Questions for the wonderful mods....Follow

#1 Aug 22 2005 at 10:20 PM Rating: Sub-Default
Why do you pick and chose which circle jerk threads to nuke?

Why do you think the Karma system is a good idea?

Why do you nuke me and not the entire thread?

What's so bad about making a second account to rate up helpful and useful posts (Yes I did rate up a few of mine in the process but the whole point of Rateupforeveryone was to rate up everyone... DESERVING)

Why don't you kill the Karma system or atleast fix it?

Can't you see that 2 people who don't know jack about posting made it to Guru status in a couple of days?

I suppose what I was doing was wrong then huh?

I was abusing the Karma system right?

You confuse me.

*edit small spelling fix

Am not a mod/admin, but:

1. What is this concept of 'circle jerk'?

2. Because it works very well so far. It isolates the good stuff from the sh[/b]it. It gives me an understanding of which thread to read in preference of another since it is rated higher.

3. Well, in the case that they nuke you, your karma goes down, thereby, if you care about your karma, it should teach you that you should not post crap. Also, maybe the rest of the people in the thread don't deserve to be nuked...if you started it, etc...

4. It's cheating. It's called a sockpuppet. The point of the karma system is that if your post is good enough, other users will take initiative to rate you up, not you. I feel a bit sorry since the vast majority of my posts are helpful, but I don't get rated up, but I don't really care that much about my karma.

5. The karma system works fine when it isn't abused by such people like you who create socks to get them a better rating artificially.

6. Some people are smart. They post a guide before they make 15 posts. They post 2 guides and helpful stuff and make guru in a couple of days. Some people who cheat themselves to Guru get reported to the admins who then ban/nuke them.

7. Awkward sentence structure.

8. Yes.

9. No. You just suck. You should play by the rules and honor them. Cheaters suck. You are one. Don't be one. It's bad.

10. Spelling is good, but you still have grammatical errors aplenty...

Why do you pick and chose which circle jerk threads to nuke?

There are 5,000 new threads posted throughout the forum each day, and 4 mods that regularily hit the forums. Do the math

Why do you think the Karma system is a good idea?

It is working as intended

Why do you nuke me and not the entire thread?

You made the ratebot, you attempted to defeat the karma system, you rated yourself up, i just undid your little rate fest there. Why the **** should you get to cheat when everyone else has to play by the rules hmm?

They call it karma for a reason.

and I did.

What's so bad about making a second account to rate up helpful and useful posts (Yes I did rate up a few of mine in the process but the whole point of Rateupforeveryone was to rate up everyone... DESERVING)

What's so bad about using steroids to cheat at baseball? What's so bad about stealing from others? What's so bad about cheating at poker? It's people like you that make the system appear broken.

Why don't you kill the Karma system or atleast fix it?

It is working exactly as intended

Can't you see that 2 people who don't know jack about posting made it to Guru status in a couple of days?

We deal with those as we run across them. The appropriate forum for your greviance was PM'ing a mod and asking them to look into those, not making ratebots yourself.

I suppose what I was doing was wrong then huh?

Exactly

I was abusing the Karma system right?

Simple concepts here no?

You confuse me.

Sorry. I'll use smaller words next time.

The real intent was to point these problems to the mods. I honeslty don't care about my Karma, I'm only semi-upset I am unable to rate helpfull posts anymore.

5,000 new threads huh? One of these threads has existed since June/july. You only nuke threads with minimal replies since obviously no one will get offended (or very little)

And yes the karma systems sucks, If you can' tell by now...

Quite a lot of new posters get rated down there first thread.

A post that Disagree's with what the general concecus is gets karma slapped and rated down into oblivion.

Kissing *** gets you rate ups.

Complaining about getting rated down gets you rated back up for being such a cry baby.

and last but not least, ASKING A QUESTION THEN GETTING RATED DOWN FOR NOT USING THE SEARCH FUNCTION.(apperantly before posting anything One should check the last 10 pages)

Not everyone is a god damn prenuium member.

*edit How about a limit to the ammount of rating one can do per day?

You see if I wanted to (when I was a scholar with a rating I earned, before I got bored and decided to make a second account)
rate every single thread I see as Awufl? for no apperant reason.

Nothing's stopping me, since i'm not really camping one specific person.

*edit2 As for reseting my score I was able to gain a total of .04 in rate ups. Yup. I'll see the -.5 as a punishment then, but by no way have you balanced anything.

If it weren't for that 'Rate Bot' (as you put it) You would not have noticed the thread.

Also I notice you deleted the posts on the Titan forum by 'Rateeveryoneup' but not nuke that thread?

Just saying.

I appreciate that you took some time out to answer some of these questions.

Making fun of my grammer or spelling errors dosn't prove anything. However your points are valid and I give you credit for them, I do dissagree with one point though:

And yes the karma systems sucks, If you can' tell by now...

Only because of worthless dipsh*ts like you.

This is my first time to do such a thing, however I don't think that gives you the right to call me a ********

Yes I now reialize(did I spell that wrong too?) that what I did was idiotic. But hey, I was bored. It just seems like for a thread that's been at the top of the page for about a week and appearing on the server list, it would have been nuked long ago.

It just seemed rather interesting.

*Edit: Fine I'll try the civil way:

Went from scholar to Guru.

Do as you please.

Thank you.

I suppose this would be a good time to apologise for my actions, I now see how far a small PM or request can go.
