Now, I'm not a hater, I'm not against gambling, and I even like tarus. But, I was doing some smithing with my mule so I can put him in Rabao to fish up some caps when I noticed "Hiptaru" /shouting about his latest scam.
"I am Raffling off a Astral Ring! Tickets are 1k for this 200k item!! /tell Hiptaru if intersted!"
That's his sales pitch. Now, I dunno about you but I can get an Astral ring for 175-180k, even at the AH. Now, this is a SIMPLE discrepency, I simply said, 180k* a couple of times. He finally /tells me and says <Huh!?> in the auto translator. I say /check Tweedius, if you paid 200k you got ripped off. (I'm reading from my log right now).
He continues with the 200k bit, and I send him another tell (obviously I'm interested in how this will play out since he was so appologetic on these forums). I mention to him that I understand he was a casino runner, but I thought he was all apologetic about it (I didn't say it as nice as that). And he comes back with some stuff about blisting me (which is where we are now), calls me an ***, etc (I am an *** when I'm pushed).
Anyways, he goes on to call me some more choice names, and here I am telling you all about our nice Hiptaru all reformed from his casino running days.
What I don't understand is that, why would you guys fall for this latest scheme of his? The odds are worse then the casino he was running. And without the Mithra.
EDIT: I had to add, I wouldn't have even made a deal about it if he would have changed it to 180k...I didn't think it was a big deal, I thought it was a mistake on his part, but evidently, that's part of his sales pitch?

Yep, i got a nice little tell from tweedius about how the item does not sell for 200k. ok first of all, big deal, i am raffling it off for 1k a ticket.
and if you notice, there is already a post here about the Astral Ring for 1k! So people on the server already know about it.
I changed my /sh to item sells for 180k-200k and Tweedius just had to get himself all upset about it. even if the item sold for 100k, the ticket for 1k is cheaper than that.
I tell people if they dont want to play, then dont, but if you have some sort of grudge against me, which it looks like Tweedius does, then just blist me and move on.

I gace it a chance and i will not do it again unless he changes the way he does it. I am a galka mage i need that ring and really didnt; wan tto pay 180k for it and i had jsut won 70k for free so why not give it a shot I said. later i find out i had a 10% chance of winning the damn thing. I asked for the numerb fo ppl in it right before the drawing so I might be able to buy more tickets he couldn't do that. all i knwo is this is the last time i will ever do a raffle from him

not everyone's goal in life is to ***** people over. Perhaps you should try being a bit more open minded. I personally would not participate in this "raffle", but I don't have a care in the world whether Hip runs it or doesn't run it.

Sorry, I was at class all day so I didn't get to respond to anything, but your post above this one Hiptaru is exactly why I made this post. You're a misleading prick, plain and simple, I asked you why you were advertising your thing with a misleading price (You even admitted to paying 160k, if you do the math from a previous post of yours, for it and then were advertising it as a 200k item) and you blew up for no reason.
That's what this post is about, misleading (you've demonstrated how much of an *** you are and hung yourself on your own).

Tweedius, why did you feel the need to complain about this? People will gamble, both because they commit the gambler's fallacy and because they have the time and money to waste. It's not your problem. As for your concern about him 'mid-advertising' the price of the ring, I've seen Astral Rings go for up to 200k myself. It was none of your business, but you chose to try and become involved, and then became angry because he didn't listen to you. (I don't care who called who names in-game, incidentally, as you have two different stories with no way to verify what actually happened, unless you have screenshots).
I'm also disappointed in you, Hiptaruu. When we spoke in-game after the debacle with your first thread on casinos, you impressed me with how willing you were to talk rationally, and how much more mature you acted in person. But things like this:
do very little to advance your cause. You could have handled this much better, because let's face it, you're in an unpopular business. If you are unwilling or unable to deal with people who go out of their way to anger you, you shouldn't be doing these types of games. I don't think what you're doing is wrong, but being right and being popular are not the same thing.
The best way to handle it would have been to say something along the lines of 'I'm sorry you don't like it Tweedius, but you're welcome to play at any time, as is anyone else', and then LEFT IT ALONE. It takes strength to ignore people when they deliberately try to anger you; Tweedius is trolling you, and you allowed him to. I hope you can learn something from this.

