The world of Vana'diel opens up to the Europeans on Sept. 16th. Does anyone know what countries will be joining up?

Germany, france, sweden, denmark, finland, spain (but i figure they're a little more outgoing than the rest of us) and my own ENGLAND!

In my experience, most german swedish and french rpg players are fairly fluent in english. But speaking as an EU player i think it'll be great. the ingame economy will get better, partying will be easier and the american veterans will have somebody to look down on like the japanese did =)

Just get ready for a whole host of "U pwlvl me? ok? yes?"
Or "I r need items, you give me much gil plx!"

Auto translate is going to compensate for the new languages aswell tho.
#3 Aug 15 2004 at 5:06 PM Rating: Decent
Not Norway? Darn...I got a couple of friends there who would probably play the game if they could.

I do think the economy will go down a bit, but it will be a slow process. But I got this nasty feeling that chocobo prices will be going up, maybe someday even breaking two point five k, Goddess forbid that.

Did SE already update that evil autotranslator to include other languages?

Honestly, I hope we don't get too many people from this new swoth on our server. Simply because we're already crowded. As of 10:37 PM EST, there are 3693 people online, 543 of them in Jeuno, 298 of them in Valkurm. It's AWFUL.

I really want to meet (nice) new people, don't get me wrong, but, wow. Maybe they should start another server migration.

I read somewhere that they were introducing a EU specific server, so any people creating a character with the EU version get put straight in there.

But after reading the post about that server, there were many other posts flaming the person who wrote it, so it may not be true.

If they didn't put NA and JPN players on separate servers, I see no reason why they would put Europeans anywhere else. They might have to open up new servers though, so perhaps we'll see a migration soon.

Cheers!

I seem to recall that Bismarck is one of the underpopulated servers, actually. Two of the three characters I've made didn't require Worldpasses, as I got Bismarck by default.

But yeah, they're gonna stomp all over my primary play time, which is late morning/early afternoons...

Anybody notice crystal prices skyrocket lately? i remember the day when F crystals used to be... what, 1400 a stack, now ive seen them well above 2600.

Expect the crystal market to crash, with a huge influx of low-level players grabbing up tons of crystals and putting them on the AH.

Supply rises, demand will remain more or less the same, the prices will plummet.

Or, at least, thats my prediction, what do you guys think will happen to the econamy?

the same thing that happened on march 21st :P

i have a question
if they are introducing it to a new country, is the auto-translator going to work for their lanugauge also?
cuz i have a friend who is from France
if they introduce it to France, will SE have to re design the auto-translator or something?
that might be a reason that they might have to make a new server for certain countries

All this means is that people in these countries will be able to by localized versions of the game. Localized for those that don't know, means that if you have a French verion, for example, all the text is displayed in french. So the auto translator will translate into what ever language your local to. Will be most excellent as I have run across one or two spanish speakers and if it wasn't for the fact that I listen to so much spanish at work I would not have known how to communicate at at all, since the auto translator dosn't work in spanish yet...^.^

Well if that's true, then that's only proving my point that we need more servers. I shouldn't have to worry about constant linkdeaths in Lower Jeuno on the weekend.

...then again I wonder if that'd force them to jack up the monthly fee...

Well regardless, it's still pretty bad already.

That's really my only worry about the whole thing. I'm from Seraph personally, and I think we're one of the low pop servers as well (I made three characters, all of which, first try, popped up on Seraph. lol.). The party leveling areas are still very, very crowded.

I'm thinking maybe they should add some extra worlds. By default, the the majority of the incredibly large influx of players would end up on those servers, but at the same time they're not forced to play there so long as they can get a world pass or are quite lucky. I personally think it would just be easier to separate all the servers from the player's point of view (being multicultural is great and all..But everybody feels more comfortable around their own kind, human nature), but at the same time I realize why that's not necessarily practical.

CoP will come with the EU version of FFXI, much like RoZ came with the N/A release.

If you already have FFxi you don't have to buy the new expansion; but you won't be able to travel to the new places, and the only way you can get new items will be from AH or bazaars.
#21 Aug 18 2004 at 7:15 AM Rating: Decent
i meant do we recieve it free as a download as when it's released the game pack (which contains ffxi and both expansions) wont cost any more than it does already.

Welcome EU players! I've visited London and my wife and I had a wonderful chat in the lobby lounge of our hotel with Swedish, French, and German couples ^^ I look forward to you coming (please let's leave politics out of this game ^^).

Couple of things:

Cutriss, if you were making char's on the same account as your main char, you wouldn't need a WP, it defaults to the server your other chars are on.

I look forward to the crystal market crashing as I've taken time off of leveling to get alchemy raised ^^

I purposefully left a couple of jobs at 20 so I can party with EU folks as well, I think it'll be a blast ^^

Cheers and Mind the (level) Gap ^^

Haven't seen any yet, but then again we haven't had much of a chance with the downtime. I expect to see a flood of ?'s in the future.

Hope they stay away from the Las Taru Casinos...
