Is it just me, or is the number of banning requests (for trolls, not mere spammmers) on the rise?

Are users trolling more activly and viciously lately, or are people simply being more touchy about their antics?

I think it's both. You've got people from the Asylum (SpinShark) trying to "play" with the FFXI forum, and then you've got others who post in all caps and are basically disruptive anywhere they go. SpinShark may cause the admins to implement a "forum ban" system where they ban users from posting in certain forums, but the other disruptive trolls should probably be banned entirely.

The Karma system won't really work on the trolls because:

    a) it takes 7 or 8 rate-downs from 3.0 for a post to go sub-default.
    b) the trolls will post multiple posts in different threads so each post has to be individually rated down.
    c) If they're smart they'll post a bunch of crap in empty/non-used forums, and pad their post count so the rate-downs don't impact their average rating as much, so therefore they can troll longer.

Of course if an admin finds out they are toast, but then you've got the problem of multiple accounts with different IPs.

He was never accepted anywhere. It's not an 'Asylum folks ******** with the FFXI board' issue.

Well yeah, it does take 7 'awful' ratings to take a post from 3.00 to sub-default. A lot of these trolls start out with ratings less than that, so it doesn't really take that many rate-downs to push them below the filter.

I think people are just too sensitive. That's all there is to it. Everyone wants to pick a fight.
