In FireFox 1.0.4

Always have to hit refresh.

The indicator bars reach a certain point (usually differnt everytime) and it just stops.

Somtimes it will say "Done" yet the Thread Index doesn't appear.

Is this just normal?

    it's because of the ads.

sometimes, the page just doesn't load, "connecting to ad.serving.blabla", I have to Refresh and hope it doesn't hang on another ad.

    how to fix that?

So it's not just me? Glad to know and yet it worries me.

The site has been running fine for a while - I was guessing you finally got those new servers - but now it's the same old again.

Edit: Sometimes the page loads and says "Loaded" or "Done" or whatever, but the page is blank.. The menu is there, the layout is working, but the middle-section (ie. where this should be right about now) is blank.

Edit #2: Okay, did FFXI crash again or something? The entire site is one big mess. It took me 5 refreshes to get to this post. The "Page not found" pops up instantly when I click a link and when I refresh the site turns into..

    a) white blank
    b) WoW theme blank
    c) icons missing (red X), partial theme, partial white, links are blue and purple
    d) Page not found.

Right. I am currently on my new computer and the one which uses Firefox 1.0.4.

I've been browsing the site for the last 2 or so hours and it is fine. Loads very fast due to no ads having to be blocked via Hosts.

I've had it the page say Done when it wasn't when there were ads once in a while, but a little bit of waiting or an F5 or a Refresh did the trick. it was definitely the ads.

You might try this too Kelvy, I did this a while back and noticed a great improvement with Firefox.

Someone posted some tips on speeding up page loading in Firefox specifically a month or so ago:

    1. Type in "about:config" in the address bar without the quotes.

    2. Set network.dns.disableIPv6 to true.

    3. Set network.http.pipelining to true.

    4. Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true.

    5. Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some nmber around 20 or over. This is what will speed up page loading the most. The higher the number the faster. I will explain. This determines the maximum amount of REQUESTS Firefox can send for any one page. It means that it will send up to some entered number of requests thus, as each one comes in, it will add something more. Note however if you are playing FFXI or any game or downloading anything, this will eat a lot of bandwdth. Mine is set at 30. Average load is 3 or so seconds. I don't mind it.

    6. Add a new variable and call it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" without the quotes of course. Make it an integer and set it to 0.

As I said, this will eat bandwidth if you go past around 40 or so depending on how much bandwidth you have in the first place.

/em feels special that people quote her now!

It does help, but don't use it if you are on a 56K. Or if you are downlaoding stuff while browsing internetaru.

Hmm. I accidentally made "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" a String, not an Integer, and now I can't change or delete it. Any tips?

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Had to find the profile.js file and manually delete the ""s around the 0.
