When I rate from my laptop, I more or less refresh the page with my ratings. When I rate from my PC, I get sent to a page that says 'Your ratings have been entered. Thanks' Is there some setting I can change to get them both on the 'refresh' deal?
2) While using IE, I can highlight text while replying, then click a markup button, and the stuff that I had highlighted will show up in between the markups. This doesn't work for me in Firefox. I like that option, am I SOL if I want to use Firefox?

a) if you're seeing the "your ratings have been entered, thanks" page it means your browser sent no HTTP_REFERER field. it means we don't know where to send you back to. check for firewall or privacy settings not sending it.
