Avatars not displaying :: Free Realms

It seems that some avatars are not showing properly. Some posters user file directories seem to be locked. Others can see some avatars, but not others. For me, some avatars should be displayed, but all i see is 'AVATAR' as an image. These files seem to be broken:

I am also unable to look at the directory containing userfiles like this:

Is this a bug? Sounds to me like the folder permissions were changed.

Chances are Illia or one of the other coders (rale amoung others I think) found out/knew you could view other people's files and changed it... since I doubt they ever intended that. However, in doing so, it may have broke some avatars.

I believe those avatars may have been deemed offensive and removed. because the files themselves are not in the directories any more.

Also, is there any reason we can't see others /uf/ directories any more? Was there a decision to close them?

Directory listings for /uf were turned off - this isn't going to change.

As far as missing avatars, thats a side-effect of some recent server changes, but the problem should be mostly gone now.

Edit; lemme clarify that. There can be a delay between the time new avatars are uploaded and the time everyone will be able to see them. It should only last up to about 5 minutes now. Is it actually taking longer then that still?

I'm a little interested in the /uf/ directory change... Was there any reason besides privacy issues? Just wondering.

Edit: Oh and to clarify, I am happy about that, since I don't really want who knows viewing my images. Not that I have anything I wouldn't want to share... But it brings about a nice little suprise if you upload a new avvy then break it out a week later for some special occasion that is coming heh.

Just privacy. I'm guessing most people didn't even realize it was browsable, and assumed no one else would be able to poke around their files. It was just an oversight that they were browsable in the first place.

Hehe, ya, I was shocked to find out it was browsable myself. Not that anyone would really want to upload "questionable" pictures. But still.
