'Cause there's a whole lotta post/thread lockin' (and nuking!) going on. How about an official word on whether or not we proletariat types are allowed to speak of the contest?

There was no contest, Joph. It was a figment of our imaginations.

Honestly, I'm baffled. I mean, it's one thing to nuke my posts when they are overly offensive, but it's a pretty huge ***** move to unrate my post because I pointed out that their Conan contest(which was actually a sweepstakes, but at this point I think a failure of terminology should be the least embarrassing aspect of this clusterf*ck) was totally broken. I mean, was I punished for pointing out the obvious?

Fact is, the contest ended before the stated deadline, which was a fictitious date to begin with, and that is in fact a breach of contract and places Allakhazoo in an actionable position. I don't just make this **** up, Kao.

Sweeping **** under the rug doesn't make it go away.

Edit: upon further clarification, this isn't about the typo I made in the thread, they had a concern about the other aspects of the contest. Unlocking so that may be addressed.

I thought they were ******** about the incorrect date i had in the post where I was trying to origionally get people to go enter the stupid contest. Again. It turns out they had a complaint about another aspect. so after clarification, i unlocked the thread.

I really don't think we're gonna get any answers, so I'm guessing this thread is pretty moot at the moment. Locking and nuking all the threads looked like a big case of the guilty, but it was actually just Kao getting upset about something that happened days ago. What we're really upset about is that the "contest rules", that Kao explicitly used in defense of his typo, were convoluted and incorrectly administered. Really, to cover your asses, your should have left the contest thread open until tomorrow at 11:59PM PST. Instead, you drew the winners early, and excluded anyone else from entering several hours before the deadline that was stated in the rules had arrived.

I personally would like an admin to honestly address this issue.

The contest is working as intended.

It's OK, admitting your mistakes is the first step to solving the problem.

While occasionally amusing, faking an admin edit on your posts is not something you will want to do on a regular basis.

I have no idea what your point is.

Here's the relevant part, from the official rules:

Quote:
Description: The "Venture into Hyboria" Contest ("Contest") begins on Monday, April 20, 2009 and ends at 11:59 PM PST on Sunday, April 27, 2009 ("Contest Period"). The Sponsor of this Contest is ZAM ("Sponsor").

The bolded part. First off, as of this post it's still not 11:59pm PST on Sunday, nor is it 11:59pm PST on April 27th. Second, Sunday, April 27th, 2009 does not exist. Today is Sunday, April 26th, 2009. Tomorrow is Monday, April 27th, 2009.

Everyone copacetic? I'm really not sure what if any resolution is possible, nor am I suggesting one. I was just pointing out that this contest violated contract law twice; first by creating an impossible to fulfill contract and second by violating its own terms.

I have a question, was the admitted entries for the PC drawing itself only from today or did all of the entries from the beginning count?

What you quoted is from the description, while what I quoted was from the how the enter, and winner selection.

Personally I like to take the word of the stuff that's not just a description, but yeah.

Honestly, when you're old enough to actually sign the contract you just misinterpreted, I'll listen to your opinion.

You do know that I'm 18, right? I really just don't care enough to scrutinize contracts that are giving things away for free.

No, I thought you were 15 or 16. My bad?

Really though, it takes zero effort to scrutinize a contract that uses imaginary dates in its terms. When I first saw that, I laughed. When the grand prize drawing was held tonight at a time which violated the contest's own bizarro terms, I merely posted about how inept it made the site appear.

Hopefully nothing bad comes from this, when I saw the contradictions in the rules I just used some sense and assumed the worst were true so that I had everything in on time no matter what.

While reading through the thread I also felt that the first bel-air guy should have just gotten the computer instantly.

I'm still confused about why day 6's "60-day game card winners" only have 2 people selected:

Quote:
Day 6 Winners (randomly selected):

Game Winners (2): Nalyr, Pathwalker

60-Day Game Card Winners (3): CountessArcadia, Majivo

Winners will get a Private Message & e-mail with what we need to get you your prizes. If you didn't win you still can! Check back tomorrow!

Well, that can still be rectified, seeing as how the contest doesn't officially end for roughly another hour-and-a-half to twenty-five-and-a-half hours, depending on how defective your calender is.

Also, it appears they've given away 20 subs unless we're counting the ones included with copies of the game, in which case 37 have been awarded. Oh yeah, there's also a portion of the contract which says they'll award a total of 41 subs, while in another it breaks it down to 23, so this contest still has legs, dude. Anything could happen. Anything.

Maybe it's just how I'm reading it, but isn't the end of the contest not necessarily the time the last drawing happens? The rules say the drawing for the daily contest happens at 4PM PST the day the contest happens. I guess if they wanted to be more specific they could have said the contest ended at 4:00:01PM PST but I don't see why end of contest is the same thing as when the drawings will occur.

I'm still curious as to why all the prizes haven't been awarded yet. Will this be remedied?
