Leaving after you levelFollow

Annoying sometimes, but I wonder, should we really get mad at people for it?

Here's my case. See, now that I'm level 48, it takes over 3-4 hours (in an efficient party) to get a level now. And god only knows how long it takes you people who broke Genkai 3. For players like me who only have a limited time frame to play (I started playing in November, and yes, 48 is my highest job to give you an idea of just how much I really get to play), one level is almost all the time I have to play. Sometimes I can't even stay online long enough to get it. But since I'm the WHM, I'm arrogant for having to leave after I get it. It's gotten to the point where I now I have to put

(|Log off|) @ [time goes here!] (|Please listen.|)

in my search comment so parties know this beforehand.

We've all gotten mad at people for spontaneously leaving a party right after they gain a level, but I wonder, should we accost them? I'll admit that some prior warning would be nice, but sometimes that's always possible.

Opinions?

alto fo the time i say i have to go at the next level becaus ei jsut want to get there and i really haev to leave. I usealy make eveyr on in my house wait till that lvl mark if they want the pc hence the reason why i leave after the lvl it makes sense to me as logn as you tell them before hand i usealy say so when i am 2k tnl.

only thing I would require for people leaving is a 30 minutes warning; that should give the rest of the party enough time to look for a replacement ( even though the party usually breaks if the brd or rdm leaves X) ).

I agree, if everyone is notified in time they have no reason to be pissed. I know your pain as a fellow WHM, I usually try to have a replacement lined up but sometimes that doesn't happen.

Iceboxx did this to us last night in Qufim. We were working fine, he leveled to 24, and then "I gotta go. Bye" and he was about to log when someone else begged him to stay since that player was almost TNL.

As a party leader, perhaps it would be responsible of you (speaking in general) to ask players how much play time they have before sending an invite. I realize this is difficult at low levels since people get snapped up quickly, but it basically helps enforce the "We're all in this together" attitude as opposed to the "I'm helping you so that you'll help me" attitude.

i always say how much time i have to level up front. If i don't like the PT i will still give at least 30 min notice before leaving.

Sometimes you can calculate XP/hr and know when you are going to level at this time you can give an estimate of how much longer you will be on.

i.e. you are 3k TNL averaging 4k/hour you can say you have about 45min-1 hour left.

Anybody who dings then says "gtg bye!" does not get an invite from me in the future.

It doesn't really bother me that people do that. Solace is just a /sea away. If I can't find a replacement, no biggie. The party goes their separate ways, and oftentimes we'll see each other again a half hour later when we're partying together in a different party.

Now people who say they have to go, log out, and ten minutes later, you see them running out of where they logged out.. that's a different story. That just makes me sad, that they can't just out and say "Hey, I don't think this party's going anywhere, so I'm gonna scatter."

I don't mind when people have to go...if you have to, you have to.

Actually, I tend to have people stick around for a long freaking time hehe. But yeah, it's only really annoying when you make a party, kill 2 things, someone levels and says immediately "oh, look at the time! gotta go!" and then you're out in the middle of nowhere with 5 people :/ And then, you wait 15-20 minutes for a new person to find their way to you, and you kill 3 things, and someone says "oops, something just came up, see ya later" ><

A little notice is the nicest thing you can do...
What is REALLY rude is when you say "I have to leave in 20 minutes" and 20 minutes later someone says "but I'm 1000 tnl...stay til I level plz" :|

On another note, had a dunes party that three members of lasted until level 30 o_O

This is one of the reasons I advertised for a static party. While it is fine to leave after you level, you should be considerate of others in the party as well. I will always stay if someone is close to leveling. My static party does the same.

There should be an upfront agreement about how long you are going to party, rather than a level requirement. Many times a party may call it quits after a certain time period, but it hardly seems fair for one person to level and leave.

I know I would invite a person back to a party if they gave me some notice. If not, then I would not bother inviting that person to party again. Just my two cents! :)

I myself am guilty of this, Though I did not level in the party I left. But, I was a DD. Easy as pie to replace and they didn't mind it. So, I headed out to go EXP wit Ixa. :x

But, Recently i've noticed player ediquite is getting better, No one wants to leave after they level (Not with a party I had that went from dunes to Kazham in a day. :O) No one wants to leave something like that.