It IS my (and every other person's who wants to enjoy the game) business that people run this kinda crap for this reason and this reason only.
People are inherently lazy. People are inherently lemmings. Add these two things together to make my point.
Why go out and spend 3 hours of your time killing mobs in Pashbow when you can POSSIBLY make one bet and win that amount in gil in 15 secs? This is what gamblers ask themselves TYPICALLY. This is how the majority of the people I know IRL started gambling...even if it is just buying lottery tickets. The lure of easy money.
How does this effect me? This is how. If Hiptaru was the only person doing the gambling /shouts and what not, no big deal. More power to ya. However we now wade into my second point. People are lemmings (typically because they are too lazy or stupid to come up with ideas on their own). So now we don't just have Hiptaru running spam /shouts wherever I go, we have about 6 of them in Sandy alone. The lag there is bad enough without seeing 3 to 4 lines of /shout text explaining the rules to these things every 15 seconds.
Then there are now posts INSTRUCTING more lazy, unoriginal people how to do this. As if it was not annoying enough already. I would love to send out a questionairre asking every person who ever signed up for this game why they did in the first place. If even one of those surveys came back stating, "So I can gamble at or run a casino!" then I'll shut the hell up. But you and I both know nobody signed up for this game to run casinos or gamble. They simply got bored and read some post somewhere and gave them the idea and dream of easy gil.
I, for one, actually care about the feelings of others and believe in courtesy. If there was anything "in-game" that I did on a consistent basis that the majority of people were against I would stop that practice all together. You know why? Because I am not the only person playing this game. I know I am a little older and may be old-fashioned, but I still believe in courtesy. Those who continually do these types of things, knowing the majority of people would not mind if they stopped are simply self absorbed individuals. Probably Mommy gives them what they want if they cry loud enough like Cartman. So, if these people are scorned and ridiculed by the majority, so be it. I applaud when they leave, I applaud when they do it quietly if they dont leave. However, just because someone "once" used /shouts and now does not doesn't mean sh'it to me now. Triz, even if everything else you said were true, than answer me this: how can you condemn Hiptarru or condone Tweedius' remarks (if you are, in fact, in agreement with them) based on what you said? It's hardly his fault that people are lemmings. If I tried a job combination that was stupid and didn't work, and somebody saw me out in the field and copied it (leading to everyone else doing it too, a la lemmings), would you be angry at me?

Because I am not the only person playing this game. I know I am a little older and may be old-fashioned, but I still believe in courtesy. Those who continually do these types of things, knowing the majority of people would not mind if they stopped are simply self absorbed individuals. Probably Mommy gives them what they want if they cry loud enough like Cartman. So, if these people are scorned and ridiculed by the majority, so be it. I applaud when they leave, I applaud when they do it quietly if they dont leave. However, just because someone "once" used /shouts and now does not doesn't mean sh'it to me now. You speak of courtesy, Triz, and I sympathize with with you. But I don't believe that we have any right to deny someone like Hiptaru the courtesy we would extend to others, even if we don't agree with what they are doing. We have the tools to deal with these people (e.g. the blacklist), and they are doing nothing that is against the ToS in any way. How, then, do we have the justification for judging ourselves superior?
I *don't* like the casinos, and I wouldn't play at this raffle. Hell, I tried gambling in real life once, lost a quarter, and thought it was a fool's pasttime. But people have a right to play, as long as they don't harm themselves or others. The only thing they can actually do to us is annoy us by their very existence, because we have the ability to ignore them. Perhaps its not they who owe you courtesy and respect, Triz, but the other way around.

I guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one Win because in this instance, I think your just wrong. Let's not try and compare this to discrimination against the "different" in society and everyone's equal rights for the love of God. And once again, why should I (or anyone else for that matter) extend any courtesies to someone who most obviously is only concerned with themselves? Not going to happen in this or any other situation.
Like I said, and I will restate. If it was I who was doing something that annoyed the masses, it is not their responsibilty to adjust their way of doing things (I.E. shout filters or ignore) to accomodate me. That, in itself, would be the definition of selfish. It would be my responsibility as a concerned and respectful individual to seriously look at what I was doing, how it affected others around me, and then answer this question. Do I care? If the answer is NO, then we get what we have now. My answer would be YES.
You kinda remind me of Spock sometimes (scary to admit, lol). Though very logical and intelligent, some things involving emotion and consideration just don't get through to you. Courtesy and respect go much further than laws or what any TOS states to me what is "right or wrong." If anyone does not have the ability to discern the difference between textbook right or wrong and morés of society, they will typically not be liked (not meaning you I know you know the difference).
EDIT: Wow. I actually take the time t give this post thought, proper punctuation and intellect and I get rated down because it was not pro-Hiptaru by one of his little ******** Fu[b][/b]ckers.

But aside from that, there's been a few posts on this very forum about Hiptaru, his casino, and his legitamacy. This post was to give people a first hand account of how shady Hiptaru is.
Lets look at it this way...if there is no way that someone can verify who was really supposed to win Hiptaru's game and you were just supposed to trust him at face value, how can one trust that he doesn't give it just to his friends instead of a legitimate winner. If a guy can't be honest about a price of an item and when confronted about it goes off wildly, how can one be trusted to raffle off an item fairly?

Well, to me this is all Water underneath the bridge, and i am moving on. You are right when you tell me that i handled it all wrong, i really did, and I am sorry that I got so pissed off a Tweedius, but even if i apologize to him, he will just try to turn it around into something negative about me.
I appreciate people defending me to a point, and i realize now that i am in a business that people hate, and i will have haters of all kinds telling me all sorts of rude things, and people like Tweedius, and Aceofwilds, and other people just trying to push my buttons and get a reaction out of me.
They succeeded in Pissing me off, and i let them get the best of me, but we Cant all be perfect like Tweedius and the rest of his followers. But really, since all of this controversial talk about it, i have gotten such a rise in ticket sales its uncanny, i really didnt think it would help, i was scared that everybody was gonna hate me, but it seems that alot of people dont want to voice thier opinions on these forums, because of the Donkeys that Just Go with the flow and rate down anything, and flame anything that certain people say. oh well
I am Sorry Tweedius, for being a Prick initially to you when we talked in game, It gets very frustrating when you get at least 30 /tell an hour about the rules and wondering if i am a scam or not and all of that, and you just Pushed me at the wrong time and i blew up on you. There is really no excuse for my actions except that yes.. I am a A$$hole sometimes, and you got to experience that, and thats all i am gonna say about it.
Once again, if you are on a mission to ruin my name and have nobody participate in any of my "Casinos" or "Raffles" then have at it, i enjoy the free Advertisement, and i dont even have to pay you to do it for me, like i pay everybody else with Free Raffle tickets or 35% of the winnings i make from a customer you refer..
I also will apologize again to anybody who found my retort offensive in any way, but the Line has been drawn, and it seems that enemies have been made. I am able to take on this challenge, and i am sure that we will cross paths again and maybe it will not be as harsh this time..
The Drawing for the 2nd Astral Ring is going to be held tonight at midnight, and if anybody on Bismarck has not Purchased thier tickets yet, you will have 4 hours to buy them when i get home, just send me a /tell if i am on..
So sorry for saying mean words and Venting on a public forum, but i am sure no matter what i do to have fun in the game, and have it centered around Gambling of some sort, i am going to have haters lined up.. Well, I am a forgive and forget type of guy Hiptaru. And, you pushed me at the wrong time too which is why I blew the issue up as well. To address some of your post, I am not a crusader of moral justice for all Vana`diel kind, I could care less what people do. I just think some people make it there mission to rip others off, and that is what you appeared to be doing.
If you think about it big picture, that 20k discrepency really wasn't anything, it was what we said to each other afterwards. I am sorry I blew it up, and good luck to you in game man.
