OK, I'm colourblind and have a hell of a time with some things on our site. I was wondering if anyone else had specific problems with anything? I started adding a colourblind mode to Rift stuff and, while I don't currently plan on back-porting it to all the older sites, I was wondering if it might be worthwhile to make it so users can use it. It also might be that we can just adjust things in the styles or whatnot, too. Please feel free to PM me if you don't want anyone knowing or something.

Thanks!

I think it's a great plan. I'm not color blind, but do have visual difficulties, and have trouble distinguishing darker shades of colors from one another, and low contrast differences. And as I recall, a large portion of the male population is color blind to some extent, but iirc, it's mostly blue-green which is less noticeable than than the red-green version.

Anyway, the important thing is, it's a great idea.

EDIT: Oops, and no really problematic issues for me with the eq1 skin and layout, especially since the revamp earlier this year.

EDIT 2: It's due to night blindness. I don't have much, if any problem, depending on gamma settings, on monitors, unless the colors are extremely dark. Mostly, the problem is in real life colors, where there isn't alot of light; sunlight especially on the very dark colors. As an example, there's no light in the closet, so when I pick dark colored clothes out, I often think they are black or grey, until I get outside and realize they were something else (brown, navy, dark purple, etc.).

We had a prior programmer who was colorblind as well, so hopefully not too many things will be off.

Actually, that sounds like Colour Deficiency (which most people just call colourblindness). I have the problem of blue+purple, orange+red, green+yellow, etc. but moreso on darker colours than lighter.

Rift uses plat, gold, and silver (no copper, etc.) I have the damnedest time telling apart plat and silver icons.

Any specific issues, feel free to mention with links and screenshots (if possible/appplicable) and we'll have a peak.

The purple used for moderator name coloring on the classic WoW skin gets sort of blurry due to the dark gray background it's used on.

Is there a lighter purple it could be changed to? Doesn't have to be a lot brighter, just a bit would do, I think.

Maybe I just need glasses.

Moderators come equipped with a stealth coating to make us invisible to radar. Its a job perk.
