So let me get this right I personally have yet to log in today so i dont know this for a fact however my LS is Emailing me saying that there will be an update on Labor day?

Has SE lost its mind?!?!?! An 8hour Update on a day where most people are not working and want to play?

This is quite frustraighting considering we just had an 8 hour update last week?

Is this true?

Yes, it's true.
Glad I kept my EQ accounts!

Keep in mind, Labor day only affects NA players.

Unfortunately yes.

There is a "complaint" thread in the main forum, where people are bouncing around the idea of petitioning or calling customer service to complain. If you feel that's something you'd like to do, you should head over there. Actually I believe some people have already done it and posted it on that thread. I never finished reading the whole thing.

**Ok, I just went back to try and find the thread for you and guess what? There are actually like 5 or 6 floating around there :/

Yep. They couldn't give two shits about an NA holiday. They still get paid regardless.

If you do call to complain, you will only get a sympathetic ear (in most cases) from C.S. They too are unhappy with this. Good to know some of them play as well!

Yea, I wasn't suggesting that the calls or petition would make much of a difference. I just wanted him to know he wasn't alone in his frustration.

Well, I have already sent in a complaint on both of my POL accounts, and when I can play tonite, I intend to be contacting GMs on both accounts as well.

Well, I have to try, I was looking forward to making a push to 50 with my LS ><.

I really don't understand their reasoning behind this, but a lot of people (I haven't fallen into this boat yet) believe that the Japan management is inherrently anti-US players. This could be true...or there could be some other more viable explaination. I'm not ready to believe that they hate us NA players, but the cooincidence in this situation just sucks ><

Well, it's either cutting into the JP player time or the NA player time. And there are quite a few more Japanese players than North American players. It seems to me to be the lesser of two evils, inconveniencing a few people, rather than the larger whole.

You are correct, sir. It's the anti-US side of SE coming out.

I personally will be spending my eight hour maintenance waiting period playing Star Ocean 3. ;)

They changed it to the 7th! I knew SE didn't hate us, the Japanese are too smart about business to **** off their customers ^^

Nah, it got changed because the techs came to their senses and realized that it was a day they could take off and still get paid for.

It doesn't bother me since I won't be home, but it sure does seem like we've been getting the short end of the stick huh?

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt but there's just too much evidence otherwise.

Oh well...I guess it's good that they're updating it...

I'd like to see them run fail-over servers myself. I mean, the price we're paying is a high one in the MMORPG field, and equipment purchases are one-time expenses. Why not simply have a second cluster mirroring the first, and switch the load to the second cluster when it's time to do maintenance on the first?

There's no reason that server maintenance has to mean downtime, save for a complete equipment relocation or other humongous logistical undertaking (IE - facility power outage due to upgrades, etc), or an update rollout that requires a server reboot (something that would require the fail-safe cluster to be restarted as well to avoid desync). And seriously...it shouldn't take 3 hours to reboot a server cluster.
