Depressed by the all the animated ads taking up half the screen, moving around and distracting me I signed up for premium...It took my card details and proclaimed "Success"
I am logged in and I still have ads.
Is there a time lag for the change to propagate?
Any help would be much appreciated

Have you logged out and back in? If so, you might need to clear your cookies and cache.
