Undercutting, I don't like it. Therefore I am making a thread on any item I'm selling and what it was undercut to and by whom. If your name appears on here and you don't like it, tough luck. I'm sick of the undercutting for a measly fast sell.

If you have a name to add, feel free to post it and I'll add it to my main post.

I'm not telling you to go out and be a ***** or anything to these people, but remember their names, and their undercutting ways! ^^

Also, these undercuts aren't over a period of time, they go straight to that price after staying steady at a price for a period of time.

Undercutters:

Nanao: Erase 360,000 > 350,000
Nagiy: Ice Spikes 17,000 > 15,000
Nanao: Calveley's Dagger 30,000 > 25,000

Oh god here we go..

Quote:
Nanao: Erase 360,000 > 350,000

Nanao: Calveley's Dagger 30,000 > 25,000

I really, I mean really wouldn't worry about the prices of these items too much^^; I mean geez these type of items will always fluctuate and it's not just one person's fault. Supply and demand .. keep that in mind.

I can totally feel you on the whole undercutting the AH thing, i mean, i hate when things get out of hand, but making a thread about it really isnt gonna make a difference. The people are still gonna undercut all they want..

Hell, i was getting Gold ore for 7900 gil a pop sometimes in Bastok the other day, so, i cant really complain because i get a profit out of stuff like that..

sorry, but undercutting is always gonna happen.

Yeah...prices will go up and down, sometimes VERY fast. And another thing, one person undercutting will most likely not affect the going price very much, it would take several people undercutting, or one person with several of the item.

Yeah, that sucks. But its not always just a "measly fast sell", because space and time are valuable commodities. at certain times, people need to get something sold in order to make room - to them, that item is worth less because it is taking up space. while it might be noble to wait for the 10 ahead of you to sell, and maybe have the item sent back once or twice, there are some cases (particularly in jeuno) where this isn't economically viable.

People will go get erase scrolls (for example - i'm not familiar with the current intricacies of the erase market) and sell them for as high as they can, which sometimes means undercutting in order to get them sold. If there are enough people getting these scrolls and selling them for 360k, but not enough people buying, people have to undercut. But people will still take their time to get these scrolls as long as the gil they get justifies the time they spend. This might mean erase eventually drops to 100k. But if its only 100k, then fewer people will feel its worth their time, fewer scrolls will be on the market, and prices may start to rise again.

I seem to remember erase was worth 300k-330k a month(ish) ago? A few months, maybe? I know 360k sounds higher than when I last remembered checking. As someone who might want to buy erase at some point, do I say, "Damned overchargers!"? I could very well, but I don't. Well... maybe I'll grumble or whine to my LS, but I don't blame individuals for it. I just figure I'll have to find ways to make more gil, or wait for the market to change.

Undercutting sucks for the seller, but its nice for the buyer. Its part of the economy, and since our virtual lives are dependent on it (the economy), we have to learn to adapt.

Granted Undercutting does suck for the Seller, However it is part of any ecomonmy ever created. Everyone wants the Best deal Possible. I will be the first one to admit i always check the prices and my first is always roughly 10% less then the average. If i get it Great if i dont then i bid higher (if i really want it) . So if you dont like undercutting then just put you item up at a high price and if it doesnt sell unfournatly your out a little gil it cost to place it for Auction. Other then taht i belive posting a list of undercutters is a bit Extreme for such a common Practice

Please realize that "undercutting" is the reason that many of you can buy the items you are now able to. There are many items that used to cost millions which are now a small fraction of that.

If there is too much of an item, they will not always all sell in 3 days if you use the "real" price. If there are 250 stacks of moat carp up and no one doing the quest, Are you sure you are going to get the "real" price? Yeah, maybe if you relist it 10 times. Velfire said it perfectly, “space and time are valuable.” Many people do not want to waste that time or space. There is no need to shun these people.

If you have more patience than the “undercutters” then you can get the price you know the item is worth. If you lower your price too, you are an evil undercutter as well. If you can never again get the price you want, then the item is no longer worth that much. I’m sorry, please adapt.

Prices do go up too. I am waiting for the “overpricers” thread.

This thread is absolutely pointless.

Pointless thread, as stated before. Undercutting is a part of any economy. Deal with it.

This thread isn't POINTLESS, but I don't think it will work. It's a brave attempt to curb undercutters... if everyone contributes. Thing is, not everyone is against it. I know that I'm not against it.

The AH plays very much like the stock market. Buy big when prices are low and undercut, sell when theyre at peak prices. Like others said, it's just how the FFXI economy works.
