Honestly I think having class forums is a little odd, sure it's what they do everywhere else but doesn't mean it's the best way to handle things. WoW gets played in about five ways: PvP, Raiding, Leveling, Making Money, and Random Stuff (ie the current general forum with threads like the bored druid thread and preist accomplishment thread mixed in) and those should be our forums. The Raiding forum ought to have sub forums for tanking, healing and DPS (and that should be further split based on main stat). Admittedly the class specific FAQs should stay and that has issues with the three stickies per forum rule, but it's a more interesting and logical way of splitting things up.

I disagree. The current model is to have general as a catch all forum and then have the other forums for very specific discourse that others might not want to read. It doesn't matter if these forums are slower, as they're specific enough to handle it. They are also get a decent amount of traffic nearer the beginning of any given expansion. For the five things forums, you're splitting up the conversation way way too much. I don't want to read 5 forums. I want to read one forum, and then for specific questions occasionally go somewhere else. It's also about capacity though. The official forums can do this because of sheer volume of posters, but it wouldn't work at all here.

This has been the argument against pvp forums in the past, but I think that with the new rated battlegrounds, and a dearth of good pvp forums, it makes sense to have this as a separate category.

I want to put up another suggestion:

If the final decision is against creating a PvP forum, because of the fear of fragmentation, than I propose we change the tradeskill forum to a the PvP one. None of those stickies are relevant to Cataclysm.

Besides. PvP is a far more dynamic and deep subject than Tradeskills, and is actually a primary focus of the game. It seems to me that the majority of topics in the TS forum have more to do with just general moneymaking/AH farming than they do with the skills themselves. I feel like it wouldn't be too big a loss to have TS use general instead.

Of course, I'd prefer we keep that forum and just add a PvP one. Just saying, if I have to choose one, I rather have PvP.

Add my signature to the list. I think a PVP forum is a good idea.

I should have started this thread in Site Feedback, sorry.

In other news, a hearty THANKS! I'm sure we'll do our best to make the new forum worth the work. Right people?
