As some may already know, a few months ago, I rather politely asked to have my posting name changed. I wanted to drop the "Alexander" and just be "Turin". This is not something I thought would be an issue, as many others have had their names changed. Well apparently it is, because despite me making several posts about the subject as well as sending several PMs to the relevant individuals (some of which were flat out ignored by the way, you could at least bother to respond), I still obviously have not had my name changed.

Now, I am aware that several years ago someone was using the name "Turin", but according to both DF and Kao, this individual is no longer an active poster and hasn't been for years. DF herself has already said that I can have the name, but sadly, no action has been taken to give it to me despite my efforts. Since granting this rather routine request is apparently too much of a bother, from now on I'll be keeping my money, since it's clear that being a subscriber apparently isn't appreciated around here.

I saw it, and it doesn't apply. I've been on about this for months. Honestly, I think I've been more than patient, it's gotten to the point of ridiculousness.

Actually, after a bit of looking around, the first time I brought this up was on June 28, 2008. Can anyone honestly say that I've been impatient about this?

I offered, but it will break your images. We've been short handed for months and I told you it would prob take some time. The only reason I can do name changes is I happen to have a link to that page, but not access to the backend, thus it breaks the images. I am sorry I can't help you on this. Smiley: cry

I'm sure that if it'd been something that's actually an issue with the website, user or something like that, it would have been bumped higher on the priority list. As far as my experience goes, I've always gotten the aid I need from the Admins and fairly promptly at that.

That's because it's usually an actual issue and not just some namechange that doesn't really affect your posting even remotely.

Seriously, if the lack of a namechange is enough for you to cancel your Premium, there's something else wrong as well. I pay Premium because I want to support a website with a fantastic community, all the info I could ever need on the MMO I play, great admins and adless browsing. Not to mention that I get a ton of extra features with Premium, which helps with the whole community thing as well.

Anyway, canceling your premium is hardly going to be a momentuous event for Allakhazam. It's like those guys on the WoW O-boards going "I'm cancelling my account, feel my impotent wrath".

I can only change my own name. They don't let me play with other people's names, on account of the whole "I would use that power for evil" thing.

There are priorities and than there's just I don't want to do it. I can understand that lately the site has been going through changes, but it's been nine f*cking months, honestly, that's just ridiculous. That's the reason I'm dropping the premium, clearly customer service around here isn't in important issue and I'll be damned if I'm going to continuing to pay someone to basically ignore me.

I'm not deluded enough to think that my three bucks a month is something that is going to be terribly missed, but I thought they should know the reason why they lost a subscriber. The premium "services" aren't really worth spending money on, I was subscriber because I enjoy the site and since I use Firefox I don't see their adds, so I felt tossing them a little money was the least I could do. But since that apparently isn't appreciated around here, I'll find some other use for the money.

I support Turin's boycott of premium. I'd be joining him over this whole contest exclusion fiasco if it wasn't for the fact that I utilize my premium services and it would hinder me more than the site by not having them.

How about we all agree to call him by his new name. Would that help?

He doesn't like his new name of Ben though.

In the great scheme of things, changing someone's posting name seems to me to be sort of a favor. Given the things that they have done for us (revamping the site, giving us back images in posts, and that pretty awesome database of game related info on about a dozen games), I'd live with a name I'm not thrilled with.

But, hey, that's just me. We all have to pick our battles.

So, you have been here a short time and are pissed because they can't change your name without breaking your images....

Yeah, you should find a better way to spend your money. The boards have already reached their capacity for posters with mental health issues. Good luck, though.

My Id: 513660
Turin: 787333
KT's: 538824

I've been here for 4 years, shortly after the North American release of FFXI. quit ************* take your bigmac money and go. DF tried helping you and you in turn, threw a tantrum because you got your Big Mac confused with premium. It isn't "Your way right away".

ID# 313974 here, and I joined in February of '04... keep in mind, some people have left and come back and started new accounts, but in the end, it makes no difference whether he's a new or an old poster.

I've thought about asking for a name change myself at times, but I figure anyone who cares about me or what I have to say already knows me by the name I'm using.

This is directly from our site FAQ, found here.

"...E-mail accounts@allakhazam.com your current user name, the name you want, and two alternate names. If you have a low post count, we will more than likely suggest you just make a new account. Contact us and let us know so we can flag that you aren't a sock or troll. If you are premium and have images and avatars tied to your account, you will have to wait for programmer intervention to preserve the images or be prepared to re-upload them all again..."

My suggestion would be to send an email directly there. In addition, if you like, you are always welcome to PM me to check on it if you like. DF is the site manager so she gets quite busy. Sometimes it helps having dialog with one of the specific site admins as well to help her and you if she is as swamped as she normally is.

We've already been through this, he has a TON of images and opted to wait on a programmer. I think he PM'd Nizdaar. I am betting programmers are like Allakhazam and do not even read PM's much less open them.

Or they are so busy trying to keep the new site up and running, they don't have the time right now for childish tantrums.

Considering he's been asking for it for about 9 months now.. I'd say he's allowed to have a tantrum.

I find it difficult to think that any adult is "allowed" to have a tantrum at any time.

And the programmers have been working on Zam.com for longer than 9 months...

That.

He was answered and because that answer wasn't what he wanted to hear, he tossed a tantrum. Yes his name can be changed but it will break all of his pictures.

And this tantrum had to happen while I am studying personalities disorders & Psychopaths....I swear I get more fodder from this board then I ever will from volunteering at a State Hospital.

From what I've read so far, it's not that the answer wasn't not what he wanted to hear, it's that he didn't get any answer. Unless I read it wrong.

He got no answer from a dev, I did answer, more than once...