Anyway, It doesn't bother me when someone leaves. I'm a fast worker and can find a replacement for them in two minutes, no matter the job. (Ask Ixa about the JP Bard I brought in after a newb BLM was being a wang.)

And now, My high level set pt is just totally slacking. THF came back from a vacation and forgot how to play! :o

it just comes down to common courtesy. it is always best to give at least 30 minutes notice before leaving a party so they have time to find a suitable replacement. anyone who has disbanded without notice in any pickup party ive been in especially when someone is close to lvl has been blacklisted. this is the main reason i only lvl with set parties now. you need people that you can depend on to be there for a set period of time if you want to maximize daily exp. there are times when something comes up and you have no choice but to leave/logout. if this is the case explain to the party leader and im sure he/she will be more understanding of your situation.

i always try and give my 30 min warning too and if sometimes like 500 tnl away and were pulling at a good speed I'll stay if I can or at least try and find a replacement

(my first post on here)

I’ve found recently, now that I’ve made my way into the CN, that most people I’ve partied with seem to find their own replacement (myself included, unless the leader already had someone.) Unless you have a sudden emergency you should know when you’re logging and be searching for someone to replace you.

But on the other hand I finally reached lvl 40 last night and had some high levels to help me with my AF1 (rdm) but just as I had two-hundred and sixteen exp till 40 my whole party disbands. I was running out of time to meet with the guys helping me and go invited into a party. Two kills later I leveled but instead of leaving to get my AF1 I canceled with the high levels and stayed with the party.

Leaving to log and leaving to do something else in the game are two different things.

Well I'm one of those "weird" people who budgets his time and tells the party upfront he's leaving in so many hours.

I literally do say "I can stay for # hours" as soon as the party starts and I so very rarely stay beyond that time period. Though it always seems to surprise the party when I say "I have 30 minutes left." I know I'm the WHM but I let you know like 5 hours in advance I was gonna leave...-_-

Personally, I lose interest after 3 or 4 hours in a party (which is why level 51 will probably be my highest level before I move onto BLM). I guess I just get kinda frustrated that people get mad at me for having to leave, WHM or not. I try not to leave right after I level but it really does take between 3 to 5 hours to gain a level now, and I wasn't in a party for the entire time I'd been logged on either. Sometimes I can't even stay with a party for 2 hours, but I always let them know this when I can, but I still get accosted.

I guess some people just gotta understand: When you gotta go, you gotta go. (stolen from Jurassic Park! :p) Just gotta take it easy and remember that real life COMES FIRST. Don't get mad at a party member for spontaneously having to leave (unless you think you have good reason to, like maybe a suspicious excuse), and remember that we can't be glued to a party all night either. We all want levels but some of us just can't dedicate the time.

I wouldn't say that you are wierd. And thanks for clarifying. I think you are perfectly justfied in leaving if you state up front how long you have to party. I'm at level 48 also and it takes a few hours to get one level, so I understand your frustrations. I look at it from this perspective though. At some of the higher levels, friends and people that I like to party with are few and far between.

I don't really want to alienate anybody or tick someone off because of a misunderstanding. You never know when that person may turn around and help you out. Just my 2 cents.

There are some cases where you can't give a warning. If an emergency rises up you won't know 30 min before. So in some cases you can't give warnings.

I would agree that there are times where you just can't give notice but in most cases you can.

I don't get mad if someone up and leaves but this one time in the dunes we had a BLM who was XP crazy. We had just had a bad time where a couple had died and were trying to get rid of weakness and he went and pulled something, which we then were barely able to kill. He dinged level 20, warped to jueno and disbanded. There's an example of when it isn't ok ^^

I toally agree with you wintaru. Personally I try and give an hour warning if I can. The least i do is give 10-15 min warning to my pt so they can find a replacement.
#20 Sep 07 2004 at 4:58 PM Rating: Decent
I find that warning the party once an hour usually staves off most of the anger, and then 45/30/15 minute warnings.

That is what I try to do so the pt has enough time to get a replacement for me so they won't have any downtime.
