Where are all the Beastmasters hiding?Follow

I understand that Beastmasters are often leveling in the most odd spots in zones, in order to avoid clashing with other PTs.

I understand that Beastmasters either exp'ing solo, or PT'ing only with other Beastmasters.

I understand that they spend 50% of their time doing BCNMs.

And I understand they're almost like their own secret society, given that there are BST-only Linkshells.

----

But even after all that, I NEVER see Beastmasters. I can count the amounts of times I've seen one, and that's two. One waiting for the boat to Selbina, another hiding in Valkurm.

I never see them in /sea either. What reason would they have to go anonymous? Most PTs aren't inspired to invite a Beastmaster. And it's not like people have any issues with them, so why be so secretive?

----

Is there any Beastmaster here that can come out of his or her hiding to enlighten this newbie? Beastmasters are easily the most mysterious Job on FFXI (at least to me), so I'm pretty darn curious.

Sorry if this question has obvious answers, I'm only a Rank 3 kid... be gentle ><

Heh. I haven't been playing BST in a while, since I've been in need of money, and I needed to level WHM as a support. Once I started WHM, though, I stuck with it for a while. :) I'll come back to BST once I can do teleports, probably. I need cash. :)

BST bored the bloody heck outta me so, there's one less BST out there. :P

One BST I knew said he goes anon and away to further emphasize his role as a soloer. Well, I guess... :/

You never see Beastmasters? o.o Odd. I see them all the time in Boyahda, Garlaige, Kuftal.. hell. Anywhere I go, I see them. But usually when I'm in those places, I'm solo for explorations, and I don't mind going into the odd areas that beastmasters usually frequent.

I only know one, and have seen two.

I intend to be one though, so you'll be seeing Tollen in that search soon!

I guess I answered my own question in my thread. All the replys simply confirmed it. Beastmasters have no reason to PT with other people. They're just better off alone or with other Beastmasters. And they all probably have a leveled White or Black Mage so they can port or warp anywhere they want.

And yes, I'm aware /sea all BST can get me a whole listing... but I'm talking about seeing them in person.

I guess the only way to understand the mysterious Beastmaster is to become one.

We shall see what happens, oh friends in Bismarck... and that's probably that I'll give up and stay with White Mage.

One of the reasons most beastmasters don't pt, is that I've found a lot of pts believe that they either leech off xp, or aren't useful enough like Wars or Monks are.

I know plenty of beastmasters. There's "The Herd" that consists of cute lil' Bigcz, Drahon, and Tinytot. ^.^ They are a sheepy family of a taru, hume, and galka. There's also BeyondRaine and Sprinkles, who I must thank for inadvertantly getting my Coffer Key. Tabian is a beastmaster I happened to party with back when I was in my 40s. There's the infamous Sprite... >.>

But yeah, they are here and there ^.^

As BST, I'll tell you why you don't see to many of us: we try to stay out of your way. Unless we're *looking* to party, we tend to avoid the more heavily traveled areas if we can, because otherwise we're fighting with you for pets and prey. That's pretty much the best reason, simply put. I know you already mentioned it, but it should probably be highlighted. :)

(Incidentally, check the link in my sig if you want to know more about that.)

Cheers!

There are a few of us high level ones out there, however, as said by most, we tend to stay away from parties lest we get accused of "stealing your xp," and nothing is worse then an ill-informed adventure arguing to you about your job because they read it in the strategy guide. Ugh...

The Bst-only linkshell on Bismarck is fledgling at best right now. Barely anyone stays in it, and there's not a strong enough presence by English Beastmasters on the server to warrant it as a full time linkshell. I have it there more or less so it's there, in case anyone decides to make use of it for their own personal needs. Everyone in the shell is a sackholder, so they can do pretty much anything they want. Unfortunately, most of the BSTs who want to join are like some of you, they ask to join between level 1-10, and then decide the job is boring before they really go anywhere with it. If you can survive to level 35, then usually you've found a home in the Beastmaster job. If not, then by all means, you didn't survive the initiation.

its a shame people dont like us in parties again of this "stealing exp" thing. I was only ever in 1 party and that was from 23-25 in Qufim. The party was very impressed that i could use a familiar at no lose of exp to them only myself and was like having a 2 for 1 party member ^^

Since i enjoyed that party i did spend a few hours in Kazham looking for party but there was no interest so back in to the shadows i went to solo.
