Hey ya,

I'm giving away 350,000 gil. The money will go to whomever can answer the following questions correctly.

Here are the rules, read them first:
  • The first person with each correct answer will receive 70,000 gil.
  • Each person can only win ONCE, i.e. 5 people will win 70k each.
  • Please answer only ONE question per day. This is to prevent one person from possibly answering all three questions correctly, then other people copying those answers. If you attempt more than ONE answer per day, you will be disqualified, and I might have to change the questions.
  • At the end of each day, around 12am Central Time, I will tally any correct answers in a post. Any time after that post, any person who has not already won may venture another guess at ONE of the remaining questions.
  • I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANSWERS FROM AN EDITED POST. This is to prevent people from going back and editing old posts. If you have an answer in an edited post, please repost it in a new post.
  • I have already posted the answers in a hidden thread. This way, they will have an official time stamp so you know I'm not changing them as we go.
  • Ready? Here we go:

  • #1 What do the words "Orange" and "Newt" have in common?
    Answered correctly by MadCChuck

    #2 This English word contains all 5 vowels and Y in order (aeiouy) but not necessarily consecutively.
    Answered correctly by Dnothoran

    #3 In Back to the Future II, what is seen in the background walking a dog? (be specific, it's a reference from another movie).
    Answered correctly by Avitue

    #4 There are two players tied for the best Rank on my Fantasy Baseball Roster. They are both pitchers, and have the same initials. Name them both.
    Answered correctly by Sayrin

    #5 Name the BAND and SONG of the following Guitar tab (it's played kinda slowly):
    Answered correctly by Clerico

          D                                         C   G D
    E ||------------------------------------------------------------||
    B ||------------------------------------------------------------||
    G ||--2--------4-2-0-------------0----------------0------------.||
    D ||-----------------4---------2---4-0-------------------------.||
    A ||-------------------------------------------/3---2-0---------||
    E ||------------------------------------------------------------||

    Okay, play fair, have fun, and good luck.

    cheers

    Drowsorez: Sorry, no, there are other words that end in -nge (mange, arrange).

    On question #3, people are close, but I'm looking for something more specific. (Actually, I pulled the question and answer from a website, if it was innaccurate, I apologize.)

    Arg i know orange rhymes with nothing, but i can't figure out why newt is a unique word >_<. Other than that thing i posted earlier about it being the only word in english with a -ewt ending...but i assume that u mean both have something in common that is different from the english language correct?

    -Zero

    As for the answer to #3:

    It's a robot leash. The reference is made from the movie: Batteries Not Included

    [edit: Omg, I just realised that Sayrin is my friend Reyne. O_O I didn't know you were on the boards! *lol* And omg, congrats on winning!! :0]

    The question for the back to the future question is a robot from "batteries not included" a late 80s movie is walking the dog I think. Aliens help save an apartment building is the basic plot ^^;

    I knew this since this was asked a few months ago and somehow remembered the answer and the movie. =)

    My name is Cyrex in Bismarck

    Alright, I called this one early because I'm adding a new rule.

    NO FURTHER ANSWERS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM EDITED POSTS

    I realized that people can read future posts, then go back and edit previous posts to make it look like they had it first.

    So if you post an answer, don't edit that post. If you have an answer in an edited post, repost it in a new post.

    There's only one question left, but oh well.

    Thanks.

    #1 - Both words are formed via metanalysis...a letter or two was added to an old word to form the modern word (a newt used to be an ewt...orange used to be an narange).
    #20 Aug 31 2004 at 12:57 AM Rating: Decent
    Yay! Thank you Peewee(trickybeck)! ^w^ And I'm sorry, I never thought about the editing thing...

    Metanalysis is the process where a letter is added or subtracted because of a nearby word.

    a newt an ewt

    an orange a narange
