PLDs I want your opinion on Regen IIFollow

I've been presented with two sides of the coin. Some PLDs want it, others say they don't, because it heals too much and they can't get enough hate from their Cures.

But when you think about it, a Regen I is only giving you 5 HP a tick and the monster is (for my level anyway) really hitting you hard and practically negates that. Regen II would help to soften the blow, so to speak, right?

I think that's important because if my Regen isn't healing you over time, I'm going to have to spam other Cures on you to keep you alive, thusly drawing hate myself. And few PLDs are equipped so that the monsters barely make a dent in them.

Kind of conflicted here, and would like some veteran PLD advice on the matter.

cures are 1 way to gain hate.

if you are in the orange and i throw Regen 2 + cure 2 and you cure 3 yourself you will get plenty of hate.

I was in a PT where the PLD rarely self cured, he used flash most of the time and only cured himself when low yellow this worked out great he had no problem with hate and neither of us had mp issues.

To not ask for regen seems kind of silly.

I think any kind of regen is welcome. Especially when fighting spiders - ouch!

I think regen is crucial. It allows your WHM to pay more attention to the pt members that dont have the DEF of a PLD.If your pally cant hold the hate, it surely is not because he has regen going.
I have problems when my other PT member hits mob for 500 damage. The mob doesnt even know I exist until I cure3, flash, voke and shield bash..lol. After I get my AF gear, or some of it, I will be a little better off.

Just my opinion

Depends on the situation. I don't use cures too often since I don't have trouble keeping hate. If the tank is able to maintain aggro well enough without needing to cure constantly then throw in a regen. I don't see why many PLD try to spam cure to keep hate.

Even at level 51, I still don't know how to handle paladins ^^; You do have to admit.. you don't really start to NEED a paladin until you're in Garlaige, or it's at least not common knowlege.. I think.. XD;;

In any case, Regen II really has saved my Paladins during those hard times with the Exoray's TP attack (It escapes me, hehe), or Sickle Slash. It's given the mob one more hit before KO, and that gives me time to throw out a Cure IV :] I really think it's silly if the Paladin can't hold hate without curing the 10 HP every two seconds that regen II gives. If anything, maybe it's the mage's fault? Or the damage dealer. But I seriously doubt that Regen II could be a kick to their hate-holding o.o;

But I do see where they're coming from. I just don't want my Paladins to die ; ;

Well, then, I suppose I will just continue to cast it then, and should they request I don't, I'll hold it to them when I draw the hate away.

Yay for Stoneskin.

Thanks for the input.

I've never had a Paladin say that I shouldn't be casting Regen II... The spell is a very efficient cure, it'd be wasteful not to use it. XP Chains depend pretty much on the main healer and the Paladin's MP bars. If either one of them are too low, the chain stops. Regen is a godsend when it comes to MP conservation.

I'm 4000 XP from getting Regen III and I can't wait. :D There's absoutely nothing that makes our job easier than a new Regen spell.

You didn't list your level, but I'm guessing you're pretty close to the level that you learn Regen II. The first few levels after you get it are easy, because vs. the right monster you can cast it and sit down. You can really only do that against things that don't have high dmg TP attacks or crippling debuffs like Paralyze or Silence. But, if possible, you can do your opening debuffing and hasting, then cast Regen II and sit for a couple ticks. During this time the Paladin can cure himself for hate. It's pretty amazing when it works right. :D

I regen the Pally as the puller enters camp. Regen2 is the way to go at all levels.

By all means, cast Regen II. While they notice that they're curing less, what some PLDs might not realize is that YOU'RE curing less as well. I've been rather disappointed as of late, because a lot of the WHMs around my level haven't been using Regen, which definately takes off some of the pressure of keeping my HP high.

Click my name for my characters, I'm pretty sure a couple of you know who I am. :p For your benefit though, I'm 44, but I've had Regen II for awhile, since I actually lost that level and had to regain it (thanks a lot Ifrit's Cauldron).

I love Regen II, it's so much less work for me and I don't have to worry about missing a Cure II because Regen II is keeping up well enough while I cast Haste or some other spell on another person. It just gets frustrating when someone tells you off for casting it.

Oh and for the LS member who's been spying on me ;), relax now, I explained to you why I posted this.

Regen is good since it's cheap and you know it won't be wasted most of the time
