Purely anecdotal, but I'd disagree. Lutherans are incredibly dull people, but stereotypically industrious. Doing work
for the church was considered just as important as doing the work
of the church. My church had a lot of work days, and while some of it charitable work a good portion was just cleaning and maintaining the church. Made our own stain glass window, did our own roofing, and after I left the congregation built a new wing. Then there were the meetings. I there's anything those people could claim to love more than a god it was bureaucracy.
Prairie Home Companion's jokes about Lutherans seem to be in the same direction: boring, hardworking people.
