I was talking to a friend on MSN and I was saying how you should try to make a script to auto-nuke and ban (users if they do it x number of times) certain phrases in the subject lines. Like Gold, Power Level, Gil, Plat, ect... things that dealt with the online gold/gil/plat/cred/pwrlvl people.

So, I was wondering if you have thought about something like this. Also, would it be like impossible to code or something? I know you have banned words in threads, and have the language filter... It seems like a small step to me (who knows jack squat about programing) to take it a step farther to subject lines and auto-nuke threads with certain words/combos of words.

I only think of this for two reasons really...

1. Another Gold seller spamming.

2. I know of some forums I have visited awhile ago where they HIGHLY policed new user accounts through set limits. Like a set number of posts per day you could have, with a limit on the per hour also. I don't think you could make new threads until you had a certain number of posts/"user level" or something. I'm refering to, iirc, GameFaQs. Maybe something like that could be adapted to help keep the spam (of all kinds) down?

The downside to such a script is that every single post on the site would pass through that script before posting. We already have a regex that blocks certian words on post, but it is passive, it doesn't activly write data to the server as a ban statement would. An auto ban script would significantly slow the site down, it's just easier to have people bring things to our attention here and go from there.

I assume the same would be the same for a auto-nuke script?

Maybe you could have it only do the first few posts by a person or something? Just trying to toss out ideas, even though I know like nothing about coding or running a website/forum. ^.^

ANyways, thanks for the reply whether or not you even read this lol.
