FFXI is supposed to be fun and helping each other out right but u get ppl who if they don't know about something they won't aski because they don'twant to be considered noobs even tho it could be a good questions that others may need answering and also don't ask for fear of being labeled a noob. What really irritates me is that when I try to give helpful advice i get them saying hey I am not a noob. I reply by saying i didn't call u a noob i just want to help ppl out to have fun in this game. I am just wondering why this is the way it is. i mean the whole idea of this game is to work together others and improve but with ppl criticizing others for not knowing something and not helping them to know it, it sucks the fun out of the game. I am not the highest lvl guy but i know somethings and yet i don't know things either and I ask because in my mind i am not asking because i am a noob I am asking because to be a better player i need to know and I am asking because it is a smart thing to do. Just know that not everyone knows all the answers and if they claim they do they are lying. (This is my observation of this game, not intended to point out ppl but to get my point of view across TYVM for listening (^ ^)b )

I believe you are simply dealing with the virtues of an Internet game, being that everyone on the Internet knows everything and telling them they don't is tantamount to telling them that they're gay. Or straight, as the case may be. :P
Of course, self-deprecation of the Internet is the new underground scene, so just take my comment with a Galka-sized portion of salt. :P

I've been fortunate I guess in that I haven't had many run ins with people like this. Then again, I usually keep pretty quiet outside my LS as well.
If I see a shout with a question I will answer it or if I get a tell (it's amazing how many random tells I get asking for help, I always have to double check to make sure my mentor flag is off ^^) I'll help if I can.

People don't take advice well in real life or in this game. Had a run-in with this myself last night.
They just say stop being a d!ck, GFY, I know how to do my job (well if you did, I wouldn't be saying anything...), neat little stuff like this.
I just write it off to them being 12 yrs old and go about my day. I don't /blist these people, but I have a small notebook next to me with many little written "reminders" for the future.

If i offer people advice I give them my advice and if they take it they take it if not at least i tired but i get responses like I am not a noob and like i sadi earlier about this it sucks the fun out of it because people think if they ask they will be labeled right then and there and it shouldn't that way. I would like it not that way but maybe I cna't help at all becaus that is human nature to not be dependent on others for advice.And Cutriis was that a Galka joke just because i am a galka or nothing to do with that :P I am somewhat of a pessismist so if there are negativities in here i apologize i try to be optimist but sometimes my pessimist side overpowers the other side and sorry about (^ ^)y
