or something, so I can make logs into lumber. ^__^

Anyway, discussion, conversation or any advice is welcome, if ive heard it before or know it then it doesnt matter, its the thought that counts.

Im sure lots has changed in FFXI since february.

Edit: By the way, where in England are you Mortichis?

Currently, after browsing through a lot of other server forums, I can tell you that Bismarck has a fairly stable economy compared to quite a few other servers. Wind Crystals and other consumables (shihei and such) have gone up in price, but that is most likely due to everyone getting back to school and less farmers around to offset the market. Certain elemental staves (notably Ice, Dark, and Light) have gone down, due to the upsurge in people growing elemental ores and such. There are quite a few rusty fishers (people who fish up rusty caps, repair them with Blacksmithing skill and sell back to an NPC for profit) so light crystals have gone way up (9-10k a stack). The items that remain popular on other servers are also popular on Bismarck: fire cystals, silk thread, cockatrice meat, moat carp, etc. The big ticket items remain fairly consistent, fluctuating around 50k or so during the course of a few months. Also, several higher level goldsmithing items have gone down, due to a few goldsmithers who are trying to compete with each other specifically by undercutting.

This server forum is actually one of the most active server forums on Alla I've found. Bismarck itself is a great server, not too overtly crowded and filled with enough good players and people. When EU players come in, I imagine a certain shift in the population due to the release of EQ2 and WoW drawing away a few people who may have become tired or frustrated with this game.

We, like all other servers, have our sets of gil farmers. They haven't really ruined the economy or anything, but it is prudent to watch out for them as they've been known to steal mobs, points, and/or get people in their PTs in trouble due to their lack of expertise with the game: the Zooes, the Jerrys, the Happy crew, and the Redapples are ones I am aware of.

Well, if you do decide to join Bismarck, feel free to send me a /tell in game. I like to meet new people and would be happy to help you get on your feet as it were. Cheers.

Endsville's thread says it all, he's summed it up nicely. Economy wise we seem to be doing ok, we are rich in good players as well, I've met and PT'd with several who post here and they are all good people.

My wife and I went to London for 8 nights for our honeymoon, gotta say I love England, it was great ^^
