Sort/Store by img=# would be appreciated. By date sounds silly, since most of the time the number corresponds with the date anyway. Can't really do alphabetically because that isn't how the pictures are stored. Only solution I can see is by upload number. Its probably a unique problem for me, considering the vast amount of pictures I end up uploading, but the numbers are all over the place the more you post, and they don't even stay that way. I've found that every few days a couple of random pictures move around, making it difficult to even begin to pretend to figure out just where a picture I want to use might be.

Possibly a way to index them. I'd be more than happy to spend a day at work going through every picture I have to put them in separate folders. Like for Ponies, Spidy, Deadpool, Reaction, MFW, meme, etc. Probably a long shot, but since I'm here I might as well suggest it.

Also, maybe shrink it down to like 50~100 images per page?

And finally, there was a time when gifs weren't allowed. Then they were, but they were uploaded exactly, instead of a thumbnail. Then, that was corrected and every gif afterwards is thumbnailed and decidedly unanimated. The problem is, the ones before those weren't corrected retroactively. Again, most likely a unique problem, but its there.

Anyone else got anything?

Every so often the order of my images scrambles, which really ***** with my head. I'd love folder or something. I'd recommend at least considering it, orange names, at least for premiums, it would be a good selling point for premium.

Just noticed: The Cancel Upload option prior to uploading a new image doesn't cancel. Pressed it, and the picture uploaded anyway and had to delete.

Wait, you chose NOT to upload a picture? Whoa.

Is what I think I meant to type.

I wonder if the inability to organize photos is a natural deterrent to uploading hundreds and hundreds of pictures that they won't be in any hurry to fix.

Although I didn't add support for folders (that's a rather complicated one), large collections of user images should now be much easier to look through. They are organized by category, paginated, ordered by when they were uploaded, and there are links to and from the various image categories.

I guess my main question is how to make various image categories. All I have is the one, with an admittedly impressive 2,500 images. I tried uploading a new image and didn't see any different options.

Categories can't be created or changed, they're just the existing categories that our system uses to keep track of images. See my images page for a few different category examples. Most images users upload are to the "User Information/Journals" category, which might as well be called the "Forums" category.

Some sort of user-manageable category/folder system within the forum category would be ideal, and would be great to add in the future, but that's a bit beyond these changes.

Well, at least the images will stay in place. That's a start. The categories might be useful to some people, but I seem to be out of luck as far as that is concerned. Smiley: laugh

I know you said it's complicated, but is the issue closed or will you guys continue to look into it?

I think it's definitely worth adding, and hopefully will be added before too long, just not at this moment.

How do you get to that page on your own images?

From the account dropdown go to Images and then click the link for "images in all categories", or from your user page click the Images link in the top area.

Hm. Mine looks just like the picture that lolgaxe posted. Uh, except I only have 293 pictures, not 2,500.

I guess I don't upload enough diverse stuff to have new categories made?

I just have the one super category. Makes it a little tough to find pictures. Smiley: laugh

Yeah, the current categories are really only useful if you also upload to the Wiki or other areas. Those were just the existing categories. If I were going to add some sort of categories now it would be in a more useful user-controlled form.

Don't forget the lolcats category if/when you decide to do that. Smiley: lol

Still having the weird "Cancel Upload Uploads Image Anyway" issue. I was checking to see how the transparency looked on an image I was working on with the various Zam backgrounds, and pressed Cancel Upload, and the image in question still uploaded. Firefox 5.0, Windows Vista, WoW, FFXI, FFXIV, and www.zam.com skins.

Also, any progress on user based categories?

Whoops, I forgot to ticket that earlier. Ticketed now.

No, this is unlikely to happen soon as we're currently swamped with other things. It's not forgotten though.
